Ellerbe - 'This is not the knot I wanted to tie with you, Flo.'
Floyd - 'Ellie, you so crazy. If it was me and you inside I would drop the soap every day'
If Chavez jr is on his last contracted fight with Aurum and doesn't want to sign an extension, it makes sense for him to wait to be free before what could be his most lucrative fight.
Chavez jr is underrated. He's not great by any means, but he is improving and is gradually taking better opponents and looking good doing so. I'd like him to fight someone with more power than Murray to test his chin.
ex-girlfriend abuse or something, i'm not sure. pretty ironic since martinez is always campaigning about stopping domestic violence and helping women out. not sure though.
I think it was fight related, about leaving a guy half dead after a beatdown, but I can't find any info about it.
Moral of the story:
If you're gonna call out guys in lighter weight classes, looking for a paycheck -- Don't be shocked when guys from heavier weight classes start calling you out, looking to cash-in as well.
SMFH @ what Boxing is becoming ..........
Completely agreed.
I don't think a comparison with Pacquiao is valid. It took Pacquiao lots of fights (some with very well-known boxers) on HBO to build up his popularity, starting with the Tyson-Lewis undercard ten years ago. It was a very long process. Same with Floyd.
The problem with Gamboa is he is already 30 and has been quite invisible for the average boxing fan. He has fought some good boxers but no real famous names and he doesn't have 10 years to build up his fanbase. I don't think Gamboa has the time nor the support (from fans, HBO, promoters) to become a cashcow.
I have NO DOUBT that if this fight happens, initially people will say "Mayweather is stepping big and fighting one of the best in the world", kinda like how when the Ortiz fight was made people initially said "Ortiz is a tough fight, clearly the best WW not named Pac after he beat Berto. Floyd is stepping up this time".
Ortiz was an easy pick for Floyd and a clear underdog in betting houses. Berto is a protected bum. Sergio would be a much higher quality opponent.
Still, after listening to Martinez on the radio, I didn't get the feeling that there was anything solid going on with either Pac or Floyd. It just felt like he was fishing for a few fans in Spain, doing some promo, and telling everybody Barker was such a great win because he was undefeated, meh. For once they had a boxer on the radio, it was a let down, to be honest.
I was cringing half of the time. You have these two great boxers and trainers, and you get Kellerman to **** it up with his retarded questions. At times I had to lower the volume and look away, it was embarrasing.
I wish Merchant was 50 years younger so they could get rid of Kellerman.
Ticket sales weren't great, the fight was a disappointment by the way it ended and now ppv sales may be below expectations if rumors are true. I wonder if this will lead to Floyd getting less money for his future fights.
Stop making things up dumbass.
at 3:55 the doctor says "you can't continue"
Hopkins replies "with one hand yeah"
the doctor says "no you can't"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kgwLF-Dvtc
If the doctor asks if he can continue, he knows that they won't let him go with one arm (or with one eye, or whatever). Hopkins knows this. If he really wanted to continue he would have. He didn't, he wanted out and took the first opportunity that came across. Embarrassing.
It reminded me of boxers/fighters telling the doctor they can't see because of whatever foul but they want to continue, knowing perfectly well the doctor can't let you go on if you can't see.
It was clear as water and embarrassing to watch.
I disagree. Hopkins wanted a way out of there and that's what he got, but the ref outdid him and he got ****ed. What a punk, way to tarnish a legacy. Hope they don't change it to a NC.
Aged 8 years in the past 3 years too. He was bloated and awful from steroid use when he made his comeback but he did not look terribly aged.

Must have had it rough in the past couple of years.
Tommy Morrison had pectoral implants for the picture you posted. If you see other pictures of the same fight, an mma fight at an indian reservation iirc, you can clearly see the implants. The fight didn't last much, Tommy won with a single punch, yet he was completely exhausted when the ref raised his hand. His rival was assured Tommy was completely clean by everybody involved and was paid peanuts for the fight (~1k).
Tommy is sick, he has AIDS. I don't want to badmouth a sick person, but this scumbag knows he is infected and has tried numerous times to get licensed to get fights, denying his health issues and putting in risk the well being of sparring partners, gym sharers and competitors. He is a piece of ****.
Tyson never knew what to do when clinched. Not only that, he would get tied up, start wrestling with his arms and get completely frustrated. I never understood how no trainer managed to correct that.
