Before i say anything i just wanna say i have nother against MMA, and find it very entertaining sometimes although i am not really a fan.
That said, just look at the two fights tonight.
Fedor needed just one punch to topple Arlovski in a fight that Arlovski was clearly winning. Pulling off a MAJOR upset in MMA is sooooo much easier. Look at the Kimbo Slice fight. All he needed to do was get lucky and stick out his right hand with his eyes closed, and he wins the fight.
In boxing to pull of a major upset like that, you need to pull off an extraordinary performance like Mosley did tonight. You cant just count on that one big punch scoring the KO in boxing. it rarely happens.
20K+ fans could have drove to Anaheim and watched the MMA card instead.
They didn't, and boxing put it's best foot forward.
You do know 15,000 still watched two russians fight in a city thats mostly known for Mexican Boxing fans right???
LOL! You are not seriously stupid enough to try and argue that the punch was intentional...
Yes I can because unlike you I have been following Fedor for years!!!! He is known to toy with fighters for abit and once they show any signs of actually being a threat he pulls some amazing move out of his ass that either submits them or knocks them the fuk out. He isn't 33-1 and the best pound for pound fighter in the sport because he just accidently destroyed everyone they put in front of him.
Seriously if you know nothing about the guy how can you even have an opinion.
if boxing had the same gloves in MMA, the fights would be short like that too lol. And even though i favor boxing more than MMA, you havent seen many MMA fights IMO if u bring that as an example. type in shogun vs lil nog and tell me that isnt a good MMA fight.
Then again tell me which boxers could take that blow Arlovski took.
most boxers wouldnt be out of position or off balance like that.
arlovski has a bad chin too which doesnt help
Seriously the world is dumber because of this post!!! I'm watching the video right now and Fedor was looking Andre right in the eyes before he threw the punch.

He was looking at the ground, bouncing off the ropes swinging wildly.
I have to admit that was better stand-up than most MMA fighter demonstrate. MMA seems to be trending towards a stand up format. I have a suspicion that promoters are starting to tell fighters to stay on their feet or they don't get paid.
Yeah I understand that boxers train to get hit. Then again tell me which boxers could take that blow Arlovski took.
Thanks for pointing that out, Its an original thought on a boxing forum that MMA fighters have bad boxing.
Translation=
"damn, hes right".
Guy, boxing gloves weigh more and have a wider area of impact.
They cause more damage point blank.
Its only lights out much easier because they can't take punches. They don't train to take punches like that because they concentrate on their other forms of fighting, whereas a boxer trains to be able to take hits to the head.

Yes, I understand what MMA is, but it doesn't negate the fact that they are simply horrible at the boxing aspect of it.

Boxing is superior
The UFC is about the UFC promotion. Boxing is about the fighters. People come to see the boxers, the UFC the fans come to see a show.
Come on man....its a fact getting hit with 4oz gloves has less of a cushing effect for KO than with boxing gloves. Yes your right boxing gloxes cause a wider area of damage and is indeed more dangerous for brain damage than MMA gloves becuase its more like getting hit with a sandbag over and over. MMA gloves you don't get that....its lights out much easier.
Ignoring what? I agree the striking with the hands of many MMA fighters needs to be much improved. Buts its not just boxing ...is it ,,,..Its called MMA.... boxing is just one part of the equation.

There are only 2 fighters that are truly elite in MMA in my opinion. Fedor and Anderson Silva, and Fedor is a bit on the chunky side.
Everyone else are bums or mediocre.
.
So BJ Penn and Georges St. Pierre are mediocre?
Boxing has more professional, more talented fighters with much better conditioning
Agree for the most part. But then again we are comparing a sport thats been around for 100+ years to one that is around 10-15 years
Do we really expect the talent to be the same as boxing yet? MMA wasn't around when all these fighters were kids.. lets be realistic people.
You do realize that a boxers glove has a wider area of impact, thus creating more damage right?

Yeah how ****ing boxers are using 4oz gloves? Just wondering thats all.....
fyi how many guys can take this slam and recover right away and win....Fedor can

And the glove in boxing was designed to protect the hands,
not the head.

Bull...Fedor set that up. Infact he practices that scenario in the gym. Arlovski uses that flying Knee many times. He studied and capitalized on it.

It's like watching a rifle shot from close range.
They can't take a punch for shit either.

thats bullshit. Fedor threw a shot with his fukken eyes closed and it landed. Thats evident by the follow up semi upper cut he through when Arlo was already on the floor.
Arlo was catching with STRAIGHT tight rights which were complimented by speed. He gave up his distance by throwing that knee and it backfired. Overconfidence my ass. This is what MMA is. Throwing a punch with your eyes closed and getting a KO.

The difference is, for the most part, MMA fighters have crap for boxing skills. No movement, no slipping of punches, no setting up punches.
They just stand in front of eachother flicking out a "jab", if you can call it that, and then throw one single punch, and then back out.
They can't take a punch for shit either.

I completely agree. I especially hate how often MMA fights end up grab fests on the floor. I know there's some skill involved in all that, but it's still incredibly boring (and homoerotic) to watch.
The only reason you find grappling homoerotic is because you obviously have issues with your own sexuality. When I see two MMA fighters grappling I see two athletes locked together in a struggle of epic preportions. When you see 2 Mixed Martial Artists grappling you envision two men engaging in homosexual sex.
Hmmmmmm maybe you might want to rethink your sexuality and start trying on high heels and dresses.
