It was no lucky punch. If you watched from the beginning of the 2nd round, you can see how Martinez was timing PWill with that overhead left. Williams was hit by it a couple times until it finally landed flush and knocked him out.
Williams will be back. All he needs to do his work on his defense a little bit.
I think it's possible to teach an old dog new tricks. How difficult is it to defend from an over hand left? I believe the answer lies with a new trainer.
Garbage fight. A-Force (or whatever Audley calls himself) is washed-up and doesn't deserve this fight. I'm surprised Haye is even considering the bout. What a coward!
Alexander's speed and high punch output were his "smoke and mirrors" to the judges. This is a case of the busier fighter getting the nod from the judges. Th fight was much closer than the judge's final score cards. Alexander is an excellent fighter but he needs to work on his defense. Can't believe how susceptible he was to Koltelnik's jabs and straight rights.
Bring on the rematch!!
Floyd may have some issues dealing with Manny's speed, southpaw stance and his masterful ability to "turn" his opponents. Does anyone remember all the problems Floyd had with Zab Judah? Granted...Floyd adjusted, but I don't think he's going to have that much time against Manny to do th same thing. Manny's endurance/stamina/power of late has been off the charts. I just don't see Floyd cruising to a easy victory over Manny. If Floyd does win (and that's a BIG "IF"), it's going to be split decision and he's going have the war wounds to show for it.
If Taylor and his coaches can't solve his stamina issues, then there is really no reason for me to believe he can capture another title and hold it. At best, I see Taylor as another Zab Judah... He can beat some of the elite fighters, but can easliy lose to a few of the mediocre fighters in the division.
Margarito is a beast! This guy deserves much respect. On the other hand, you have to give Mosley big props for taking this fight! Both men have built their careers on fighting the best and taking on all comers. I wish we had more fighters with their heart! Prediction...Margarito. Margarito is like the Terminator...the man won't stop coming after you until he wipes you out!
Tarver has been shot for years now. His style of "Jab and wait for the big shot" has been his worst enemy. That type of boxing only works with guys with weak chins or lack of experience. Taver needs to hang it up and look for another profession. Rematch with Dawson...who wants to see that?? The rematch (if it happens) will result in the same outcome. Either a large win on points for Dawson or perhaps a KO.
Tarver is done. He should become an announcer tho.
"Done" is a little strong...don't you think? Tarver has a few more fights in him. The concern I have is there nobody else in his division he could fight that would make a difference to his career.
JT is legit and it wouldn't surprise me he wins the tournament (I'm not saying he will..but I can see it happening). The problem is, and will always be JT's inability to dominate fights when he gets into deep waters. JT's stamina and his lack of "ring smarts" seems to be his major problems. JTs only hope is to take his Abraham out early, otherwise were going to see another brutal KO similar to the Pavlik fight.
To be honest, I'm not sure who he could fight that would bring money and credibilty. He's already fought top 3 or 4 fighters in the division. The only left is Cloud...bur what does he accomplish by fighting him?
It will be a close fight, in fact Taylor will win some rounds. But I have a feeling Abraham will stop him in a later round, 9th to 11th.
Co-sign. Taylor's key to victory is getting through the last 2 rounds. If his stamina and "heart" doesn't hold up, I see a KO by Abraham.
stop the bullshit.. no more tune ups. this is getting ridiculous and pathetic.
Agree. It's clear with the fight Marquez that Mayweather doesn't need a tune-ups.
Listen...Mayweather is fighting for money and to solidify his HOF status. A warm-up fight would be meaningless at this point in his career. Mayweather is only going to fight guys with little to no risk who can bring him the most money.
Naseem was a decent fighter with good power. If he can stay focus and cut the foolisness, there is no reason he can't come back and compete with the top Feather weights (assuming he can drop some pounds).
