Lol @ thinking a 5'9 dude like Mike getting knee'd in the head as he tries to close distance by a 6'4 guy guy who trains to do it is some kind of martial arts movie **** when Jon has done it repeatedly against actual MMA fighters who train to defend against it

Not to mention hes ended at least 2 fights off the top of my head with a standing guillotine but how could he possibly do it to a 5'9 boxer who has never trained to defend against it lol.

I used the word "jump" figuratively. You know as in, getting the jump on your opponent. Do you seriously think that, if 2 guys face off in a beef that turns physical, a knee to the head from one guy is going to connect before a punch to the head from the other?

That's ridiculous, and posting pictures of JJ kneeing somebody in the head during an MMA match doesn't make it any more plausible. As I said, an MMA match is not a street fight. Combat sports and street fights are 2 different universes. Yes, combat sports training will give you an edge in a street fight. But in an all out fight, no holds barred, against an opponent who might bite you, gouge your eyes, grab and twist your testicles, ears, fingers, whatever, the best tactic is to render him unconscious asap.Boxing works better for that than anything else.

Do you honestly think that Jon Jones would keep it on the feet vs a boxer of any sort? Some of you should try fighting a wrestler some time... Boxers do not do well in MMA unless there's rules or agreements in place to keep it standing, as in the case of Mercer v Sylvia. When there's not, it goes like it did for Mercer vs Kimbo Slice...

Mate, nobody is going to keep a standing guillotine on for 2 seconds if they are getting their bollocks punched or twisted.

Against Mike Tyson in a street fight, I don't think he would be able to stay on his feet for more than a few seconds, even if he tried.

You realise punching people in the balls was legal in the early years of the UFC right? its not the magic defence against grappling you think it is. You're seriously underestimating the effectiveness of a good grappler and overestimating the kind of free will the other guy will have to defend against it, especially considering if a choke is locked in they are seconds away from going unconscious, and the panic that tends to induce. You dont just have the ability to calmly go after someones balls while they're ragdolling you around and squeezing your neck.

What exactly is different about a street fight that would prevent Jon from kneeing someone in the head?

This makes no sense. Why would boxing work better for that than the combat sport with the least rules and way more variables that you might encounter "on the street"? Jones is known for gouging his opponents eyes and stomping at their knees. Even though its not technically legal guys get their eyes gouged or kicked in the balls in like 50% of fights in MMA, so why would boxers be more familiar with it and able to use it to their advantage?

Plus almost all of the techniques youre mentioning would work best for a guy who was able to outgrapple his opponent. A dude like Khamzat could take someone down and eat their ****ing face or pull their eyes out of the sockets with ease.

Jon jones only fights middle weights that are 10 years+ older than him , his boxing is his biggest weakness despite his range , and his wrestling hasn't looked good as a HW , only a few crappy judo trips. That anybody can learn how to defend.

The only time he fought on the streets was against Frank Mir , and Frank whooped him.
