How does Mayweather leverage golden boy to fight for 32M? Bob Arum gets Pacman down to 5-6M, what prevents Golden Boy from saying "floyd, we are going to pay you 5M, take it or leave it" like they did to Maidana's 1.5M?
pac gets 20-26M guarantee. the last jmm fight guarantee was 26M.
No way, check the fight purse for the bradley fight, it was 5-6, even floyd said in "all access" that Pac was a 6 million dollar fighter when he was heckled.
When he yells instructions from the ringside seats when oscar or shane are fighting. First of all its really difficult for a fighter to concentrate and listen to their trainer at the same time when they are fighting..let alone BHOP. Watch him do that at floyd-shane as well.
BHOP is the smartest fighter in the game by far. He was screaming @ OSCAR to throw the jab v. MONEY. He was the one telling MOSLEY to hit the body v Margarito. The fact he loves boxing is fine with me.
floyd only fights good moving forward when he has a guy hurt, he doesn't even come forward when he has a guy outclassed.
i've always said from the get go, that someone needs to make floyd lead, make him come forward and commit body weight to his lead punches. it's something no one has done, all fighters do is try and press the action. the only time fighters drop back from floyd is when he has had them hurt or they're gassed.
if a fighter were to drop back like floyd does, there would be no fight because floyd will not and has not led and set the pace of any of his fights. he lets his opponents do the work and he uses his talent to capitalize, now he's going to try and do it to a mosley who is aged and older, to where floyd no feels safe enough to step into the ring with him.
bottom line is if floyds opponents didn't come forward, it would make floyd look bad. imagine if there were two fighters in the ring both using floyds forever fight plan, boxing would be years gone dead........
and that is what i propose a fighter do, make floyd come forward and blame the inactivity on floyd, stating that counter punching is your game plan. if a fighter were to do that, then i think that would expose floyd a bit and definitely prove that he's a boring fighter and it's his opponents who make the fight with him, not floyd taking the fight to his opponent. floyd never takes the fight to his opponents, never............
Right on bro, knock these CLOWNS on their ass. I've been sayin this for awhile.
I just stopped reading after the first weakness.... flat footed? lmao lmao... Floyd Mayweather is flat footed? you deserved to be slapped... it's time to bring it back
" YOU SIR... DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BOXING"
"don't know shit about boxing"... letting idiots know they dont know shit est. 2010
Nazim said he's flat footed, you're saying he's an idiot to?
Hopkins is getting the first 3.5 million and RJJ is suppose to get the next 3.5 million. He might not even get paid.
Really, what kinda agreement is that? Crazy. ROY's pay was contingent on other factors?
Boxing is HARD
Not to brag but I'm 5x senior state wrestling champion, I even wrestled MMA champion Jens Pulver, and a few others, but he was the biggest name.
I go into the local club to box, and as a lifelong wrestler, boxing is way harder than it looks. The cardio is incredible. I did three rounds sparring and it is so tiring, even more than wrestling.
I could go three rounds MMA no problem. Boxing a simple 4 rounder, NO WAY.
Boxing is way harder. Ask Jens Pulver. He did both at the pro level and He will tell you that Boxing is harder. Until you spar a good boxer you have no idea how difficult it is.
A guy like Bernard Hopkins is light years ahead of anybody in MMA.
MORE WAYS TO LOSE IN MMA.
Bigger gap in how you can lose in MMA than boxing.
Best in Boxing, and you are the best at hand-striking.
Best in MMA and what do you really have? Someone that may be great at striking but lacks the ability to be great in submission. And vice-versa. That one HUGE disadvantage puts you at greater risk to lose.
Why do MMA fighters have that disadvantage? Because there is only so much time to train...training in a sport that requires you to know more than hand-strikes.
Does anybody understand this thread?
Your thread was MMA was harder. You said because there was more ways to lose. Your wrong. Boxing is harder for many reasons. In MMA there is no standing 8 counts, or ten counts, or Knock Downs. MMA has NO defense, if the DEFENSE is not to get "into it" it is not a defense. MMA is not a sport it is a fight. There is no strategy in MMA, it's all tactical.
If anything MMA is way easier because you don't master defense or counter offense like you need in Boxing. So you could say for starters that Boxing is 3x harder right off the bat.
I agree
I agree. Most of the training is sparring. DLH had problems with Pac because nobody he brang in could fight like Pac. Hatton will have the same problem. Roach said it took Pac two weeks to adjust to the left jab hook that DLH had. That is why good sparring is so important.
