Because it just confuses me how little most of you on here know about the sport. How do you care so much about GGG, Ward etc if you have never even put on a pair of gloves before? like it just seems weird to me
Trained and sparred numerous top amateurs back in the day, never wanted to compete cuz I knew would never want to become a full time fighter, I know a thing or two about the technical aspects of boxing but I could never train full time to be in a sufficient physical shape to compete on a championship level.
The difference is theory will never beat experience when things dont go by the book , there is many tricks of the trade that cannot be learned in a book , and even if all the information was there to be had , the right questions must be asked , without experience teaching and leading one to those questions they are never even a thought only an empty space in the mind , the understanding gained from experience will sort out the ones that know from the ones that think they know .
Knowledge and understanding are two different things .
I understand this, but my point is still the same. No someone watching from the comfort of their home in a recliner won't know the subtleties of what it's like to be in the ring, but watching and appreciating the sport, is a different take but there's a wealth of information to be had from that point of view too. Hell, not everyone that that gets in the ring knows or understands it all. Look at Holyfield saying after the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight that Manny won, that's a guy that knows sh1t about boxing....
I have, from 11 to 18 years old. My dad & my uncles made me, hated it, but then I loved it. Guess I needed their approval.
Preferred making less money, and taking less pain.
College was easier than boxing.
I go to the local gym at least once a week, more if I feel angry at my boss & co workers.
Great release. Only fought 3 to 6 rounders, head gear etc.
Boxed for 3 years amateur from age 10 to 12. untill i broke my nose. Had surgery, also began playing football. Not alot of 5"10 inch 192 pound cruisers now are they. Did play a pretty mean running back and a season of football as a walk on olb at Jacksonville State . Got beat to death by 1st teamers. Love Boxing , but i also don't think you have to be a fighter to really know the game.

Lots of people that are knowledgeable about sports have never actually played or participated in the sport they're interested in. It's great when you can actually bring quantifiable experience into the equation but it isn't necessary, if it were there wouldn't be a lot of people on this site. There are ways to educate one's self about boxing without taking blows to the head. The issue as I see it, it that some people come to this site, emotionally invested in their fighters and refuse to see anything relevant or pertinent if it interferes with that image.
The knowledge is out there, but is the will to take it to heart out there too?

u have to box to care about the sport???since when?
and to answer ur question nah i only boxed in the streets, good times
I have to agree with you here..
Boxed for about a year, wanted to go to the amateurs but at the time I had just graduated highschool and needed to start working and going to school so I figured I would have been too busy. Looking back at it now I probably should have said F it and done it anyways.
Even now a few years later, I still think about going back because I understand the sport way better than I did back then.
I'm nowhere near the shape I was in back then though. Lol
7 years amateur in muay thai first and boxing then, now retired for shoulder and joints problems.
It's clear that many people here speak without have a fckuing clue about that. Lots of Bull$$$

I've practiced boxing and kickboxing for about 16 years. I don't think you have to train to be a fan but a person should have some type of experience in the sport before they pass judgment on fighters.
