boxrec do it on points i think, its messed up, pavlik shouldnt be that high nor should vitali
They are up that high because of their KO percentage, a big factor in p4p. The actual fighting weight doesnt affect the ratings as much as the opposition faced, the opponents faced KO % and records, boxers KO % and longevity.

she may not be so pretty anymore.
than the other way around. Great interview with Freddie Roach.
yeah , he's right but i still personally dont like MMA as much because of the ground stuff. I just like a science in boxing more than MMA. The MMA guys have to be way more skilled in more areas to suceed and even then there is always a style that will beat another meaning not many guys are undefeated. That makes it more exciting from a matchup standpoint but i still like boxing more, its got history that MMA will never achieve.
I think it's very interesting and is pretty similar to Clottey's defense, but I think Abraham is a little bit more active and effective.
One thing we'll know is that he won't have any brain damage or anything because of that defense, right?
Abraham has no real weakness, if i was to pick one it would be not throwing enough. His defence is (as Mike would say) impenetrable from head to body. Dirrell is fast enough to catch openings but is he game enough to stand that close to Abraham? I think not.
i haven't seen enough of this guy. i've only seen the taylor and miranda fights. what other fights of his should i see?
Either Miranda fight. The first he fought with a broken jaw for most of it and just see what happens in the second when its not broken.
I hear this alot "he has improved so much since the Sanders fight"
No he hasn't, he just fought a bunch of losers that were never that good in the first place. The way most Klitschko supporters seem to evade the fact that he's been knocked out on three seperate occasions by Ross Puritty, Corrie Sanders, and Lamon Brewster is to simply say that he has gotten alot better and that it will never happen again. None of the fighters he's beaten since his last loss are that good: Calvin Brock (trash) Ray Austin (trash) Ibragimov in a technical mismatch, Tony Thompson (trash) Rahman in decline, and Chagaev in another mismatch. The way he fights is so boring that it makes me cringe, he never throws punches in combinations, he just jabs and then throws an occasional right hand. I hate watching him fight.
Dont watch him then. Simple.
I for one do think that there should be more vigorous testing in the sport,
To be honest I didn't even realize how l lean boxing commission where on this matter until Floyd has brought it up!
I like the idea of not just vigorous blood testing but all round testing and major penalties handed out e.g. Anthonio Margartio should of got a least a two year ban or Even suspended from the sport......
He is lucky he didn't get locked up and got off lightly in my opinion!
While I may not entirely agree with Mayweather’s motives for demanding the USADA protocol in his negotiations with Manny Pacquiao, he and Shane Mosley have both agreed to the same stringent request. In fact, by putting the heat on Pacquiao, Floyd may have inadvertently (or intentionally) just done boxing the biggest favor in recent years.
By instating this vigorous testing protocol for a match-up which will be heavily promoted, publicized, and viewed, he will put his new regime center-stage for the world to judge. And who doesn’t support clean boxing for all parties involved? Boxing is a dangerous sport; people can die inside the ring; boxers often starve themselves of nutrients in order to make weight; and nobody wants a juiced up opponent knocking the life out of his opponent.
If things go the way I think they are going to go (there are already rumors of the Boxing Commissions considering rule changes in their drug-testing protocols as early as this September), then Floyd Mayweather will have single-handedly transformed the landscape of boxing as we know it.
I think none the less whether this fight happens I do think Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Hate him or love him) deserves a lot of credit for exposing this weakness in the sport of boxing, in which we all love so much.
its good thing but Floys is not doing it for boxing. The only reason he made Mosley take the tests is because he demanded Manny do them. He couldnt go back on it, it would be too obvious. Floyd is helping himself, not boxing.
Honestly, this Saturdays heavyweight title fight was one of the biggest turn about in boxing history! Chambers was outboxing his man all night, showing ring generalship, making Klitschko fight his fight, and making him miss. Klitschko wasn't effective with his pressure and if it wasn't for the last second KO, I think we'd have a new champion!
8 rounds to 4, Eddie Chambers!
JIM!
Outboxing? He was running away, he didnt connect with anything meaningful at all, id give him 2 rounds to be honest.
Cotto is damaged goods.
DLH is shot, past prime, and was weight drained.
Clottey is a B-level fighter who has no offensive game.
SSM right now > Better than anyone who Manny fought.
Do you think that Mosley now is in a higher class (at the weight) than JMM was at 130? I dont know but i think they are on a par at least.
