MAB vs Morrales was better because both fighters were in the prime of their careers. Pacman is in his prime and Morrales is on the backside of his career. Pacman is gonna hand out a beat down in the third fight as well.
Zahir outboxes Pacman in a very ugly fight, if I was Pacman's handlers I dont let him fight bigger boxers with a good chin, that is a recipe for a disaster
P4P
1. Ray Robinson
2. Henry Armstrong
3. Willie Pep
I'm on the fence between Armstrong and Robinson. Because Armstrong had the single greatest year ever in boxing by winning and holding 3 titles in SEPERATE DIVISIONS. But Robinson by far fought the toughest opponents over the course of his career and almost won the lightheavy weight crown. So I'm really conflicted but I would have to put Robinson 1 and Armstrong 2. Willie "The Wasp" Pep definately needs to get recognition, not only did he go 61-0 before his first defeat, he also recoved from a plane crash to box again and amassed 242 wins with only 11 loses
ur the guy who gets all his boxing knowledge from boxrec. why dont you tell me? no sense in both of us checking.
You can't honestly give me an answer because it would prove my point, Charles was past his prime when he fought Rock, just like every other champion.
:owned:
oh yeah, cuz we all know that ur a dinosaur when you hit 32, right?:nonono:
Ezzard Charles was past his prime after the Jersey Joe Walcott fight, he was on his downslide to his career. HOW MANY FIGHTS HAD CHARLES FOUGHT BEFORE TAKING ON A PRIME ROCKY?
if quartey would to win. Mosley would jump at the oportunity to fight quartey.
Why so he could get his ass whooped? Mosley has trouble with fighters with a very good jab. And Ike's jab would be in his face bothering him the whole night.
funny, you say "owned" like the little computer nerd that you are dispite the fact that you haven't said anything outside of ur biased opinion and have proved nothing. hell, you haven't even seen the fight, for fuck's sake.
charles had 90 fights before he fought rocky. but if he was on the downside of his career, how is it he managed to beat rex layne, bob satterfield, and jimmy bivins before he fought marciano?
gee, probly cuz he wasnt past his prime like you said. :duh:
So when Foreman beat Moorer he wasn't on the downslide? Good fighters can still manage to win past the peak of their careers. But when you put them against another great fighter in the prime of their careers they're going to get beat. So explain to me was Joe Louis in his prime when he fought the Rock or how about Joe Walcott and Archie Moore? Were they in the prime?
I know Rocky is your favorite fighter but you need to get a grip of reality and stop dickriding him you stan
The average contender back then was about as good as a title holder these days. In Pep's day, the top 20 in a given division (except for heavyweight) were a tough bunch and could give the champion a run for his money, beat him on an off night. And not like how it is with the heavyweights today with no one caring or showing up in shape. It's just that the level of skill was so high, the fighters so sharp and experienced by the time they got to that level, that this was true.
James Toney is hands down the most skilled guy (as in the deepest skillset) in the sport today IMO. Put him in Pep's era and there would be a handful of guys alive who could match him in skill and some (like Pep) who exceeded him.
The sport was just plain better, to put it succintly. More participants, better prepared and more skilled fighters, the living was tougher and the food they ate wasn't processed like it is today. Fighting is the one sport that has actually GOTTEN WORSE since the 1980's. Even the 1980's were on the decline compared to the 60's 50's and 40's IMO. This is what I see with my eyes. I see better and stronger athletes, on average, but much, much worse fighters. Mentally those guys just kick the shit out of today's fighters and boxing is 80% mental.
I agree with this post, I would add that the post WWII era fighters were made from different "stuff". The times were just different, man was just raised in a harsher enviroment so they were just tough sons of bitches.
You watching to many music videos.. This ain't no Zab Judah fight.. Haha
Torres made Cotto lean with and rock with it already, Quintana is a bigger man and has a sneaky straight left counterpunch.
Look for Cotto to perform an encore of D4L's Lean with it, rock with it
rocky marciano is one of the biggest myths in history, the only way to get in a fight with the rock was to either be a bum or be way past your prime. hes fought 4 champions all of them past the age of 35. he never fought a quality opponent that wasnt past their prime
louis was past his prime, but charles wasnt. walcott and moore were like hopkins, they got better with age.
instead of calling me a "stan" (wtf?), try and actually watching those fights on espn classic instead of basing all of ur boxing knowledge on a single website full of nothing but statistics?
How the fuck would you if I didn't watch vintage boxing footage? I pride myself on my boxing knowledge and collect boxing material everytime I get a chance. You're completely off base by saying I base my judgments off of a website. Its clear you can't make an objective opinion because Rocky is your favorite fighter.
It doesn't matter, if Mayweather tries to stand and trade and thats not working he will make his adjustments. Like in the Judah fight, when he was getting hit by Judah's jab, he made an adjustment without his corner even telling him by changing his guard to a traditional stance. And that took away Zab's jab, then worked him down.
See, I think Hatton's style is to much for Mayweather too.
I hope that's not just me.
Castillo knows what I'm talking about...
fuck are you talkin about, Castillo is more skilled then Hatton
