I was reading some of the older posts from years back without realizing they were old and kept thinking, "Jeez people have this much confidence in Guerrero?"
Then I looked at the date and understood why.
Fast forward..
I got Garcia by TKO. I get the notion that Guerrero is gonna do what he always has done and pressure pressure pressure. Garcia doesn't really fight on the inside that well and Guerrero will for sure be looking to take advantage of that. I expect a lot of clinching or head-to-head contact in the earlier rounds.
Plus Garcia and Guerrero are both pretty small Welterweights. Heck I might even give the size advantage to Garcia.
If not a TKO, an easy decision against a beaten Guerrero.
It's not bad.
People are over exaggerating about the matchmaking.
Canelo just fought a guy coming from a year layoff, while GGG just fought an ESPN fighter. Let's not forget the champion Nicholas Walters missed weight for his fight a few weeks ago.
Some people have been fed HBO's product for so long that any other change is automatically a bad thing. Let PBC do things their way.
Plus, being an Al Haymon owned brand probably shined a negative light on it before it even premiered. Because anything Al Haymon = bad to most boxing fans.
Gonna have to take Floyd by UD in this one.
As much as I like GGG, he is a little flat footed at times. We all know Mayweather shines the brightest against guys that are flat footed. Floyd continues to pivot and move around them in a way that basically takes away their offense.
It happened with Maidana, and it happened with Canelo. Both guys were known for their power and also lacking movement. Mayweather used a lot of movement and check hooks to essentially "tame the bull" into hesitation. Once hesistant and frustrated, Mayweather takes control by putting together combos in the middle of ring.
GGG would definately have his moments by using his power to push Mayweather against the ropes and work him with body shots and by cutting off the ring, but May is also pretty good at fighting off the ropes and getting in pot shots. But that's just my take.
Golovkin KO 1-3..
Come on, get serious!!
Floyd will never go through with a Pacquiao fight..
AS IF he would even fight Golovkin let alone be able to survive one, let alone win one.
Floyd will not even be able to fight ANY "A" grade fighter again. He is completely shot now.
Bumming the rest of his way to 50-0.. Pathetic!
I'm gonna assume you were one of the people that thought Canelo was going KO Floyd.
Yeah it's just a token gesture now, i mean i'll still watch but it's not the same as 4 years ago. Both these guys just decided to fight each other because they were too scared to fight Khan, they have a better chance of beating each other than Khan so they took the fight now and ducked Khan again. But boxing fans aren't the sharpest tools in the box so many of them will jump all over the fight like it means something when all it really means is that Khan continues to get ducked by fighters too scared to face him.
Because a win over Devon Alexander really got the whole division shook huh.
Got my tickets already.. Its my first fight Im going to and Im super hyped. Im a big fan of Porter, and Berto and Lopez have been known to bring it.
The good seats arent too expensive, and the arena is literally like 10 minutes away from my house. Hopefully we get fireworks.
Yeah. Im sure Mike raped and floyd beat women so that they'll stay in character.:blackeye:
People put on masks when the cameras come on because images sell pretty well in America. Even if the guy didnt tell him to do the praying thingy.. More likely then not, Pac knows its important for his image to come off as humble and religious.
Floyd does the same thing with his smack talking, money flashing. Just like how Mike did with his scary/intimidating character. Im sure when you talk to them one on one, theyre all pretty chill guys. Except Tyson, that dude seems to pop off when people least expect it. Lol
Nobody is perfect, and were all human. don't pretend like Pacquiao is above it all.
I have noticed that, OP.
Danny Garcia does the same thing. He's essentially 80% plus Spanish-European background, but you'd think he was African-American the way he postures and emulates.
It sounds extremely corny, and is laughable.
It's a Puerto Rican, Philly thing. Philly got a lot of blacks and hispanics mixed up, and the culture rubs off on the people so you got a lot of Ricans dressing "black" or whatever. It's just how the environment is. If you go to Oakland you see the same thing but with Mexicans.
Both guys are from the same area and same ethnicity.. So it make sense for them to have similarities.
Come on man. The guy used to get beat on by practically every big name at the time. Give him some credit. Lol
All jokes aside, He was entertaining as hell and seemed liked a pretty good dude.
Idk if this is a troll post or not but I'll respond.
I know this is probably common sense and you know this.. But the truth is if you wanna make the money and go past being a journeyman you gotta have the talent. If you have the talent and start racking up wins, the contract offers and management deals come with it. Unless someone vouches for you(Mayweather) you gotta take it upon yourself to really get your name out there.
The sad truth is that the majority of professional boxers will never make any serious money from boxing. But just keep winning, remain professional, and take on whoever they throw infront of you and everything else will fall into place I promise.
Forgot to add that if you aren't just trolling and you're serious about getting signed with Haymon, try contacting the Watson twins; Marcus or Brandon Watson. Their dad, Sam Watson is a business partner-associate of Al Haymon and he is usually the direct line of communication between him and Haymon's fighters. Obviously since your cousin is just starting out they won't take you too seriously. But just build some rapport with anybody from that team and see if they can work with you. At the very least they'll keep tabs on you.
Lol, posters on here I swear have some kind of agenda. Trying to make everything into a race thing when really rosado has become a bit of a dick lately. He used to be pretty chill but lately he seems to have gotten too big for his boots.
Rosado's a really chill dude. I've met him in person and he was always taking pictures with fans and talking to people. I could tell the chick that was with him while all this was going on was enjoying the attention too LOL.
But he can definitely turn it on for the cameras a bit. He's just trying to hype up his fights I guess... I mean you kinda have to when you're on a losing streak
Still a big fan of him though
Thurman by UD.
