he had alot of gift decisions in his career..he didnt know what a body attack was....he didnt have any power and larry holmes who fought a very similar style to ali was better..ali's best win was that lucky win over foreman..in which he lost every round other then the last when foreman fell out from exhaustion
yea he jumped around the ring throwing that shitty jab like he's a welterweight..is the win over light heavyweight floyd paterson suppose to impress me? what about the win over 40 something year old archie moore...moore was old when he fought marciano so you know he was old when he fought ali
You still don't know shit , Ali was bigger than boxing.
If you wanna find out what Ali was really made of, watch Ali - Frazier III.
:fing26: :wt:
Now expect a thread from dino saying: Ray Robinson is Not an alltime great, or Ray Robinson was Overrated
Patterson is not a top 10 heavyweight. Top 15, but definetely not top 10.
Yeah. I didn't write a long paragraph because I'm getting tired of always writinh a long explanation everytime someone says something dumb about Ali. I guess my heart isn't in my work anymore.:D
i wouldn't bother wasting you're writing on shit heads like dino anyway! :boxing:
actually his bar is red because all of us limeys bad K'd him for saying our food is gay! But this is another bullshit post that adds to it. :nutkick:

Ali beat 4 top 10 heavyweights in their prime, what other heavyweight fighter can make that claim?
Close this thread
Four? Don't you mean three? Who's the other one?

well in the first fight listons left shoulder was apparently out. in the secod fight he got knocked out by the phantom punch. ali's punches had some power to them occasionally and that phantom punch came from nowhere so that COULD be a legit knockout
re asian sensation:
you also have alot of flaws in your earlier posts. you forget that it was actually found out that liston was 41 (or around that age, i cannot remember the exact number) when he fought ali. both fights are also very dodgy and i just don't feel comfortable judging a potential louis - ali bout on 2 very, very, very dodgy decisions.
41? That's insane. Liston contends that he was born in either 1933 or 32, which would make him 31-32 by the time they fought. In the first fight, Liston undertranied and was underestimating Ali going in, and was utterly shocked by the spirited effort he faced. After 6 rounds of getting beaten and being fatigued by his own mispreparation, Liston spit out his mouthpiece and told his cornermen "That's it"/. They initially thought it meant that he had had enough of the games and was going to get serious about business. He told them didn't you hear me? It's over. He quit right there cuz he knew he wasn't going to get much better from there.
In the second fight, Liston had prepared much better to go a distance than he did the first time, he was truly ready. Then Ali suffered a hernia and the fight had to be postponed. Liston qwas pissed cuz he knew he would have to restart his preparations, and he hated to train. He was not in the most seasoned of shape by fight time, even telling Joe Louis "I don't feel good" in the dressing room when asked how he felt. He got caught with a solid shot coming in, was dazed and down, then decided he was going to try his luck elsewhere in Lewiston. Simple as that, Ali was the stronger man internally.

you know i could disprove any of those statements but i can't be arsed!
I think Liston would beat Tyson, but no way was he anywhere near as fast.
I agree, he didn't have the handspeed that Tyson had, and in most of his fights he was a much more cautious fighter than Tyson was, he used is jab alot more.
lol Sonny Liston's quicker than tyson? Some people tend to overestimate the past...

Liston would have destroyed Tyson, Liston was much stronger and quicker.

Tyson 36 when he fought Lewis, and look how shot he was.
Liston was past it, whether it was age, lack of motivation, the alignment of the planets, lol
Not saying that he would have won in his prime, but that wasn't his prime.
Liston Prime was before he even won the title imo.

Here's one source that backs up what I said in my previous post;

Not true.
The 1930 census came out a few years ago, and there was no listing for Charles L. Liston having been born yet...The census people did visit the Liston family's household too, as evident by them having listings for his mother (Helen), father (Tobin), three brothers (J.T., Leo, and Curtis), and three sisters (Clytee, Annie, and Alcora).
Liston was no older than 32 or 33 when Ali fought him the first time.
