I wasn't there but a friend who was at the press conference (and works for La Opinion newspaper) said Floyd announce his retirement........He was crying and saying he retired.
****Update**** Floyd said after his next fight, he will retire. So, he will be fighting one more fight.
he should retire when he faces someone thats a real challenge and make him the underdog.
there is nobody from 140 to 154 that he would be a realistic underdog to, nobody.
Mayweather is a great fighter. But if there was anything to "nic pick on" I would say he, doesn't have that killer instinct. He was winning the fight easy, it would of been nice to see him try to close the show. If he couldn't no big deal....but least he tried. That's just my opinion....
Mayweather defend your titles against Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, Carlos Quintana, Ricky Hatton, and than fight De LaHoya.
Mayweather could (maybe) be beaten at Welterweight by:
Antonio Margarito
Paul Williams
If he would have stood and traded punches with Baldomir; he would have lost that fight. Footwork won him the fight. :boxing:
It would be foolish to stand and trade punches with someone who is stronger than you, and larger of a man than you.
well if he fights DLH he aint gon retire..why would he retire on a loss...if he fights someone else, he will win...less mayb its Hatton or Cotto, however i think DLH the only man left who can outwitt him in a close one...he should retire soon as bein undefeated do what no one besides Marciano has done....

So Mayweather can't be considered great because no one can touch him? He should openly engage and let guys get shots in then he'd be great! An all-time great! Just like Gatti!
Respect?
He can be respected as a decent champ, but no more.
Duran had cases of indigestion which would make him run away and hide.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler had farts that would have put him on his ass.
He's a skilled fighter but talk of him as one of the greats is just ignorant. Retiring would be smart for him as he's made his money and it would be good for fans because we're tired of his tripe.
it aint shocking at all
look at his attitude during the post fight interview
its that of someone out right sayin
fuk man
will you ever give me my credit
and if not
u know what
im gonna take the respect
fuk what u think
i dont need to take this shit
as some have already said
floyds def done enough to retire
and it seems the more he does
the guys he fights that each one is suppose to not be lke the last
end up being
just like the last
but its not them
its him
if he decides to retire
i understand him
but he def can go on longer if he wants
nothing but respect floyd
cuz he seems like that kinda cat
hes got the money fame and life
but he still loves to get that respect
respect for what he does
respect for what he is
Floyd has been dominant since he begin his boxing career. He has never had any kind of real trouble in the ring and although that should further enhance his stature as a truely all time great I think it'll hurt his legacy going out like that.
He was never truely tested in the ring and to be considered one of the greatest of all time you need those brutal wars that test your heart and will.
this is just a ploy to gain more money from the de la hoya fight if it happens , floyd will say that it is alsop hes last mtach and deserves somut stupid like
50/50 split and de la hoya will turn it down and then he can go along and fight shane mosley 9who i think is the lesser opponent outta the 2) on the lines that oscar ducked him
he's playin the good ol' sugar ray leonard mind games:tapedshut
I'm with versatile on this, many boxers 'retire' but come out when it suits them.
It raises the profile and generates more money when they have to tempted out of retirement, SR Leonard did it a few times and it never hurt his reputation.
PBF has more to offer I'm sure!
Maybe foyd is just playin hard to get. Maybe he expects hoya to call him after hearing this news and tell him, "hey bro, don't do that. Boxing will it's best fighter you know. If you want I'm going to fight you and then you can fight margarito and hatton and castillo again. Any fighter you want, just don't leave" :lol1:
You're forgetting one of the main reasons why he keep selling out arens is because he always came to fight that in turn also helped him with cross over applear and it didn't hurt that fought the toughest opponets available. And if he got you hurt, he'd try to end the fight with a quickness. Just take a looke at his early fights, all he wanted to do was go to war and ko his opponet and if you managed to knock him down, then that just pissed him off and he's return the favor.
Very true...
I dont think its his fault he doesnt draw. Lets be real the main reason DLH drew was because he was Mexican American and good looking. He had a diverse fanbase. he can appeal to females and the huge Mexican fanbase. Mayweather doesnt have an appealing style to the casual fan either.

Im telling you it was Larry Merchant. You gotta love the old bastard.
he did seem like those comments got under his skin....getting criticized after a lopsided victory cant be easy...
Im sure he'll fight oscar,I just always hoped him and cotto would meet @ 147.
