    Sry your thread failed
It isnt my thread, and i'm not emotionally invested at all, i'm just someone who watches both sports and has trained in multiple combat sports so have a ****ing clue what i'm talking about. I actually think boxing is harder on the body and more difficult overall, and has plenty of guys who would have had raw potential in MMA IF THEY HAD TRAINED FOR IT. But the reality is the MMA fighters train for a sport that from the outset was designed to prove who the best fighters in the world are in the literal sense that they have to be equipped to deal with every other form of combat in that arena, while boxing is among the most limited of combat sports . Again, its just common sense who is going to have the advantage in most situations.

As for the weight thing, again, Jon Jones competed in the 205lb weight limit division, and was massive for the division, the guys that compete in the division below (185lbs) usually weigh over 200lbs, even some of the guys competing at 170lb weigh around the 200lb mark. So no, Jon was never 200lbs. Like I said, 225 at the lowest. He is not a small man, only reason hes ever looked "skinny" is because hes 6'4 with literal Tyson Fury reach. By all accounts he is strong as **** as well.

This is such a ****** take lol. They are not boxers, and boxers arent MMA fighters. Multiple of those "bucket holders" would stop Usyk inside a round in MMA.

Last comment from me on the subject, then I'm moving on.

The "best" opps JJ had shelf lives on 5 minutes.

Yes, some knucklehead UFC fans really are stupid enough to not know that an MMA fight has rules, same as other combat sports.

Two of those rules were specifically introduced to make it easier for grapplers to take down strike fighters without getting punched or kicked into a coma.

Nothing you wrote there has any bearing on whether or not Jon Jones could beat Mike Tyson in a street fight. You are talking about combat sports with rules and officials to enforce them. Street fighting is a different universe.

It's my opinion that in a street fight, or a bar fight, a fast, viscous, explosive power puncher like Mike Tyson, with his compact build, short arms, and ability to render 250lb men unconscious with one blow, while wearing 10 oz boxing gloves, would be a nightmare for lanky, rangy guy like JJ.

Street fights tend to be stand up brawls.

                  Boxer wins easy.

Why doesn't any top boxer sign with the UFC, get paid a boatload of money and fight whoever the champion is in that weight class? Free money.

See how that goes for them
Top boxers make more money in the ring than they could make in the UFC. Much more. Maybe you should consider why, knowing that, top UFC fighters devoted themselves to MMA, rather than boxing?

This is true. The last thing you want to be doing in a street fight is rolling around on the ground, up close and personal with an opponent who might be drunk, high as a kite, and/or a viscous psychotic. I say this as someone who witnessed the aftermath of a street fight where one guy bit another guy's nose off: Ambulance and police cars, police officers with torches searching the ground for the guy's missing nose, "assisted" aka hindered, by a crowd of drunk females.
