He was going to get a big pay day to go to Vietnam?
But yeah he did the right thing, I agree there.
No, but he was stripped of his titles and suspended from competition during his prime years.
Froch's schedule has been amazing!
Pascal
Taylor
Dirrell
Kessler
Abraham
Johnson
Ward
and now Bute. That's 8 of the toughest competition someone can fight in a row.
I still want to see Pac vs. May, but if that falls through Cotto vs. May would be my first choice.
I think a lot of people want to see Canelo vs. Kirkland and so do I.
Between Chavez and Martinez, I'd rather see Cotto vs. Martinez.
So, my answer is Martinez.
nobody is questioning his heart, but so many people are doubting his chin after getting KOed by Ishida. That fight will forever be a part of his legacy.
go back and watch it by the frame, from every camera angle, and spend at least 10 minutes studying each pixel on each frame. then come back with your score please. i'd appreciate it.
he's a very talented guy but he does things that he shouldn't have to do considering all the talent he has.
1. underhook his opponent while pushing his head into their face.
2. tying up their arms if he can't place his head on their face.
3. holding to position his opponents head for punches.
Might just be me, but I see Berto as sort of a Jermaine Taylor type, who starts out fast, strong and aggressive but punches himself out and allows his opponents to take over later in the fight. One day, Berto will meet his Pavlik, Froch and Abraham.
Yeah, before the stoppage, I thought Berto was on a downhill slide. No defense from Berto at all and very inefficient punches.
Berto 89 out of 358 punches landed
Zaveck 109 out of 268 punches landed
Honestly, I didn't even think that headbutts were involved when I was watching live but those GIFs say otherwise.
Did anybody else think that Berto's defense was horrible? I don't know the numbers but it looked to me like Zaveck threw much less punches but landed just about as many.
Bute could've fought the best but it is not through a fault of his own.
The best in his weight class have been tied up for the last two years in that tournament.
Also, Kessler and Pavlik had made it clear that they don't want to fight Bute.
Bute has had the easiest fights out of them all.
Once he has taken out Dirrell, Ward, Froch, Kessler and maybe Pascal then he will get everything he deserves. Until then, he still has a lot to prove in my eyes and he can start doing that by fighting away from his comfort zone (Bell Centre in Canada) and fighting someone with a real pulse in a hostile crowd.
Agreed, it matters not what you are able to do, but rather what you have done. He can beat the best, but he hasn't.
The main reason he stays at Bell Centre is because that's where he can sell out a stadium without another huge name. He's getting to the point where he's got to take a big fight. He was close to getting Kessler and Pavlik and those two fell through.
Think about it. It's all business. Pacquiao doesn't need to fight in the Philippines because the whole country practically backs him. So why not go to the U.S. and continue building his name there?
If all he did was fight in the Philippines than all you guys would say is that he always wants home town advantage.
Asia is a continent by the way. Pacquiao is not big in Asia, he's big in the Philippines.
Cotto still has a few good years to turn things around. i don't understand why he gets so much hate around here. quality boxer.
as for the mayorga fight, mayorga is always hard to put away and miguel hardly ever finishes his opponents early so it went as i expected.
let's see. 8 division world champion. Fighter of the Decade. 3x Fighter of the year. Wins over Barrera, Morales, Marquez, de la Hoya, Cotto, Hatton, Mosley.
yeah, i agree.
so first flomos say that pac is on roids because there is no way he can jump up in weight and have so much power...
now, you guys are saying that his power is overrated because he can't KO the bigger guys?
he got ko'd by a much smaller and mediocre striker in mma with a weak jab. he won't get to ten fights without getting ko'd.

and who was that? because if your talking about james he wasn't with ann wolfe when he lost and spent two years in prison.
so many people act like spending a couple of years is no big deal and doesn't have a serious effect on the body. No sparring, no boxing, no nothing for 2 years. Then he gets a new trainer and they have him fight 2-3 times in a matter of weeks and he wasn't even at his fighting weight yet. It wasn't smart, imo.
true. doesn't mean he couldn't have picked up a concussion in one of the 3 fights he had in one month.
you do realize that Kimbo threw that fight.....from what ive heard. I heard he threw alot of money on him losing and lost and almost went to jail for it,
read the news
I had a pretty big hunch that you are a troll. This confirms it. Thanks for such an enjoyable conversation.
Do you want it on the undercard? If Kimbo goes on this undercard this could draw some mmGaY fans and show them what real fighting is about. Kimbo would be a nice addition, Im sure Gary Shaw and Floyd/Oscar can work something out :boxing:

you do realize that MMA fans hate Kimbo and are happy that he left MMA to pursue boxing instead right?
i am an mma fan also dumb ass. you do realize there are those cross over fans who like both sports not like your one dimensional ass
You must be this guy.

"That little dude with pink highlights in his hair just KTFO my daddy!"
I apologize. You must be one of the 1% of MMA fans who thought he was going to be the next UFC Champ.
seriously
if he's trying to pass that off as not going all out he's not only horrible boxer but a liar
this guy belongs in mma
he's behaving like a punk these days.
go get tattoos and pink hair and a straight brimmed hat and hang out with all the other punks
boxing is the most gentlemanly sport on the planet
no room for a thug like kirkland
I tend to agree on that. Except we have Mayorga and Charlie Zelenoff.
