Brook did fight the better guy, Khan would've been knocked by the punches Brook took in the first rpund and Kell might just be capable pf beating both Khan and Canelo.
Granted, some might argue some of those points, but I'm pretty sure that's not the worst post of the week.
It was the hospital reference...
Like I said, all of Kell's effort produced one good round, a couple of competitive ones, an obliterated eye and getting TKO'd before the fight was half over. That's called an ass beating.
Credit for trying though!
Yea and it was a under par golovkin. Any rematch would be only serious health concerns for golovkin.
Problem is if he only took over starting with the 7th, that's 5 rounds max he could have won.
Add the knockdown, you get to an 8-4 win for Kovalev.
Exactly, at best ward split the rounds 7 onwards. He improved from 7 rounds onwards, but no way did he win every single round. He lost the first 5/6.
Ita impossible that kovalev lost this match, mathematically and physically.
Ward made Kovalev look one dimensional in the second half of the fight.
Kovalev didn't adjust, he was aimlessly being led around the ring by Ward and getting pot shotted on the inside. He didn't look comfortable or in control. Ward at least looked like he was executing his gameplanq with success, more so than Sergey.
I'd like to see a rematch, but I think Ward will win easier next time round. It's always the way with smart, skilled boxers like Ward, you generally only get one chance to shock them, as when they've figured you out it's child's play for them.
Wards got outladed every round pretty much, plus kovalev landed the more effective strikes.
Its fact that kovalev won this fight.
My point is to the ward nuthuggers who claim that there are so many hard to score, close rounds, okay, lets say there were, how do you get all three score cards exactly the same. You would have a wide range of scoring due the the close nature. The odds of all three judges getting 114 113 on a "extremely close fight" is incredibly rare. The fact that All three judges saw it in the minority range and scored it exactly the same is a very far stretch.
Dunno. From my perspective, Ward lost 1-6 absolutely. The tossup rounds were 8-11 in my book.
So that's 6 rounds for Kovalev already, one of which had a knockdown.
I gave Ward 12. I felt he did just enough in all but round 11. That's 5 rounds.
The only other round, even if you gave it to Ward, it doesn't matter because of the knockdown.
The problem is that people actually were giving Ward rounds in the first half and I frankly don't see why. He wasn't doing anything but getting caught with jabs all night long!
good post....
Excellent trainer, Kovalev is a natural talent, not sure if I give him much credit for Kovalev but he has some prospects that he works with or has worked with like Erikson Lubin and others, also working with Algeiri and now Bryant Jennings, will be interesting to see what he will be able to do with Bryant Jennings. Despite losing to Wlad, Jennings might still be the best American Heavyweight he is just more skilled than Wilder and others and also showed a damn good Chin vs Wlad. If JDJ can help him with his Offense then Jennings is going to be very tough to deal with. I know he said he got tired of training ungrateful American Fighters. Could you imagine trying to train someone like Broner, I know it is very Difficult to train guys who think they're already stars but haven't done anything in the sport so I don't blame him
But yeah JDJ is a excellent Trainer! He looks like Superfly :lol1:

Kovalevs jab has improved much more, his technique in general. Before he was with jdj he was very good with power but a bit wild, now it looks alot more cordinated, especially that one two with the jab he has.
Good thread fam.
In recent memory it is without a doubt the hottest boxing match. LeMule is a 10/10 while GGG is a 7.5/10. If Golovkin gets a nice tan ill bump him to a 8/10.
David is #1 P4P on my Boxing Sex list while Golovkin is #5
I think frampton and lomochenko are less greasy and better looking than lemineux. Tom brady is handsome mind.
In the post-fight interview he said he did that because he wanted the fight to last longer so he was hoping Mo would get up so the fans have a longer fight, more bang for the buck so to speak.
Kovalev always looks much bigger than his opponents. He's basically a cruiserweight fighting at light heavy. Will be interesting to see what happens when he moves up in weight and fights guys his own size.
Kovalevs barely over 6ft. The heavyweights now are basketball player size. He would get destroed, even by deontay wilder.
My top 5 list goes
1-David Lemieux
2-Loma
3-Frampton
4-Andy Lee
5-GGG
The middleweight division is loaded with good looking guys. You can't forget about Danny Jacobs either.
Danny jacobs is a horrendous shout. Algeiri, wlad and frank belioni are good shouts

