Richard Schaefer has informed that the show here in DC is a clean sellout. Congrats. #Boxing is dead? Whatever. #KhanPeterson
Main event purses: Khan $1.1 million (but he'll make more from UK TV), Peterson $650,000. #KhanPeterson #boxing

Khan and Peterson will both make more than is listed from ticket sales and international television revenue.
That means he's making almost 3 times as much as the initial 300k offered... negotiations
It could have gone either way. Peterson earned the W. Despite losing, Khan showed tremendous potential and a stronger chin than most expected, he looked fresher out of the two, and after taking some pretty good body shots. I give them both props. The ref was a little too involved, but not the deciding factor in the decision IMO.
watched fight this morning. Very close, I thought kHan won a close fight but obviously the 2 pts lost were huge. I expect Khan to dominate the rematch and KO Petersen early.
That said, someone tell AMir to stop poppin **** about fighting floyd. Khan clearly wasn't focused on this fight, he should've won by a wide margin if not a ko. You get to fight floyd by winning big fights not losing easy ones. Prescott and peterson rematches for khan in 2012.
I haven't got a problem with the outcome. It was a close fight that could've gone either way but Peterson did land the bigger shots. Khan was warned multiple times but didn't stop so he should blame himself just as much as the referee for that.
Anyway, it was an entertaining fight. Looking forward to a potential rematch.
I predicted that Khan would win by UD; boy was I off on that one. I will say that even in losing Khan did himself some good. He was far more durable than I thought he was going to be, he took alot of heavy leather from Peterson, especially those body shots.
Maybe it was a case of Khan looking passed Peterson to more lucrative fights or it could just be that Khan was a little on the hype side. This fight may not completely prove it, but it seems Khan can't win when he's pressed hard. When he's pressed he folds like a chair at PTA meeting. Fighters that are supposed to have alot of potential like Khan, at some point have to fulfill the popular imaginings about them; they have to fit the suit as it were or we must finally conclude they were not worthy of such high praise.
Peterson deserved the win; he fought his heart out and proved that looking passed someone can be the costliest mistake one can make. For Khan there is much uncertainty and a rematch to try to reclaim the luster that's been knocked loose. But the damage may be done, we'll see how he climbs back on that horse.
In the end I think it's safe to say that Khan isn't a suitable opponent for Floyd Mayweather and shame on the folks that thought he was.
Khan needs to shut his mouth about the penalties though, he came off as a little whiny ***** in the post interview with merchant
I think it was unnecessary for both deductions, with that said Khan showed his true colors which not surprisingly mimic those from the Roach/Ariza camp: we're better than everybody else. how dare you question us.
Enjoy another L, Khan. Kiss your mayweather paycheck chances goodbye ;)
Which is what people are really missing here. Khan cost himself A LOT of money last night.
I had Peterson by 1 point, Khan has no one to blame but himself, although I would give Peterson the nod I wouldn't have argued with a draw or khan win. Anyone saying khan won because petersons face was a mess is a moron and knows nothing about boxing.
You're right, he ain't ****.
Remember, he's the only guy capable of beating Mayweather. He said it himself.
I still think that first round Khan produced would've blown anyone back, Lamont had no clue where he was. A shame he couldn't maintain it.
He just needs to work on;
- Endurance
- Inside fighting/defence
- Handling pressure fighters
Otherwise you can't take away his talent/potential. He had a bad night, yet despite it, he still could've won if it wasn't for the points deduction. Even with the points deduction, one of the ref's had him still winning and the others had him lose by a single point.
That tells you something.
Only thing that could hold him back now is morale, how bad has it been effected by this fight.
Khan won that fight IMO. 113-112
Still tho Amir ain't s--t.

I had Khan winning, the two points was a big blow. Peterson fought a good fight too though not taking any credit from him. Ref should never be able to ref a title fight ever again.
