I'm not sold on him yet but 72 seconds against earl was impressive. I dont think thaxton will do much better. Lets wait and see until after he fights for the european title, hopefully someone can really test his beard to see if he is packing china. He's not ready for a world title not for at least a year or 10 meaningful fights
calzaghe and jones in their primes would of been a cracker of a fight. I think jones would of got a close decision. he would of known he was fighting a great fighter by the end of it though.
Roy was outstanding in every department power, reflexes, speed and footwork. I think the best way for joe to fight Roy would be to the straighten up his southpaw punches like he did against hopkins, try to catch him with a left over the top to back him up then flurry. This would look impressive to the judges
FM and Cotto need to fight soon, Cotto has been fighting against welters where as Floyd hasn't been. Floyd needs to fight his number 1 contender in this division. I watch both fighters as I'm a BOXING fan and want to see the best fights, not excuses!!!
i can handle insults i just insult u back. i think u calzaghe fans cant handle the truth, calzaghe slaps can look ameture at times. calzaghe may have a good heart a solid chin but his bitch slaps and boxing style fuck it up. you guys talk about him being all that but if you compare him to other great fighters his style looks shit to me. honestly i sometimes wonder what you guys see in his style. its like a little kid throwing wild shots.
technically calzaghe does not throw a punch right. now ive trained in a boxing gym and i know thats not how you throw punches and no trainer ever teachers a boxer to throw wide shots. tell me of one world champ in history that throws punches like calzaghe. just watch sugar ray robinson unbelievable boxing technician such a delight to watch the way he throws his punches. calzaghe just looks like dud i cant understand you guys see in his style.
Ok you don't like his wide punches because you don't think it looks good, but if it works and he wins all of his fights using it then who cares. it makes for exciting fights. I can't think of one fighter that fights like calzaghe, but what's that got to do with your point? it works for him and it's entertaining and that means big tv money and bigger fights.
whatever you reckon im sure i have enough knowledge about the sweet science. just because i have a opinion about calzaghes style doesnt mean i dont know much about boxing. im not the first to say his a slapper either. ok he may have hurt kessler but doesnt make his style impressive. we can all agree he throws wide punches and that too me is not what i like to see in a boxer so i think his style sux. he doesnt look impressive at all sometimes he looks like am ameture with those punches. ill give him credit for winning but its ugly . so suck my dick punk
You've talked about his style being shit but he changes it to suit his opponent. I've watched him since he fought eubank when he was a banger, now because of his left hand he boxes more. His style makes for exciting fights why do you think america wants to see more of him? is it because his style sux!! tell me who you prefer to watch thats still active, If you say bhop then there is something wrong with you as he is boring as hell to watch. Calzaghe will outwork him to a UD, Bhop just dosn't throw enough anymore to win. so suck my dick bitch!!!
when Kessler was interviewed on setanta he admitted he was hurt to the body by one of joe's punches, I think he said it was in the 8th round and this prevented him from throwing leather for the full 12. So credit to joe's slaps for that one eh.
Right now I would have calzghe at #3 on the pound for pound list. When he beats bhop I would move him to #2. I'm not a big floyd fan but I can't see how you could remove an undefeated 5 weight world champ from the top spot.
Ali go back to riding your prisoners, stick to what your good at!! cos you clearly have no idea about boxing.
calzaghe is very very good and there are only a few people out there that have a chance of beating him anyone that says he is shit are stupid.
but i have to admit for some reason i find him annoying not his boxing style but just him. i would love for someone to ko him.
The only people at light heavyweight that would have a geniune chance of beating him are hopkins because of his rough style. and dawson because of his southpaw stance, fast hands and very good combos. those are the 2 fights i wanna see next year.
I agree 100% that those are the 2 fights he should make next. I think he will ud bhop but I havn't seen enough of dawson to give an opinion.
no bhop is old now past his prime
but id prefer mosley cotto hatton even mayweather over calzaghe any day
at least there punches look normal. just watch a clip of mosley vs vargas when mosley gave vargas a left hook, it looked awesome no way calzaghe could look that good with any of his punches those slap are too wide to impress. btw fuck you
Did you not see the calzaghe and byron mitchell fight? Joe was on his arse got up and cracked mitchell right on the chin with one of his slaps then another then another then another. looked quite impressive to me mate. whats the matter can't handle a little joke? is thinking of those insults taxing your brain?
