This is how bad ass Floyd is. Mfers still bringing up his old fights in the non-history section like it happened last week or some sh^t.
Disagree doe. I think this was a 9-3, 8-4 Floyd decision. I didn't need to see a rematch of this one and was disappointed a rematch happened cuz I'd rather have seen other fights, but respect to Floyd listening to his biggest haters who said he shoulda lost this one and rematching Marcos.
That's one thing even the haters should dig about Floyd is when a certain critical mass of fans thought he lost a fight the two times it happened Floyd gave that guy an immediate rematch which isn't a common thing A sides do. They usually just try to forget about that fight glad they got the W and keep it moving forward.
No ****ing Way, I can see 7-5 Floyd, but your scoring is way off! You should watch it again, I'm not someone who scores for aggression either, but Floyd let that fight getaway from him. He seemed to get some composure back in the 4th but then the cut happened and he was panicking for a while after in the ring and in the corner.
He unlocked something in the middle of the 6th, but it was at worst 7-5 either way, if you're going to lean in a direction, it would be Maidana. Floyd was getting out-jabbed in spots, it wasnt just a mauling, Maidana's attack was varied, he was hitting harder, at times dirty, and relentless.
I always thought the first Castillo fight was more controversial, a fight which I thought was a draw, but on second view this was equal to that.
No doubt Floyd is a bad mofo, one of the best to do it...that doesn't make any of the above untrue...its not a undermining exercise...I really feel Floyd had the luck of the gods on the night, and I do think many times in his career, the preconception that he was the "master boxer" in the ring meant judges scored rounds with that perception in mind, this doesn't just apply to him, but it happens in general. I'll give you an example, seeing as you're a Floyd fan, watch his fight with Cotto, specifically rd3, a boxing round for the most part...a round where the general perception is that Floyd won...I actually think Cotto won it, his jab and body punching. On the flip side, there are rounds in the Jesus Chavez fight that were scored against Floyd because he was "outworked" but I actually thought he won by brawling.
The fact that he didn't lose very many rounds throughout his career means that it didn't really matter...but Maidana was unlucky this night.
