It's crazy cause it's pretty much unfathomable for any current flyweight titlist to move up to featherweight.
Donaire was pretty much hyped to do it next but look where he's at now and he hasnt even made it to featherweight yet. And donaire is a guy with speed and power and some skill.
I say only the 154 title is Bvlsh1t.
all the other 7 are legitimate
4 - Lineal
1 arguably the best in the division ( 122)
1 againts a legitimate champion ( 147 )
1 againts a paper champion but nonetheless a valid one ( 135 )
That's the sole reason I chose that division. The entire process of him winning that 8th title was kinda crap. And I hate being that person because what he's done for boxing is truly amazing.
Second worst was 135 but he did beat a champion so it is what it is. Whether it's a legit 5,6,7 or 8 divisions he legitimately win a title in doesn't matter to me. He's an atg who I'll miss when he's done with the sport
It really is quite a great accomplishment that requires a perfect storm of conditions and attributes. You need a guy who is a massive weight cutter from a place where fighters tend to go pro at very young ages. Not to mention you'd need to be world class and have that world class athleticism and/or talent carry up through 8 divisions with you. It is doubtful we see one in the foreseeable future but ten years from now who knows.
Ofcourse. I think boxing is destined to add more divisons. And because of the simple fact that weve seen it done will inspire people to atleast attempt to break it.
In ten years we will have at least two more alphabet belts at each weight class, and probably at least another couple of weight classes.
By 2030 we will see a "ten division champion". And I'll bump this post with my iPhone 24.
Then again that last title he got at "154" is a little meh.. It was fought at 150 against a guy who wasn't a champ or even a contender in its division. A lot of people say you aren't a true champion unless you defend your title and he never did. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but I wouldn't mind if others didn't count it

Somebody else will come along and drain fighters, AND get made up division title belts handed to him.
Just a matter of time.
You thinking of FLoyd? It's too late for him even though he did all you said and more.
Pac was first to really manipulate CWs that's why he was able to do it , now that the cat is outa the bag everybody is onto them , , Pac was also stepping in the ring at 145 while fighting at 130 , so he was really the 145 Manny of today fighting smaller guys even back then , Mannys match making is brilliant , like Teddy said a stream of made to order opponents with most coming of their biggest loses .
Compared to Mannys CW of Margo Floyds was nothing , Margo is bigger than Canelo but had to lose twice as much weight , Mannys 154 title is a paper title , I don't think anybody can get away with draining fighters again the way Manny did , there will still be a lot of Cws but drained fighters stand out like dogs balls and people are on to it , take a look at Oscar vs Manny for the definition of drained fighter .
But karma will always win in the end , and it caught up to Manny .
Rigondeuax could've done it if he'd started pro at 18 and built up from there.
lol ..rigo is 33 and still at sbw..even if he captured each belt from the first divisional weightclasses to his current , thats only 5 weight divisions...
We will only see it again when we see another fighter start in the pros at a very young age in the strawweight or flyweight divisions, and truly grow through the divisions like Manny did. Manny probably grew naturally to about 135lbs, the rest was bulk and talent that carried him.
Even though. A fighter on his 8 weight class may not be able to beat even a bum there. Most probably he will lose first somewhere between on his 5th division - 7th division.
If this was so easy why nobody able to do it before Pac came along. No matter how these haters say. Pac 8 weight divisions titles accomplishment will be unbreakable for many generations to come.

I love Pacman, I really do. But. Winning a belt does not equal being the best in the division. Hard to compare to 70 years ago when one person held the crown to today when 4 people hold a belt.
Got to get rid of these f**king belts. Or at least have many more unification fights.
Dude we are not talking here about Pac fighting every lineal champ in every divisions he was in. We are talking here about the titles. no matter how paper they are.
The crazy part is even he went around 12 divisions from 105-154.
This alone can be considered already as a record. Really how many fighters out there who fought as a pro from minimum weight (105) up to JMW (154)?
maybe... in the future some special kid out there might have what it takes and starts out young like manny and as he matures gradually climbs through the weight divisions that's pretty much what pacquiao did
Definitely. It's getting easier and easier to be a world champion. Someone eventually will be good enough and find the opponents to win titles in 8 divisions. Whether they'll do so while beating fighters as good as Pac did is a different question.
