I've been going through video clips on youtube and watching interviews of boxers and so many of them seem to have brain damage and punch drunk.
Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Bone Crusher Smith, Bert Cooper. Shannon Briggs, Razor Ruddock, Frank Bruno, the list goes on and on when you watch their interviews from back in the day, they seemed fine, but now they all have some sort of brain damage and slurring of words. My question is, how come Lennox Lewis doesn't show any of these problems. He's been in just as many wars, but when listening to his interviews, he's well spoken and quite intelligent. He looks to be in great health.
What gives?
Wladamir actually is very articulate. David Haye is quite sharp.
Maybe there is a relation to drug use which may help someone take more shots than they should, and that causes a lot of damage where as the bodies natural reaction to a hard punch that it an not take is getting KTFO.
Its funny but Tyson actually comes across as being quite clear headed, of all people.
And Lennox actually did deteriorate, he used to be far more articulate. He's a bit simplistic, and speaks much slower. Post fight at Klitchiko fight he didn't appear to find the words he normally would.
I think Lennox has some brain damage. Some of the rubbish he comes out with and how simple he says it is definately a sign of some damage.
The schooling from Vilati def took its toll.
How would you know. Anyway, as others hint, he wasn't ever the brightest listening to him speak.
I'll never understand people's need to **** on a fighters intelligence. When I hear it I always think back to the Richard Pryor stand up where he was talking about Leon Spinks. "Hey, Leon. What do you do for a living?" "I knock mother****ers out."

Briggs is still going strong for now! Don't know if Tyson is significantly brain damaged like the others, i think he just has a lisp.
It's pretty obvious i think. Big behemoths hitting each other flush for years, like others said Lewis didn't go one fight too many in the sport.
Foreman is another one who doesn't slur and he is quite a bit older than Lewis.

Lennox was wise He knew the right time to call it a day. He beat every man he ever faced in the pro ring. There was nothing else to prove Bowe ran like a fat hare from him. Wlad went into hiding when he saw Vitali's face Ike Ibeabuchi was otherwise engaged due to a $$ grabbing hooker there was no other serios opponent for him so he retired
He is now a Happy Healthy Wealthy Contented man with a great family.
Thankyou Lennox for Everything!!!
He was a smart boxer. Avoided punishment. I thought that was pretty apparent. "Remember that war Lennox Lewis was in," said no one ever.
That's exactly it. He was ko'd twice in his whole career and that was from one punch, not an accumulated beating. Other than that I've seen him rocked a handful of times or less. Briggs, grant, zlotanwhatever the hell his name was and klitschko are the only guys I recall even hitting him clean and staggering him. The vitali fight was his hardest outside of the losses. Best heavyweight I've ever seen.
I wasn't talking to you.
That's fine. I was talking to you. That's how these public forums work. Og course, you could simply use the private message function. Or you could ignore me.
I just asked you a simple question. Where were you going with your statement. "at least he's not in a coma like..."
Which is also not correct btw.
Apparent Brain Damage
I think the proper term should be apparent brain damage. i think it's safe to say that science has done enough research on the matter of brain injuries from contact sports like boxing to say just about all prize fighters have some amount of brain damage. Think about it, the whole purpose in boxing is to try and short circuit your opponents brain by punching them in the head!
Lennox was never too bright, but yeah, boxing didn't do him much harm.
That's what happens when you dominate the vast majority of your fights and didn't take too much punishment.
Also knowing when it is time to quit is a big one.