This did not get the coverage it deserved imo. Mike alvarado is a tough mofo. But ruslan win or lose is scary.
"I'll light a candle for him"
I signed the contract one month before him"
"I don't fight for money or belts, I fight for the respect of my people"
You saw the fear in both mikes and max s eyes.
The froch groves one is very interesting, as froch the second time round was really mentally prepsred
LMAO a t"froch getting whipped". No, he lost 115-113, and won the last 3 rounds. Hardly getting whipped.
Froch Whipped Ward in this, he wa a badass when he talked about how he should have been disqualified against Kessler for his Billy goat gruff antics, and he was a badass in regards to fighting dirty. Ward was bricking it when Froch said that stuff about glen johnson.
That's why Golovkin is so desperate to travel to "the Island of England" (lol) to fight him.
Dirks got the best avy and simultaneously proves my point, love or hate him he rings excitement to the supermiddle weight division.
What's funny Degale would skool Callum Smith........
Not if he stays on the ropes again for 5 rounds taking Callums body shots.
Degale looks good for two rounds then takes 5 rounds off.
Murray could beat Degale potentially....
I was trying to think of someone to compare his power too and saw this and have to agree. His speed may not be too great and his shots can be telegraphed a little etc, but if he gets in a good one you can pretty much bet that you will feel it.
He might not blast everyone out of there but his power is enough to consider him a powerful puncher.
I regards to how it could possibly compare to GGG, I think GGG hits a lot harder and has better shots. I am not sure who would win that fight if it happened, I'd be torn between two guys on my list of current favourites but think my head would favour GGG though.

Look at froch on Yusef mack, broke both ribs...
Canelo-Fair cop, i scored this 4 rounds victory for Floyd. This is the best ive ever seen him fight personally. Even then though he weight drained a green fighter. But fairs fair, he boxed well imo.
...
huh, i mentioned the Canelo fight and duely gave him props. But the dude was weight drained. Hardly a masterclass.
LMAO its my opinion and those are the fight i have seen, and the ones i mentioned the nearest ot a "masterclass" was Canelo.
Lol at calling me racist when i have clearly stated tha AMIR Khan is a "joy to watch"
So Froch beats a death row of comp, and only loses to ward by 2 points and scrapes into the top ten, yet these two chumps with Zero big names on resume jump in at top 3???Over Kovelev, Golovkin, Wlad, lomochenko etc????
Get the **** out of here....
Your obviously a closet Floyd hater and it shows in your comment about Ortiz where you say it was exciting until Floyd knocked him out. I guess Ortiz head butting Floyd was exciting until Floyd paid him back with the same coin and then the cry babies come out. but you notice how all those guys(bigger harder punching) seem to get tamed when their in there with Floyd. The smaller brittle fisted Floyd always finds a way to win. Dude is a master.
Closet floyd hater, i openly hate him, did you not read my opening statement. plus i mentioned i dont like Amir Khan as a person, but i am memorised by his skills and style. What he does to opponents is truly a beautiful thing to watch.
i think he does have one punch power, but it's not often with how slow and clumsy he is that he gets the clean shots that'd be required
exactly, i feel alot of peop,e ave one punch power if they time it well and the oppent does not see it coming. I.E manny pac on Hatton and martinez on paul williams, marquez on Manny pac etc.
i thinnk true power is hurting someone badly when they do see it coming. Althiugh froch aint no Kovalev, he certainly hurts you. I think hes just not as good as Kovalev, Gennedy etc....which is a different debate all togather.
I think Lennox has some brain damage. Some of the rubbish he comes out with and how simple he says it is definately a sign of some damage.
The schooling from Vilati def took its toll.
