If @maravillabox-JCC Jr fight, it won't be in June. Chavez wants that date, doesn't want SM as his opponent. September-October, possibly.
And this is different as opposed to the 20 reports that we've had that Chavez-Martinez is being negotiated for September 15?
According to several sources here in Mexico, the negotiations were stopped by Arum and Chavez Jr is already looking for another opponent (who's name is not Maravilla Martinez of course)
BLAH BLAH BLAAHHHH .. if Martinez is ALIVE, Chavez Jr wont fight him ever. He is a disgraceful coward.here iis what i think..Theere are a bunch of losers that always give their opinion, like who should fight who and things like that.Something that people dont realize that this is what they do for a living and there are many things to consider.Lets says for example chavez fights martinez, odds are chavez will lose,so what is next for chavez,he cant go back and fight crappy fighters because people wont buy tickets,a rematch with martinez, and if he loses again his career is done, what to do after..it takes many things to make you get to the top(real money)doesnt matter if its because the name, skills or whatever..so whya fighter should throw away the chance to make millions just because losers say otherwise..you dont like that fighter dont watch him,you wont be missed!!
Arum himself publicly said that Chavez Jr is not a great fighter, and not an elite.
When you're own promoter says this about you, you know you are a bum.
When Arum spoke about Mayweather while promoting him, he mentioned him with Ali, Leonard, Robinson to promote his name out there. Arum promoting Pacquiao, does the same thing, mentions him with the past greats to promote him. Look at what Arum said about Chavez Jr and why the Chavez Jr vs Canelo fight needs to happen.
"Neither guy looks to me to be a great fighter and either guy could lose on the way there," Arum said of Chavez and Alvarez. "Gamboa and Lopez were elite, great fighters. If (a loss) happened there, it could certainly happen with Canelo and Chavez, who are not elite fighters."
That is pretty funny.

Because, in that way he doesn't get to keep his belt.
Now I personally think the title is whack. I don't really care if a fighter is carrying a belt or not. But, I guess fighters like paying sanctioning fees :pat:
lol, and the sad thing is the wbc will continue to let him hold that belt hostage and defend it against bums. i thought the rubio fight was a turn in the right direction, but if he wont even fight andy lee then he needs to seriously just admit his career is a publicity stunt.
thing is, i think hes better than he or the ppl around him seem to think he is. just seems no1 has any faith in him which is sad.
I really dont think Chavez is ready for martinez, regardless of his size. And I think he knows he's not ready for Sergio. maybe two fights away.. But is he gonna give up that belt? hell no.
I'll be surprised if he fights sergio after this next fight..
To be honest I would be suprised if Chavez fights Martinez at all considering Arum keeps stalling on this scrap.
Personally I think Bob is holding out for a showdown with Canelo given DLH and Bob hold hands and kiss/make up again. There is a lot of money to be made considering they are both so hyped in Mexico.
But, we all know for the most part that a Chavez/Martinez fight will be a high risk fight for JR and the odds of him pulling off the upset seem slim to knill and slim is in a South Bronx basement playing dominos...
and the plot thickens. why doesnt he just come out and say he doesnt want this fight? why waste everyones time acting like this is something he wants when he clearly doesnt.
If Chavez jr is on his last contracted fight with Aurum and doesn't want to sign an extension, it makes sense for him to wait to be free before what could be his most lucrative fight.
One would think it would be a good time for Jcc Jr. to step up considering Martinez was just in a tough grueling fight and June would be a very quick turnaround for an older fighter.
IF he isn't willing to fight in June under those circumstances I don't see why he would fight him ever~

C'mon, it's obvious that they're not going to fight. Chavez Jr is avoiding Martinez like the plague. They were supposed to fight last year but Chavez Jr "asked" for permission to defend against Manfredo, then it was going to be Martinez. Then he asked again for permission to face Rubio, but hey, then it was going to be Martinez. Now we're going to see him against Margarito or someone like that, but hen it's going to be Martinez! LOL
