PBC was a lot better on Spike TV, The commentators were very lively, and the atmosphere was better. Dana Jacobson did her homework, great host, Smith who does Bellator MMA did his homework as well, had good chemistry with Antonio Tarver, I enjoyed the production.
NBC had way too much lulls, they needed fresh and younger guys like Spike TV, why did they put old 77 year old Marv Albert and 80 something year old Al Michaels?
when UFC left Spike TV their ratings and appeal dropped, Spike TV is very good when it comes to fight production shows.
I liked it.
Weird, I actually enjoyed NBC more. It had a bigger, classier feel to it. Spike felt like it was WWE atmosphere with purchased fans forced to act excited and hyped.
I did enjoy the fights just not the presentation side of it.
i agree with my man golovkin because spike felt tooo much UFC or WWE and it is not in HD too. But the fights and commentating was better, but production sucked
Only thing I really have a problem with Spike is that on the West Coast.. Their "live" broadcast isn't really live.
Now if they were upfront about it being recorded that's fine. But the whole week they were exaggerating that it was gonna be live and whatnot. Over here in California, it showed around 9 to 11 I think.
It isn't just a PBC thing either,It happens with Bellator too. For Spike to be so big on combat sports, shouldnt having actual live events be a priority for them?
That's why I didn't bother watching it. If I cant watch it live, Im not going out of my way to watch it.

Tarver is still the best boxer-analyst.
HBO should be trying to snatch him up to get rid of that retard roy jones.
They wanted to, but tarver signed with haymon, so they just erupted jones jr contract. Hbo ken hershman wanted tarver
I kinda agree, man. Yes at the end of the day I'm there for the fights and not the production, but still, it had a MMA type atmosphere, or like Golovkin said even WWE-ish.
I'll probably get roasted for this but I still prefer my cards on good ole cable premium (HBO or Showtime). Tonight's Spike card, while somewhat weak, still could have been passable for a Showtime Championship boxing type of card. I mean they've done worse. It was just their first card though so maybe I'll warm up to it.
Agree just bcse it's new/different doesn't make it better I prefer the traditional way that's been done for decades now.
I will say I did enjoy when one of the commentators said went to the turf....
There was more crowd energy bcse it was a smaller show in a smaller venue with more of a fight crowd
Commentary was good, but there is something alien about the whole setup.
Thought it was weird when the commentators referred to Berto and Lopez as No.6 & No.7 in the division, and said that two top ten guys going at it is what you want to see.
That's just straight up bullshit. No way the Showtime or HBO teams would ever try to sell a line like that.
Best fight card of the year so far. Massively entertaining fights, great presentation. Tarver is a brilliant commentator, icing on the cake for Spike TV but all the commentators were seriously on point.
Ya it was great, Chris Hanson and tarver have good mic presence. I can see this working out well as long as the fight purses arent insane.
Why y'all care about what the fighters make? It ain't your money

I like the Spike event better, crowd was hype, commentators were fluid, maybe it's just me, but I like Tarver as a commentator. Really bummed when Showtime dropped him.
I doubt it does better numbers than the NBC card, but it's good to see lots of boxing on TV, especially when they're not competing against each other.
NBC primetime commands a different presentation than a primetime presentation of Sp1keTV. The presentation on Sp1ke was perfect for a boxing/combat sports audience, but if that has been the look of the NBC broadcast, I'm not so sure that the general sports fan, or just someone cruising through the channels, would've given the show a chance.
spike was way way way better.
1) it actually felt like i was watching a boxing card
2) the commentators actually knew what the **** they were talking about
3) broner-molina did not open this card.
I want antonio tarver on NBC. hes far superior to SRL, sorry. the dude actually provides insight and a different view on whats going on in the fight. even that dude from NFL network who was calling the fights was WAY better then old ass marv albert, he sounded like he hasnt seen boxing in 30 years
NBC was kinda slow, the production lagged a bit. I still don't understand why they would put old Marv Albert and Al Michaels to host, if their main demographic is a younger market? old people are not going to watch boxing or mma.
They should have promoted it toward the 18-49 crowd which was the main audience.
Spike did an excellent job, and the commentary team was great with good chemistry, fast, and didn't pause much, the play by play guy amazed me really good, probably one of the best I heard.