Kessler is a good fighter and it's going to be a very competitive fight, I'm predicting a close ud for calzaghe. BTW I think his hands will hold up in this fight for some reason, maybe I should leave of the puff!!
"GAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAGGHAHAHAGHAHAGAHA
Lacy was overhyped. Yes I;'m from the states and said it wat before that fight. Plus he had like 20 fights. WOW.
Eubanks was done...old and wrapped.
Sheika was the best fighter he ever fought. A b++ level fighter.
GAHAhA...you guys kill me."
Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh!
Sounds like you need to grow up abit:bottle: . Why do people come on this site and slag off other fighters, especially the good ones. Give joe some respect he's not been beaten since he was 17, is a world champ and #1 in the div
I agree with you that naz didn't fight anyone with the ability of PBF, but in saying that has PBF fought anyone like a prime naz. It's not as cut and dry as people like to make out. People forget how fast Naz was in his prime. On a side note I would like him to make a come back, and watch him get a hiding.
I'm not a fan of Naz in fact I hated him. I watched every time he fought hoping someone would put him in his place cos I hated him that much, but if he trained correctly then I doubt anyone would have beated him at or around his weight division. If naz caught you with either hand it was lights out. Now for all those people who say he was a fake, stop talking shit! too many people on these forums belittle great fighters just cos they don't like them. yes he was schooled by mab (who is a future hall of fame member) but it is widly know that naz didn't train correctly ( big head, lazy) for that fight. Naz really could of been one of the greats, but with £30 million in the bank it all went to his very overblown head.
at last a good post that no nuthuggers have ruined yet, I think joe could beat both of them but it wouldn't be easy. Joe "could" out work bhop as he's not that active in the ring anymore, but would bhop alter his approch to the fight and go toe to toe. The taylor fight would be good, but I think joe would defo beat him. I feel taylor only beat bhop cos because bhop didn't put in the effort required, look what happened later on in the fight when he did turn it on, Taylor was forced back.
I would like to see joe fight Kessler but I understand why he won't, theres just not enough money on the line.
Clearly joe dosn't have one punch KO power. He never had! but what he does have is a punch which shakes people up and stuns them, while they try to cover up he's still hitting them with stinging punches which hurt. Look back over his fights see what happens when he does sit down on his punches, he gains the respect of his opponent. They don't come walking straight though his punches. When joe tries to be abit faster I would agree that there is little in those punches but they still manage to get the job done.
Beat a prime Hopkins.........wow. Of course you're not biased.
Listen I don't care about where a fighters from or what colour they are as long as they are entertaining. Too many people on here try and dismantle fighters records when they have never done anything in there own life worth mentioning. I read coments from people like you everyday slagging off this fighter or that fighter, get a grip of your self and grow up.
Now back to point I will try and explain quickly why I believe calzaghe would beat a prime hopkins and if you still don't agree fine but at leat give valid reason instead of putdowns. Prime hopkins liked to come forward and was easier to hit and prime calzaghe loved people to come onto him instead of having to chase them round the ring. Hopkins game plan worked for the first 3 or 4 rounds against calzaghe and you could see how uncomfortable calzaghe was at coming forward and leading off. A prime hopkins would hunt calzaghe which would lead to much better exchanges between the too, with hopkins easier too hit than he was in april. This is where I think calzaghe speed would shine. Now that's my opinion on what could of happened around 2001 :boxingbut we will never know as hopkins went back on an already agreed fight with calzaghe and that is on recored!!!:boxing:
calzaghe is too big for SRL and Duran, the hitman would have a good chance with his reach and power. hagler is a bit small for a middle as well so I think he would beat 3 out of the 4 ud with the hitman it could be a toss up depending on who gets their game plan to work firts. all beat calzaghe P4P.
do you see prime calzaghe winning against toney? just out of interest.
btw i agree with you if joe takes out dawson he becomes a two weight linear champ and then he becomes a serious contender for the ATG label.
i think it all depends on how joe feels once hes done- he doesn't have a style that ages well and once hes retired i dont think he'll come back unless his hands are back to something near their best and if he really misses the buzz from boxing. i wouldn't rule it out but my head tells me that joe will retire and stay retired.
