than the other way around. Great interview with Freddie Roach.
yeah , he's right but i still personally dont like MMA as much because of the ground stuff. I just like a science in boxing more than MMA. The MMA guys have to be way more skilled in more areas to suceed and even then there is always a style that will beat another meaning not many guys are undefeated. That makes it more exciting from a matchup standpoint but i still like boxing more, its got history that MMA will never achieve.
MMA imo has kind of hit its peak. I don't see it getting bigger than what it is. This may be me hating but whenever I see their ppvs numbers it seems to be around 400,000 unless a major guy is fighting(gsp, silva). It seems like thats there fan base and it really hasn't picked up much momentum. Also, boxing is cheap to partake in and will always be the worlds sport. It's like soccer v football. Soccer will always be number 1 due to the fact it is cheap as hell.
i agree. my friends and i used to get really hyped for some fights, and now it seems like the hype is over and only hardcore fans are still talking about it. i love both sports, and i am a bigger fan of boxing. i like to see good fights and right now i feel the UFC is in limbo and stikeforce and other companies are trying hard to compete for numbers. i still like to debate about mma vs boxing because it keeps both sports in my interest, but some fans take it too far (like saying boxing will not exsist in the future). i dont share the same attitue towards mma, so i never understood the hatred there. still, boxing has some really good match-ups this year, as well as mma, and im sure ill pay to watch both. for the record, i think it's harder for someone training in mma to switch to boxing, than the other way around, but i've been in the gym with guys training for mma, and the workouts are no jokes. much respect to anyone training to fight.
I love boxing the most though. And when I found I started doing it, my love for watching it grew even more.
I was doing "MMA" when it was called "NHB" and before all the douchey fanboys began to love "UFC".
Unified UFC American rules suck dog shit.
WOW dude! You're so hardcore!!!111 :lol1:
two plus years later here we are with pacman, mayweather and company
Mayweather has been the P4P king for years now He's not a new star... And Pacman is already talking about retirement.
w
look at all the top fighters in the UFC, most of them are just good/great wrestlers. theres nobody that is great at everything
You're wrong. Anderson Silva is not a wrestler, neither is Fedor, BJ Penn, Machida, etc..
well then. i started as boxing then muay thai and now training a bit off mma.

I'm not stereotyping. That's the crowd and fanbase the UFC actively targets in their marketing and advertisements. It's the crowd they want.
I love how you think you know anything about "MMA" then make a statement that you have to be "great" at everything. No. You really don't.
There are no great strikers in UFC. Honestly. Just deal with that. And I mean Kickboxing too. It's pretty much top to bottom a ****ing joke.
The ufc does lean more heavily towards grappling. Strikeforce has some great strikers. Cung Le is excellent at kickboxing, as is Marvin Manhoeff. Nick Diaz with his slapping rangefinder jab is probably the closest thing to a decent boxer in mma.
"proper physical attributes" such as?
attributes like "conditioning, handspeed, or the proper style to suit their body type"
What alot of people dont realize is that there really is no such thing as an "mma fighter" every mma fighter is or has transitioned from another sport altogether.
There are boxers who transition into mma and find success. there are some that dont. (andre berto's brother edson is a good example)
There are olympic wrestlers and jiu-jitsu world champions who have already spent their lives conditioning their bodies to bear the workload to optimize their bodies for optimal performance in their sport/art. To expect them to transition into boxing would be like expecting a world champion to qualify for the olympic wrestling team. Just doesnt work that way.
Way to stereotype.

Casual fans know who Sean Shark is/was. C'mon now.
Fail. No they don't. That's a joke. I know TONS of casual UFC fans. Couldn't name Sean Sherk if I payed them.
It doesn't have to be good nowadays, it has to be great. Great striking, wrestling, jujitsu. Yeah, that's only it. :lol1: Like I said, Griffin became champ years ago due to a robbery.
what do you mean robbery? he controlled the fight and beat rampage that day

If MMA is dead in Japan, then how come they can still pull in crowds of 20,000 at MMA events?
The only good ratings they get is when they have a show after boxing, doesn't matter how many people are in the arena. From what we know they give the tickets away, do you have any information on how many people actually pay for the events? You can't deny that MMA has gone hill after pride went away, btw Pride was the king of MMA. I was a huge fan and I still watch dream.
MMA and Boxing are two different sports, people need to realise that and carry on. They have two different backrounds but the BIG difference is Boxing has been around for over 100 years while MMA has only found a big following for about 5 years. Pride was huge in Japan but MMA has died over there as for Boxing they just had probably the biggest fight in history with Kameda/Naito which got I think 50% of Japan tuning in for the fight. MMA UFC mostly has gotten a nice following with young white males in the US but that's only been going on for about 5 years, we don't really know if it has longevity.
Boxing is garanteed to be around forever but you can't say the same for MMA, young people usually tend to get bored with something and move on just it's happend with skateboarding and poker in the last few years. Nobody can say that MMA will be here in 10 as it's about $130 a month to join a gym monthly while boxing still have a lot of free gyms especially around the world.
Another thing I would say boxing is doing much better right now then lets say 3 years ago, It's attracting a much younger audience with Manny and Mayweather. People used to say that Boxing only had one star with DLH but guess what? Now we have two huge stars with Pac and Mayweather.

This is the same crap that was said when Tyson retired. When Oscar retired. Etc. etc. Borrrring. I don't know who will take over. Someone will. Just remember Floyd used to be a draw.
MOST UFC fans are Pro wrestling fans who jumped on the fad. Most are retarded trailer trash who don't know shit about fighting.
Way to stereotype.
