Fight Recommendations

Basically, I love watching boxing, but I don't think I watch enough as I have uni work and generally busy, but this is all about to change. My aim is to watch 1 fight a day for the foreseeable future. I'm doing this, just as I'll enjoy watching it, and it will also build up my own knowledge on the sport and fighters, so I can hopefully post on here a bit more. So I'd like some recommendations of fights that involve recent boxers. Like newish fights from 2000 onwards or something. This is just because that's what people talk on here, and I'd like to debate on things, and then I'll move on to the classic fights. I'd like to watch some Mayweather fights, as I don't know that much about him so I'd like to see a proper technician fighting. Some other fighters I like watching are Pacquiao, Williams, Cotto, Margarito (before the plaster controversy) and Khan. But I'm open for all recommendations. :biggthump So hopefully I'll actually get some, and then I'll get watching tomorrow! :boxing: I watch a couple of fights a day if i can, rewatch them if a cant. Any Cotto fight from Ricardo Torres to now is great. Juanma's fights since the De Leon KO. Mayweathers fights against Castillo and against Judah. Pacquiao/Marquez 1 and 2. I could go on and on, just pick any top 5 fighter and look backwards. There are soooooooo many great fights to find and watch.

Yeah, I know what you mean. That's all I want to do really, build up my boxing IQ, so that's why I want to watch a range of boxers. And I try not to get intimidated by their knowledge, and I have learned a lot off some people, even if a lot of them like to troll and I already have some favourite posters. :lol1: And also, thanks for all the recommendations everybody, I've got a massive list to start wading through, which I will start tomorrow I think. I know you said from 2000 and onward but there are so many fights before this that could build your foundation to a boxing IQ. If you are looking for just sweet science attributes (as in hit and not get hit) look at early fights from: 1) Pernell Whitaker 2) Sugar Ray Leonard 3) Ali 4) Meldrick Taylor 5) James Toney Just to name a few off the top of my head. Then start looking at fighters who were offensive to their opponents and made brutal impressions such as: 1) Tommy Hearns 2) Terry Norris 3) Felix “Tito” Trinidad 4) Tyson 5) Tua 6) Gerald McClellan 7) Joe Frazier Again, just naming a few off the top of my head from a long list of other offensive fighters. After looking at the contrasting fighting styles you can develop an understanding to the differences in approach and to how each of these fighters handle adversity when pressed. After this see how the styles mesh when they are pitted against one another, you know, the whole “styles make fights” bid. And then you’ll start to see the true craft of boxing. Your best bet is to go to Youtube and just start browsing these fighters, then start downloading their actual fights. Note: Notice I didn’t put “you should watch this fighter Vs this one” Only because I think you should know who the fighters are first before going neck deep in to who fought whom and so forth. You have to understand, most of the posters on this site (and I’m careful with my words) are experienced ones who already been following the sport for years. So don’t get intimidated by their knowledge just learn from them even if half of them are knuckle heads. Hope this helps. Yeah, I know what you mean.
