83 punches over 12 rounds and Lomachenkos defense was masterful and Russell was a disgrace landing so few shots?
That is right he was mocked over his pathetic accuracy and how he seemingly expected to win a fight.
Forward on a few weeks later CANelo lands 94 over 12 rounds, most of which was actually on the elbows. He was limited to landing 20% over all and still he won!
Unbelievable.
Oh Lara didn't throw enough, Canelo threw less than 30 more!
Floyd vs Maidana, Lara vs Canelo. I just don't understand why your scoring criteria's constantly change.
lara lost in a close fight, but a guy with his style is always difficult to beat cleanly because he fights way too negatively, i hope to never see him in the ring again, guy is a disgrace
I agree, Lara made this fight much closer than it needed to be by posturing and not letting his hands go.
Even still on second viewing, I can't see how the hell Canelo supposedly won this
I am seeing 8 clear Lara rounds with a swing round, 6 being beyond doubt.
He virtually landed nothing of any significance at all but a few bodyshots.
I can't believe just how much Lara made him miss tbh
Dan's a very good poster but I think he's wrong on this one. Lara was getting drilled to the body all night. Simply put; his 'boxing' was not effective, and unfortunately for him, championship fights don't abide by Olympic rules. As Cupo said, the fight aesthetics greatly favored Canelo. He controlled ring, gave more pain than he took, and had his opponent fighting scared the whole fight. I think 7-5 Canelo is a very fair and reasonable score.
Just to add insult to injury. Here's a fun fact for those who missed it. Canelo only Landed 15 Power shots to the head in the whole fight. Grj looking mighty boss in comparison.
Only booty dew out here saying that Canelo won and judging by the quality of the only supporter of that crap score Id say Lara's golden.Night ends with No Honor no glory the most Canelo should have walked off with was a generous draw. Instead we have a cry baby defending his birthday gift on Camera to close out the night. Disgraceful
exactly, same guys saying algieri beat ruslan clearly
grj vs loma etc
so i guess they all scored floyd vs castillo for castillo?
I had
Canelo 115-113
Ruslan 114-112
Lomochenko 117-111
Floyd 114-112
I don't favor any style, I just favor who I thought won the rounds
Nowhere did I say the fights was anything alike I am pointing out how one fighter does something and gets ripped, another does more or less the same and nothing is said because it doesn't suit their agenda or weekly criteria.
You want to talk about Lara's inactivity not that his output was any worse than CONelo's how about we talk about how much Canelo's accuracy sucked and just how precise Lara's was which won him the fight he was robbed of by bent judges.
Was only a few weeks back NSB told us Lara wasn't a slick fighter :lol1:
All Lara did was a good one two, another 3 punch combo that was blocked but Paulette claimed it landed... Canelo landed a good straight down the pipe and ripped his body up, plus pressed the whole round :bottle:
L; Jab
L; Counter jab
L; S/L body
C; Left hook blocked, right hand hits glove and knocks Lara off balance. Nothing scoring in the sequence.
L; Lands a nice one-two
C; Livershot
L; Counter right scores, uppercut catches gloves, right partially blocked.
C; Left hook top of the hip
C; Misses combination, pulls Lara's head down and lands a right to the body
C; Straight right to the body
L; Jab
L; Straight left
L; Jab
C; another on the hip
Pretty clear Lara round.
Rounds 1-3 was clear Lara rounds, agree?
Rounds 10 & 11 was too, agree?
Forget the swing rounds and tell me how most of these scorecards I am seeing are even possible when one fighter won AT LEAST 5 clear cut rounds.
You might think each elbow punch and a swipe of thin air overrules 3 or 4 clean headshots, I assure you it doesn't.
Lara won this fight man.
What is this? Someone who understands boxing!!!!!!
Trolls are out in full force tonight ... No biggie, they know what they saw.
This isn't the first time Lara has been robbed either so it's business as usual. Goldenboy got to hold on to their golden goose for a little while longer but the blueprint has been set and there aren't enough bums out there to keep the ginger winning...
Russell showed he wasn't ready or not good enough for the world class level..
Both Lara and canelo have proven they are world class, regardless of who u thought won..

I gave Lara 1,2,3,10, and 12. I can't see how you can give Lara any other rounds. How, on what basis? It sure as hell wasn't activity, because there were rounds where he pretty much didn't do sh*t. Like others here have said, it was frustrating to watch Lara pretty much throw the fight away. He can only blame himself for the loss. This isn't the amateurs were you can win a fight by landing 9 or 10 total punches. He needs to understand this. Also, what's with this moving 10-15 ft away from your opponent and calling this "boxing," at least stay within punching range. I'm sorry, but tonight Lara f*cking ran.
As far as the Russell Jr. comparison, you are reaching here. Russell Jr. threw a lot but wasn't close to reaching his target, he was shadow boxing. Lomanchenko beat the sh*t out of him and was good defensively and offensively. Lara made Canelo miss, but hardly had any offense. Plus, when Canelo landed he had the harder and more effective damaging punches, plus great body work. If Lara didn't take f*cking rounds off, the fight would of been his. But, he did, so the right man won.
Yes, if we ignore everything else and just focus on the numbers.
But if we look at the subjective aesthetics of both fights, it's comparing apples to oranges. Lara didn't land anything remotely close to as effective as Lama did to Russel.
Sarcasm bro
I agreed with you. This fight and Lomo vs GRJ were nothing a like

Remember Gary Russell Jr only landing | BoxingScene Community