Unless he exchanges with Garcia(which Thurman proved he doesn't always need to do)
I feel like Thurman just has a more well rounded game while Garcia is so reliant on standing in the pocket with people.
Yes definitely.
The most common trait that big punchers have is being flat footed. By being flat footed, they can really sit on their punches and throw hard shots. They trade mobility for power(GGG, Provodnikov, Maidana) whilst pure boxers trade power for mobility.(Ward, Bradley, Lara,) theres no wrong style, just different styles.
In terms of hype I guess would Ali-Frazier or Ali-Foreman. Maybe even Hagler-Leonard or Leonard/Duran. *Edit* woops. Didn't realize my answer was identical to the poll. Lol.. I'd take Ali/Foreman. Ali had all of Zaire behind him.
Plus, Julio Cesar Chavez vs Greg Haugen did like 100k + of spectators. So I guess that could be considered "big" too
Yea but the problem with GGG and Thurman is that there great BOXERS with serious power in both has ...if that can't get rid of you ,your ganna take a cruel boxing lesson yourself
True that. Both guys can be technical if need be and can counter too.
I believe GGGs amateur/professional experience is what has taken him this far. But having power helps too.. Lol
Let's be honest now. You would be thrilled out of your mind to the point where you would be creaming in your pants if Mayweather Sr were as vocal as Freddie Roach. You would be calling it "publicity" and "hype".
You know this is true.
The reality is... Floyd Sr is quiet because he flapped his gums non stop when he trained Hatton and we all know what happened to Hatton. It's what happens to people when they get humbled. It's human nature.
Now, if Manny loses, then Roach will deserve any and all the trash talk he receives from Sr after the fight. But for now, let's just acknowledge and admit that Sr is quiet because he got humbled in his last major fight.
The dude literally evacuated the MGM Grand after Hatton got KO'd. You can't blame Sr for running out of the arena considering all the trash he talked before the fight.
I'm not really sure what your point is. So Sr. isn't talking smack because one of his ex-fighters got KO'd years ago? Wasn't he only with Hatton for that one fight? That's too far fetched in my opinion.. I mean come on dude you really believe that? Freddie is just trying to hype the fight.
Sr. has been talking smack and really isn't that silent. But lets be honest, you practically need subtitles to understand the guy and its painful to try to watch an interview with him. Lmao
Not that I know anything behind closed doors, but whenever Floyd fights or trains with his dad, he kinda seems to shrug off his dad and let Roger tell him whatever it is. Kinda leads me to believe Floyd Sr. plays little to no role within his son's team and really makes anything Sr. says seem pretty irrelevant.
Only thing I really have a problem with Spike is that on the West Coast.. Their "live" broadcast isn't really live.
Now if they were upfront about it being recorded that's fine. But the whole week they were exaggerating that it was gonna be live and whatnot. Over here in California, it showed around 9 to 11 I think.
It isn't just a PBC thing either,It happens with Bellator too. For Spike to be so big on combat sports, shouldnt having actual live events be a priority for them?
Boxed for about a year, wanted to go to the amateurs but at the time I had just graduated highschool and needed to start working and going to school so I figured I would have been too busy. Looking back at it now I probably should have said F it and done it anyways.
Even now a few years later, I still think about going back because I understand the sport way better than I did back then.
I'm nowhere near the shape I was in back then though. Lol
He didn't own him.. but he did check him for trying to bring up Pacquiao when that interview was during the build up for the Berto fight.
Mayweather was obviously there to promote and put the light on the Berto fight, NOT talk about Pacquiao. Osuna tried to get him to do the latter, and Floyd called him on it.
At 154, Floyd jab/clinches his way to a boring, easy decision. Then afterwards people will cry about how GGG was drained, or was all hype. Thus Floyd getting no credit. Same routine as always.
And then it will be on to the next guy that supposably can beat Floyd.
At 160 I got GGG.. But I don't think for one second Floyd would ever fight GGG at 160
At 154? Floyd outboxes him.. GGG is accurate and powerful, but he is slow and flatfooted. The only punch I see GGG landing on Floyd is the jab.
GGG would back up Floyd on the ropes with his jab, and as soon as he does.. He gets uppercutted or check-hooked and Floyd either pivots out or clinches off the ropes.
At 160 it's a different story.
People brag about Broner's loss because he worked his image similar to that of Mayweather's(Undefeated, Flashy, Money first)
So naturally when he lost, people used it as a sort of "In your face" moment. He can and will definately bounce back, and he doesn't need to do anything but keep being himself.
Broner is still entertaining regardless of a loss and hardly takes away from his luster.
Verry good assesment, and breakdown. So how do you think that this issue of ducking could be fixed? (if its even possible at this point)
Unless boxing turns into a umbrella-esque type sport, I really don't see it stopping. Where there is profit to be made, there will be someone there to collect.
Unlike the UFC, competing promoters such as Golden Boy and Top Rank will block fights, and put up yellow-tape between fighters to not help their rival's agenda. It is like any other business. Managers and promoters know that the majority of fighters do not understand things from a business point of view. This is when a manager comes in and says, "Hey, sign with me, I'll make you into a superstar. You'll owe me a % of your purse, but I'll make you the most money you ever dreamed of.
As far as fighters themselves, I've seen people talk about how when Mayweather leaves the sport, it will go back to "normal" or will be "better". The truth is, as soon as Mayweather steps down, another just like him will step up. During the 60s, Ali was viewed as a loudmouth who was unbeatable until Joe Frazier knocked him off. The 70s had Leonard. The 80s was Tyson. The 90s was Roy Jones. Now it is Mayweather. All these guys(with the exception of maybe Leonard) were known for being pretty c0cky and had their own images for promoters to build off of. There will be another fighter, and another promoter ready to make him the next big name.
