I don't really like Al Haymon to be honest...but giving my honest opinion the pbc so far has been terrible...really the only fights I've enjoyed so far have been the berto fight and ghost vs thurman..I honestly find myself skipping threw the recorded broadcast to find out the outcome... The matchups have been bad, announcers have been awful I mean so far the pbc has been pure garbage. But I love the sport and being shown on NBC,cbs, espn and other platforms can only help it grow. So deep down inside I'm pulling for this to work. What can they do to fix it?
1. bad match making
2. blurring of lines between promotion, management and sanctioning
3. predatory and exclusionary business model
4. over-saturation
5. amateurish production and strange venue choices
6. u.s.-centricism
Name me one fight that you're looking forward to this year other than cotto Canelo which isn't even Pbc and please don't say Santa Cruz hypejob vs shot mares
Collazo-Thurman :boxing:
Biggest problem is production. The entrances are lame, the commentators are too bad except on Spike, and there have been too many errors with sound and video. They have a lot of work there.
Otherwise it's been okay. The fights are good, though they seem to place them in strange locations that don't draw crowds.
Yeah, I agree about the lame a.ss ring entrances. I think PBC actually picks the music for the fighters. For the Andy Lee-Pete Quillen fight, they had Lee coming out to some weak a.ss 70s f*ckin' disco music. It was like WTF is that? How are the fighter and fans supposed to get pumped up listening to f*ckin' Andy Lee coming out to the Donna Summer?
That said, let the fighters pick their own music
I'm still trying to figure out why people are crying about the matchmaking. I mean besides lucas Ruslan. And Kov pascal what great match ups did hbo put on? Apparently hearing lampreys voice is all these guys need to have a good time. THe fight in my sig was good too
I don't think the match-making for HBO or the PBC has been very good this year, but I think Haymon probably gets more blame for his match-making than HBO does in part because of what's gone on in the past (like SHO's 2014) and in part because he's the adviser, manager, and basically the promoter, for all the PBC fighters, and he has about $425 million from Waddell & Reed to work with.
Not that HBO doesn't deserve blame, both for some of the fights they have put on, and for some of the fights they've stood in the way of.
Garcia salka - haymon and Showtime- was worse than anything hbo has showcased
How? It was an exciting KO finish. Why/How is it different if the KO occurs on a network other than HBO?
But you just said it's cool for hbo as long as they get the ko doe lol. Again hbo isn't doing any better this year
Where did I say it's cool?
Quote me where I say that
No hes saying bigger mismatches is needed. Casuals want a KO they dont care about matchups.
Ahh, I get it now.
The hbo commentators are honest
And algeiri just almost beat the guy who's the frontrunner to fight floyd
SO? Floyd just beat the 1st guy to beat Algieiri so it seems right if he fights the 2nd guy that did it.
Competitive exciting fights is what casuals want
The matchmakers for haymon are too imcompetent to produce these

Needs to put together a fight between exciting fighters who want to win with a statement. Most of the fights have been sht as fuk, exception of Guerrero-Thurman, and maybe Garcia-Peterson, I say maybe because it was a piece of sht the first half.

Actually are being led to believe a guy like Kirkland has a chance against a canelo or a guy like Monroe or Algieiri have a "stylistic" chance to beat a GGG or a Manny, things we as diehards know isn't possible.
I'm tempted to make a Floyd/Manny joke, but you get my point.
I guess they are starved for another Tyson like fighter.

Difference between hbo and Pbc is hbo mismatches end In ko's
Pbc mismatches are boring
And hbo are showcasing the top guy in the division-ggg, kovalev, Canelo at 154,
No one cares about the frauds like Garcia- this guy already been beat and didn't give a rematch
Casual fans are becoming wiser

The presentation is regrettable it's essentially the same thing the UFC is doing w/the uniform ordeal trying to make it more corporate for the masses that quite frankly don't care/watch.
Haymon has always been a terrible matchmaker so it's basically the same as what he was doing before just on a more grandiose scale.
Some fights are good some aren't it's just how the sport is.
I watch a lot of fights and even I can't keep up w/ all the cards not sure how anyone with any semblance of a life could but that's the plan right over saturate get it more known.

This is no untrue...
No one watches boxing for the entrances

Oh, really? These aren't good matchups?
Porter-Broner
Lee-Quillen
Garcia-Peterson
Algieri-Khan
Broner-Molina
Dirrell-Degale
Barthelmy-DeMarco
