It would be easy for a fighter like kovalev to be lazy and not improve as his power is a leveler. John david jacks drills he gets kovalev doing are excellent. You can see the imorovement in kovalev when he didnt have john as his trainer.
Hes more patient, his jab is much better. His stance and balance is much better, and most importantly his defence and footwork are far superior under john david jackson.
He is the best trainer in the world imo.
Wouldn't say he's the best yet but he's definitely up there.
He might be in the running for trainer of the year if he keep up the good work with Kovalev and make Algeri win a KO in his next fight.
Excellent trainer, Kovalev is a natural talent, not sure if I give him much credit for Kovalev but he has some prospects that he works with or has worked with like Erikson Lubin and others, also working with Algeiri and now Bryant Jennings, will be interesting to see what he will be able to do with Bryant Jennings. Despite losing to Wlad, Jennings might still be the best American Heavyweight he is just more skilled than Wilder and others and also showed a damn good Chin vs Wlad. If JDJ can help him with his Offense then Jennings is going to be very tough to deal with. I know he said he got tired of training ungrateful American Fighters. Could you imagine trying to train someone like Broner, I know it is very Difficult to train guys who think they're already stars but haven't done anything in the sport so I don't blame him
But yeah JDJ is a excellent Trainer! He looks like Superfly :lol1:

Kovalevs jab has improved much more, his technique in general. Before he was with jdj he was very good with power but a bit wild, now it looks alot more cordinated, especially that one two with the jab he has.
John David Jackson is the reason why Mago is where he is now......
Definitely the best trainer.......
One black mark doesn't define a career, he's trained 5 fighters to become world champions. He'll probably train more in the future.
What he did with Algieri was eye popping. Also props to Algeiri for changing his style and training style.
Thats not easy to do that quick, anyone who's boxed will tell you that.
I loved how JDJ said before the fight Kahn had no inside game, and chris was going to go right at him. He was dead right.

He's done a great job with Kovalev. He's really rounded Kovalev's skill set out and turned him into a better fighter. I'd say the only serious flaw that still needs to be ironed out is Kovalev's tendency to square up and throw himself off balance. Jackson has made a damn good fighter out of Kovalev.
And of course Sergey's ability to pick up these skills and implement them so naturally speaks to his ring intelligence.
Broner needs John David Jackson.
wrong. JD is all wrong for Broner, and odds are JD would dump Broner within a week or 2. The thing about JD is that he doesnt get involved in psychology, or motivation, or any of the "mental" stuff. He is a straight technician, and not about any foolishness. For a fighter to be successful with JD, they must be motivated (on their own) and willing / able to listen and adapt. Broner is capable of neither.
I liked what he did with Algieri with just one fight, I personally thought he won that fight. And yes Kovalev is improving, looking slicker each fight, a lot of fighters with his power would get stuck in a rut by just depending on it.
Broner needs John David Jackson.
I agree- JDJ would be the best trainer for Broner, and a number of other fighters out there.
JDJ is without a doubt one of the best trainers out there, at the moment.
Agreed. He turned Algieri into a monster. He let algieri out of the cage, and in my opinion, he beat Queen Khan.
Jackson has definitely flown under the radar but he is doing good work.
Not only with Kovalev but as you say he surprisingly helped Algieri become very competitive with Amir Khan after only one training camp. That was impressive.
