There's any easy way to resolve this debate.
Why doesn't any top boxer sign with the UFC, get paid a boatload of money and fight whoever the champion is in that weight class? Free money.
See how that goes for themComment

No version of JJ would stand a chance in any fight where there are no rulesComment

So you're saying Jon, a guy who was always regarded as being massive for the 205lb division, was actually below the weight limit in his prime? ****ing clueless
The guy has never weighed less than 225 in the UFC guaranteed.Comment

What kind of backwards logic is that?

The only people that are going to disagree with me are also people that dont know **** about any kind of fighting on a technical level outside of boxing. Because this is not my "opinion" or something up for debate, its common ****ing sense proven stuff. I mean you get that boxing is part of MMA right? meaning its pressure tested against all other techniques so any shortcomings it has in an environment that allows kicking, grappling etc are found out. For instance you talk about Ali keeping MMA fighters at arms reach, errr the MMA fighter also has the kicking range option which is longer than punching range. So Ali somehow keeps himself at a perfect middle distance where he cant get kicked but also cant get wrestled? ooookay then. We will just ignore that he got hospitalized by a ****ing pro wrestler with proto-MMA skills who was banned from doing virtually anything to him.

2) Most prime athletes are lighter. Tend to gain weight later in life (unless boxers are moving up in div)

Ok it's irrelevant because he doesn't need to be in his prime any way to kill a 1988 version of Mike Tyson in 1 minute flat.
Why would you think the fighter who competes in a sport with way less rules wouldn't be favoured over the fighter who competes in a sport with way more rules?
What kind of backwards logic is that?
You can say I loathe him
BUT....
JJ vs Mike in the street... the best way I can describe it is Hulk vs Loki
The "best" opps JJ fought are bucket holders in the boxing world.
JJ's earnings hover between 3 and 15 mil
MMA "legends" are getting r@ped financially