Go heavy
I would like to seem him get justice w/ Calslappy. The Welsh fighter who clearly lost, but he knows the 44 year old will beat him. So Bernard should go up and fight heavy, I think he will do pretty good up there. Could fight until he's fifty.
Boxing is superior
The UFC is about the UFC promotion. Boxing is about the fighters. People come to see the boxers, the UFC the fans come to see a show.
sweet science
This one guy was at my house and said
"calling boxing the 'sweet science' was 'dumb'" he didn't know anything about boxing and thought it was two idiots throwing wild.
I said "your just ignorant" He got really mad and said "i was in la la land" meaning crazy or something. I thought being personal or whatever was really low and I wanted to punch him out.
B-HOP wins
I love Pavlik. I was looking forward to him building up his career and being a superstar. Great kid, humble, comes to fight. It's sad there gonna put him in there with X.
X easily beat Tarver, who is bigger, stonger, and better than Pavlik. X is technically way better than Pavlik. He'll beat him EASY.
1. Primarily with footwork. X has elite footwork. Pavlik is below average here. He only fights one way, FORWARD. X will use movement to beat Pavlik. Power punchers need a target. Taylor was a target and so was Miranda, both power punchers w/ no footwork.
2. Defense. Pavlik will not land anything clean the whole night. X has the best Defense in all of boxing.
3. Counters. X will counter Pavliks right had with left hooks to the body and head.
4. Jab. X will take away Pavliks jab first. Lets see what kind of fighter Pavlik is without his jab.
5. Lead Right. X will start landing his lead right.
6. If he can get Pavlik to back up, he will stop him.
Pavlik does have workrate, but nothing is going to land clean. Since there are no future stars besides Pavlik coming up they might steal this from BHOP on workrate alone. Calslappy didn't land anything and the biased commentators gave him credit on punches that didn't land.
Can someone that is for Pavlik give 'technical' reasons that Pavlik will win? For pure boxing skills this is a complete mismatch.
You're confusing footwork with closing the distance and jumping in-and-out. Pac can close the distance well. He does not have better footwork than Floyd. How long have you been watching boxing??? Floyd is always in position to counter, attack, or use lateral movement.
Positioning is part of footwork. You are confused. Floyd fights flatfooted and backs up with his hands down. Does not move forward well at all. He does not has better footwork than PAC.
Does not move forward well at all?? So that's why he's able to move in, attack or counter, and then slip under an opponents punch and end up behind him? Please enlighten me.
May does not move in. He ran vs. Baldimor, He backed up vs. DLH and Hatton. He almost always backs up.
Vs. Zab he came forward with the earmuffs on, behind a peek a boo defense and looks tight and terrible. PAC will be very effective if he does that against him.
explain to me why he is a cash cow to HBO?
the few fights he has had on HBO have been lowly rated including his matchup with Kessler which if I am not mistaken was the lowest rated WCB of 2007
Joe didnt bring the masses like the way Hatton did at best maybe 5000 fans. This was his first major fight in the US and they didnt come. They had to paper most of the arena, they gave away tons of tickets through radio stations (one radio station had 12 of the $1500 seats to give away), and GGP had to give back about 2 million of their site fee for the poor showing.
Hopkins, while waning in the public interest, still drew enough for his last PPV (Winky at 400K) to say he is more known in the US than Calzaghe. He also has history with Jones having met early in their careers and had a proposed rematch on the table (60/40 I tax dat ass!)
I don't see the HBO angle at all
HBO show fights first on non-ppv to build fighters name recognition to have marketable PPVs. Jermaine Taylor, Mayweather, any fighter they think can be future PPV fighters they will build up. Remember they HBO did JC v Kessler and JC vs. BHOP free. With 50,000 fans showing up to the gate they want another PPV cash cow. PPV is what drives the serious money in boxing. Without boxing stars, they have nothing.
Does it make a fucking difference what hand it was. To claim Calzaghe only landed one punch is so fucking ridiculous I don't know why I am wasting my time even treating it like a serious point.
You have spent the last two days searching high and low for evidence to back up your crackpot theory that Hopkins was clearly robbed but in that time you have failed to find even one person who gave Hopkins more than six rounds. And I am supposed to be the pathetic nuthugger?
I didn't say it was a punch, but a "clean effective punch" that is supposed to be used as criteria to score rounds instead of coming forward and throwing like a windmill.
It is not a crack pot theory, many credible sources including Britians very own have BHOP winning. The only thing crackpot in to give windmill punches, thrown like a women, credit that don't even land.