Ok so Pac's career is starting to wind down with possibly one more fight left in him or not. I think it's a nice time to appreciate some of his past wars/performances with a poll. So let's get to it! :439:
looks like i agree with the majority, i picked the Cotto one because of the fact that it was the welterweight title. Very close second for me is actually his loss to Morales, i just love that fight and anyone questioning Pac's heart i point towards that one.
Basically, I love watching boxing, but I don't think I watch enough as I have uni work and generally busy, but this is all about to change. My aim is to watch 1 fight a day for the foreseeable future. I'm doing this, just as I'll enjoy watching it, and it will also build up my own knowledge on the sport and fighters, so I can hopefully post on here a bit more.
So I'd like some recommendations of fights that involve recent boxers. Like newish fights from 2000 onwards or something. This is just because that's what people talk on here, and I'd like to debate on things, and then I'll move on to the classic fights. I'd like to watch some Mayweather fights, as I don't know that much about him so I'd like to see a proper technician fighting. Some other fighters I like watching are Pacquiao, Williams, Cotto, Margarito (before the plaster controversy) and Khan. But I'm open for all recommendations. :biggthump
So hopefully I'll actually get some, and then I'll get watching tomorrow! :boxing:
I watch a couple of fights a day if i can, rewatch them if a cant. Any Cotto fight from Ricardo Torres to now is great. Juanma's fights since the De Leon KO. Mayweathers fights against Castillo and against Judah. Pacquiao/Marquez 1 and 2.
I could go on and on, just pick any top 5 fighter and look backwards. There are soooooooo many great fights to find and watch.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: PAUL WILLIAMS
By mellow mood ;)
What do you think about Martinez getting a shot at Pavlik after you tried to make the fight two or three times? I wish him all the best of luck. It's a big fight and he needs to go and do his thing. I can't be mad, if it was me I would be happy for it. May the best man win.
MM: When can we expect to see you in the ring again and who are you going to fight?
PW: It's looking like it's going to be Kermit Cintron on May 8.
MM: What weight are you going to be fighting at, you fought your last two fights at middleweight? Can you still make 147 pounds easily?
PW: If they sign a contract for 147, I can make 147. This fight right here is going to be 154.
MM: If you get past Cintron, who do you want to get in the ring with you or better yet who do you think would be willing to get in the ring with you?
PW: It ain't no if. If it was an fifth, we would be drunk out here. I look at it like, when I get past Cintron, that ain't me being angry or cocky. That's just my confidence level and when I get past Cintron, hopefully we can get one of the big name fighters in there. Maybe the winner of Mayweather/Mosely, Pacquiao or anybody. I just call out names. It's up to my manager, Al, and Dan. I don't think I deserve to fight anyone under my level or somebody up and coming. I done proved myself. You can ask anybody who they want to see fight and they say they want to see Paul fight Mayweather. They want to see Paul fight Pacquiao. They want to see Williams fight Mosely. My name is in the mix.
Good luck getting either 3 guys Paul. You are too much for any of them and they wont fight you. Pavlik/Martinez winner i say, unless Pavlik wins, haha.
post up some delayed reaction ko's, just to show these guys that it happens in boxing
Those guys were not KO'd! Hurt bad yes but KO'd? No. I have been on the sideline as a medico at too many rugby games to mention and i have seen a lot of guys get ko'd and hurt bad to the head. Maybe its different in boxing but every single time i can think of a guy being confused like Dirrell was he recalled a period of blackout. These blackouts usually occur when someone is not just hurt to the head but the impact shakes the brain, neck and spine which causes the nausea and confusion. These blackouts are typically between 2 and 5 minutes. Short periods of unconsciousness (between 1 sec and 1 min) are caused by impact and i believe thats what happened to Dirrell. He got hit and his world decended a little bit, the clouds came in i like to say but he was not knocked unconscious and the way he was behaving was untypical and odd to me.
ali never gets mentioned much man that guy was rarley wobbled bad and when he did go down always got up no prob ,holyfield due to his size in his division took some mighty wallops the bowe uppercut springs to mind would killed most guys, then u,v got mercer mcCall ,de la hoya loads more thats just some i have chosen
Mercer and McCall? come on i have seen both guys KTFO. I agree with Holyfield though.
Can i throw in Rocky Marciano, David Tua and Friday Ahunanya. None of which have been knocked down legally. (Tua'a been down once at the end of the Rahman 2 after the bell)
Either Klitschko beats any HW from any era.
