you asked what do you have to do with us? We smash all comers, 100% victories. You name any hispanic boxing champion and I bet he got his ass whipped by a African American!
Ricardo Lopez.
Hopkins. Not fancy like Ali or SRL, but could create any angles he wanted with the slightest pivot. Always on balance and near impossible to pin him on the ropes, let alone the corner. Oh, and all of this was done using whilst preserving energy. Efficient feet > fancy feet.
Dan's a very good poster but I think he's wrong on this one. Lara was getting drilled to the body all night. Simply put; his 'boxing' was not effective, and unfortunately for him, championship fights don't abide by Olympic rules. As Cupo said, the fight aesthetics greatly favored Canelo. He controlled ring, gave more pain than he took, and had his opponent fighting scared the whole fight. I think 7-5 Canelo is a very fair and reasonable score.
2 division champ, 100% KO ratio beat amazing boxers with decent careers.
He was making HOF's 2-3 weight classes above him quit in sparring.
He had an aura about him that was amazing All Time Greatesque even.
It's obvious that he was going to do amazing things in his career had it not been cut short. He's a legend and one of my personal favorites.
Wish there was a better way to honor him other than just acouple of sigs

I Miss You Champ, you had nothing left to prove to me
you're overrating him imo. i think he's very lucky not to have fought any great fighters like marquez (who would have exposed him badly)
Funny thing is after this fight we will still have clowns saying they ducking them lol, how can you duck people who pose no threats.
IMO he tried to secure fights with real threats, P.will. Ortiz, Kirkland, LOL.
Face it Canelo is the best 154 out their.
it's easy to look good against a shot-to-sh1t mosley and jww josesito lopez. canelo needs to step up his game if he wants to prove he's king at 154
i actually scored the fight 7-5 for Aydin. not saying it was a robbery but ghost didn't look that good. he was eating a lot of uppercuts and overhand rights. his footwork was slow too. he should move down to 140 imo
I voted that Cloud wins. Hopkins is an all time great but he is 45 years old. Cloud is a bull that comes to fight. I think he will put to much pressure on Hopkins for Hopkins to score another upset over a bigger, 15 year younger champion.
he's 48.........
How do y'all think he would fair now maybe at 140?
i'd pick bradley, alexander, khan, peterson, matthyesse, marquez and gurrerro to beat valero at 140. one of the most overrated fighters of this era imo
What BHop is referring to transcends boxing's mainstream veil that some of you think he's talking about. It's not about being the face of boxing, it's about his longevity, his legacy - his legend. It's pretty obvious if you actually read the interview
I never understood why these men/women who are cheated everyweek don say **** off to his pairs and move on. Now I´m a boxing fan, oh the irony!!
You never see a woman/man who let his BF/GF cheat on him and say, hey, was just a night or that ****. Boxing is the same, they are cheating on us fans and we cant say, **** off I hve enough, we are cheated next week again. I dont know another sport where this happen so much.

Complete and utter mismatch. Kelly looks good, but his opponent doesn't really qualify for a good measuring stick. Anyone else catch the ref getting to know Jaco at the end, 'where you from? California?'
hopkins doesnt have enough power(especially at 160), and hagler's chin is too good.
I think Hagler would just walk through everything.
Hopkins could bang, especially at 160.
What reach advantage? I seriously doubt Hopkins could outjab Hagler.
He wouldn't need to. He'd neutralize Hagler's jab like he does against all southpaws. His short, sharp right will be the key.
That's what I'm thinking. Hop doesn't have a great jab, at least not a jab to really stop you in your tracks. Hagler could get inside, bust his chops and then if he wanted to turn it back into a boxing match and put gramps in his wheel chair. I think he would just beat him to a pulp for 15 rounds though. Hop wouldn't get kayoed.
People are overstating the importance of the jab in this match-up. It's easy to neutralize a southpaw jab as an orthodox. Winky Wright's jab, which is possibly better than Hagler's, was rendered useless after round 1. As I've said before, Hopkin's straight-right is far more important in this match-up than his jab.
And I doubt any 160 in history could "bust chops" on the inside. It's arguable that Hopkin's inside game is superior to his outside one.
---
I think Hopkins will lose some early rounds while he assesses the situation. Eventually, Hagler will respect Hopkins' pop, accurate sneaky counter punches and lateral movement. It's possible he might get a little frustrated in the middle rounds. If Hagler tries to take the fight to the inside, neither man will be at a significant advantage.
Hopkins by a somewhat close, yet uncontroversial UD
whats up with hopkins reaction here?
nothing to see here. if i remember correctly, this particular press conference happened after the fight was signed. if you really want testing, bring it up in negotiations prior to the contract.. Pascal trying to use psychological warfare or hype up the fight, nothing more.
