I remember sitting in the living room on the pc with my dad on the couch, when he told me to watch the t.v for a minute.
I saw this very clip of Muhummad Ali and was awestruck. I remember saying 'that's unreal'. My dad was delighted- it turns out my brother had said the exact same thing.

After that, I learned everything that I could about Ali, and gradually, over time, pieced together the tapestry of boxing history by branching out through the fighters that he fought.
So how bout it? Anyone else have any similar stories? What lured you to the sweet science?
:boxing:
p.s if anyone could tell me how to embed these bastard links it would be appreciated.
when i decided i wanted to be a boxer, started to do some research on fighters saw mayweather, watched his fights, tried to educate myself about the sport came across roy jones and i've been hooked on boxing like a crack head hooked on crack
Hahaha, I know man, it's a tough habit to break. I log into this place at least 10 times a day to see what's going on.
When the Contender first aired. I was working out doing cardio and weights at the time, but didnt really have a sport I was dedicated to. After watching an episode of the contender I remember going out for my usual run and couldnt stop thinking about how amazing the show was. A couple of days after I bought Fight Night Round 3 and was playing it at a friend's place and he looked up Roy Jones on youtube and he was like: Whoa..wtf! holy shit! We'd never seen anything like this and I became instantly hooked.
When i was little i use to watch my dad get punchy when he watch two men box, So i ask him what that was and he explain to me that it was a sport call boxing.
That was in the 80's and the star then was Sugar ray leonard, He told me how Ray was a hated figure because he was a great fighter but arrogant as hell, Since then i was hooked but i started boxing after seeing was NAZ use to do.
Prince naseem hamed
I was 7 years old and I saw some interview segments of him on sky sports I think it was and they were showing some of his highlights and I was just in awe of his style
and I was over at my uncles house and he ordered prince naseem hamed vs kevin kelly
it was naz's big debut in the states and it had been really hyped up
and jesus christ what a fight to introduce really introduce me to boxing
Born into it really. I remember watching Chavez as a wee toddler. But in the mid earlier 90's I really started to love it, Taylor-Chavez was one of the first fights I remember. But I never got to truly appreciate Chavez till I was a bit older.
Hahaha, my reason actually has nothing to do with real boxers. I became a fan when I picked up a manga called Hajime no Ippo and saw a character named Takeshi Sendo. Which lead to me watching fights of a man named Rocky Marciano. Which had me stumble upon a man named Sugar Ray Leonard. Thus I became a fan.
I always knew what boxing was but was never a fan until the events that I mentioned above.
JC Chavez vs. Hector Camacho
all my uncles and my dad watched it using the stolen black box cable where i watched all the ppv fights when i was little.
When i became a boxing fan?
When the doctor took me out of my mother and said:
It's a boy!
lol
Im saying this because a i don't see a reason. Boxing is never being broadcasted at Brazilian TV.
That's why i love internet :p
my first memory was Eubank V Calzaghe. it was kind of a big deal in my area. I live in Blackwood which is a town next to Newbridge and I have family from my mothers side from Newbridge.
Other memories include tyson.
I always liked boxing but it was guys like Eric Morales, David Tua, Roy Jones jnr, David Reid, Mike Tyson, Felix Trinadad an of course Fernando Vargas that sealed the deal for me!!!
watching a lot of Boricuas fighting mainly Trinidad then i learned more bout the sport and got additcted and also from boxing with my brother who watched it constantly
Watching the big boxing events, while my uncles drink beer, gamble and debate how to beat so and so.
haha word same here..Whitaker vs chavez is the first memory of being really excited for a fight..i was a chavez fan but hated the decision i remember my dad being pissed even though he was going for jcc
my dads a pretty big boxing fan so it was routine to always watch boxing but it has been in the last 2-3 years where it has become a huge thing in my life ... its best sport in the world!
Watching my dads Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis documentaries around 2000. Before that I had only seen a few fights. I really started getting into boxing, when Amir Khan won the silver, and was on ITV around 2004.