Ooo, thats a big call man. I say they would/would of had a chance against anyone but i think of a heavyweight like Jack Dempsey, George Foreman(young) ,Joe Louis or Rocky Marciano and i then think Klitschko KO.
I see some are saying "Oh wow, Wlad looks so much bigger than Chambers, he's gonna destroy him." Well, boys and girls, boxing doesn't work like that. I will post why the title will be true.
Speed - Eddie will have the fastest hand and reflexes Wlad has ever seen. Chambers fast hands will give Klitschko the most problems and make him tentative to throw. Don't expect Wlad to start fast.
Defense - Eddie will be the best defensive fighter Wlad has ever faced.
Strength - Eddie will be the strongest fighter Wlad has faced since Peter. Most of y'all are gonna be like "What? This guy doesn't know shit". But honestly, when was the last time one of you watched and analyzed each of their fights against Peter? Did you compare Wlad and Eddie's strength? Did you see how Peter would toss Wlad with every shot he landed? Did you see the same with Chambers?
Eddie was also stronger than the former D1 football player (Rossy), Brock, Dimitrenko, and was even pushing back Povetkin in the late rounds after taking tons of body shots. How many fighters would be able to pick up a fighter leaning on them that outweighs them by 40-50 pounds.
Style - Eddie carries a high guard that will help him peel off Wlad when he goes to hold. If Wlad starts pawing with his left hand to stop Eddie from coming in, he will catch a left hook to his glove that will make him not want to do it for a while. Styles make fights, this will not be the type of pawing match Wlad has with every southpaw he faces (Byrd, Ibragimov, Chagaev). I'm not even gonna go into how much Eddie's jab, body work, lateral movement, and pressure will bother Wlad.
Eddie will do things Wlad has seldom seen before in the pro ranks at a high level. Chambers will win, if he "loses" it'll look a lot like Cotto-Clottey. Yes, whether Chambers wins will depend on how much he moves his hands because he's gonna have to clearly win 8-9 rounds to come away with a decision.
A combination of overestimating Wlad and underestimating Chambers is going on here, Eddie will have to either knock it'll be fun watching my prediction come true tomorrow. Bump this after the fight.
you ****ed up.
Actually, if you do as I asked you'd see that Eddie starts to turn his head to the left a bit before Wlad's glove gets close. His head snaps back because his OWN glove (his left one) hits him in the face as a result of Wlad hitting his left glove. It's a richochet effect of sorts. That punch comes nowhere near Eddie's right temple. If you go to the 4:24 mark, you can see that Eddie's right temple is many inches away from the course that Wlad's left hook traveled.
Yeah i actually see what you mean, i never said it hit his temple but the way his head twists even if the punch didnt actually touch his face it was enough to KO him., That is for sure, you cant argue with the fact he was on the ground face first, ****ed.
Haye by ko Tua is a rubbish boxer against elites, and who knows if he even has12 round stamina at 38 after years of abusing his body
Tua is a devout christian and hasn't even remotely abused his body. He is in the best shape of his entire career, right now.
i agree (of course) but for good reason. Lennox Lewis absolutly schooled Tua in their matchup. If Haye could box 12 like Lewis (i dont think he can) and not get sucked into trying to hurt Tua (you cant Samoans in the head, you cant) he can do it. Also now, Tua is much wiser than he was before, ive seen plenty of interviews (and even shook his hand good luck) i know he has a much smarter head now. I'd have Tua KO in the 10th or so.
I've seen the replay from different angles now dozens of times and Wlad's left hook does NOT land. I am not some kind of hater and I don't have an agenda. That punch did not land. When Wlad is throwing the punch, Eddie's guard comes up while he is simultaneously moving back and his head is going back and to the left a bit. The punch never landed folks. The punch hit the inside of Eddie's left glove and Eddie's glove richocheted into his face which caused his head to snap back and that made it look like it was a clean punch. Watch the replays from the different angles as many times as it takes to see what really happened.
Why does his head turn at the moment of impact? If you look and look and look you'll see what you want to see mate. Im sure if it didnt land Chambers would not have gone down like that.
I agree totally with Wlad. Haye has bitched out twice and has done a great job of propping himself up on a little stool so people can see him. Unless he signs a fight with either Klit, he shouldnt talk up wanting to fight them.
