no arguments here! he is the greatest for a reason! dude was awesome he had power, timing, movement, he could take a punch he would brawl, he would box you name it...
he is my favorite.
actually that's crazy:
when their career started, robinson was at LW, charles at MW. by the time robinson was MW champ, charles was fighting at HW.
when did he duck him? was there ever talk about the two fighting?
No question about Robinson - the amount of top people he fought & beat convincingly was amazing (although he did duck Burley as well as Ezzard Charles, & never gave Ralph Jones a rematch, whom he lost to in his first comeback fight)
I'd put Harry Greb over Mickey Walker in K-Dogg's top ten - Greb beat Walker when Greb was in the last days of his career in probably his last great performance, & was a middleweight who regularly fought & beat much bigger men, holding the Light Heavy crown in very talent rich time.
I'd probably put Alexis Arguello in at 10 as well.
ducking charles??? I dont know about that...
was there ever a time their weigh was reasoanbly close?

how did the two words "Jermain" and "Taylor" entered a thread about the greatest p4p fighter ever?
I thought that when you said x and y should not be mentioned in the same breath, it had to be an overstatement. but seeing Greb and Taylor next to each other made me understand that it need not be the case
For what it's worth, today's list of ATG p4p'ers:
1. Ray Robinson
2. Henry Armstrong
3. Willie Pep
4. Robert Fitzsimmons
5. Sam Langford
6. Joe Louis
7. Roberto Duran
8. Joe Gans
9. Ezzard Charles
10. Mickey Walker
...of course, I'll change it tomorrow.
This is a great list, but where's Ali?
P4P
1. Ray Robinson
2. Henry Armstrong
3. Willie Pep
I'm on the fence between Armstrong and Robinson. Because Armstrong had the single greatest year ever in boxing by winning and holding 3 titles in SEPERATE DIVISIONS. But Robinson by far fought the toughest opponents over the course of his career and almost won the lightheavy weight crown. So I'm really conflicted but I would have to put Robinson 1 and Armstrong 2. Willie "The Wasp" Pep definately needs to get recognition, not only did he go 61-0 before his first defeat, he also recoved from a plane crash to box again and amassed 242 wins with only 11 loses
^thats my top 3 of all time as well same order.

if u change it, i'd flip 10 and 7, no disrespect to duran, he's an alltime great lightweight, but i think mickey walker was better. walker was better at lt hw and hw than duran was at middlweight.
bob fitzsimmons was a middleweight that fought at heavy and apparently had 1 punch KO power even then!
however theres no footage of him so i would have to say SRR is the best pound for pound
i've seen film of fitzsimmons, but it's very short and very bad quality, not good enough to see any of his skills
Ketchel was a monster, no doubt. Personaly I can't squeeze him onto my p4p all time list; but no alltime middleweight list would be complete without him IMHO. Ketchel's one of thost old timers that would give any of today's middles a fight...probably most lhw's too. He'd kill Taylor IMO.
ketchel would destroy taylor it'd look alot like calazghe lacy, except taylor gets knocked the fuck out in round 5, harry greb would fuck taylor up too
guys dont mind TONY J he is just a troll thats XCARET aka Hector J!
He took a knock at sugar ray robinson quiting on his stool...but yet he puts roberto duran as his number 2 for saying no mas...hmmm...

On his best nights(which were very plentiful)Sugar Ray Robinson could beat anyone in game past or present and probably will be considered the greatest boxer of all time. SRR was so successful and great in what I consider the "golden era" of boxing because of the immense popularity of boxing back then and the easeness in which fights were made which enabled him to develope his amazing talent as a fighter. Just look at those highlights, he was a freakin machine with his explosiveness, timing, accuracy, and power punching.
We were neurophobic and perfect
the day that we lost our souls
machines that wished they were human
If they cry they will rust
And I was a hand grenade
That never stopped exploding
You were automatic and as hollow as the "o" in god
Interesting...who wrote that?

There's footage of Fitz beating Corbett for the Heavyweight title.