I think that all depends on what Toney shows up to be honest. If the weight drained SMW version shows up I think Calzaghe would have a great chance but at LHW Toney would win a ud.
I agree with you that when calzaghe retires then that it for him.
I'm a Calzaghe fan and have watched him since he won the British Title, so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to how good he is, now would joe in his prime beat roy in his prime....... no I think roy in his prime was outstanding. Would joe beat a prime hopkins......yes I think he would have.
We could all sit here and tear any fighter's record apart with ease, even oscars....some might say he ducked winky.. others might say he got gift decisions....others might say his best wins were against old fighters. It's very easy to do.
Should calzaghe be an ATG for me at the moment I would say no but, fight dawson (which would clean out the division in my eyes) then retire and he would be. Alot of people want to see a Hopkins rematch.. why not, if hopkins wants to get revenge then come here and take less money.
I watched a video of Froch vs Westerman a guy who was 15-5. Froch lost the first 6 rounds. Before landing a lucky shot and winning a stoppage.
I think he has a chance at beating other unproven SMW's such as Inkin. And possibly Miranda.
But Kessler, Bute, Andrade, Bika, Manfredo, Jermain Taylor. All these guys beat him.
I think he might just sneak into the top 10 at SMW.
But hes definetely overhyped. With no real defence, or technique, hes a walking title. And i think he will beat Pascal, who is another over rated, over hyped fighter. But then a top 10 opponent will take his title.
I think that froch would beat Andrade, Bika, Manfredo and Jermain Taylor easily. Froch has more power than pavlik but he will need to tighten up that defence even though he looks as if he's got a good chin. There is no doubt that Froch is being ducked by alot of fighters out there. now that joe has left the division I would rate him about 2 or three behind kessler and pavlik if he moves up( what a fight that would be froch v's pavlik world war 3).
I don't want to see it... not after what Cotto has already been through.
And Margarito doesn't deserve to fight a "name"... at all.
I agree margarito is a cheat and should of been banned for life... same goes for shane mosley if it's proved he took roids. Cheating in boxing could result in the death of a fighter, at the very least long lasting damage.
I find it strange for grown men to come onto a boxing chat website and bash undefeated world champion fighters. Taylors had 16 fights, is a unified champ as well as the ring belt holder and widely recognised as the number 1 in the division. Josh also signed with Top Rank to go after the other belts/big fights instead of hiding away. Whats is there not to like about him, he's aiming for glory! While you're sitting at your keyboard getting the keys all sticky!
Winky defintely is better at a lower weigth but, this guy is a true unhearled warrior and the most durable fighter i think ive seen... Theres no way Joe can pitty pat him all not and not get hurt in the process... Joe is bound to break a bone in his hand when all he's slapping is gloves.. This wont be an easy fight for either and Joe C should be the favorite.. However i want to see Winky win it and i think he can.... I see this one turning out much like the Taylor fight did but unlike JT I think Joe will be more confident and ultimately that confidence that propels him to keep coming forward as i think he will, will be his downfall!
I respect what your saying but joe has those new gloves to help his brittle hands. It WON'T be an easy fight for either, I just think calzaghe is too big too fast and every bit as good a boxer as winky.
Funny when they were both on Sky boxing show and side by side Carl wasn't so confident when speaking about what may have happend. Carl said I would have had to knock Joe out as he would have decisioned me, Joe was never close to being stopped.

OK James, calm down you lost!!! lol :bottle:
That lucky pr/ck Groves should be ashamed of himself!!.. Degale was totally robbed imo, he was the one coming forward all night pressing the action, he was the one who rocked Groves several times and nearly knocked him down in the ninth, plus James finished the fight stronger but the UK screwed their best talent for that chinny joker Groves,
The fact that he keeps kissing Dirrell's backside tells you all you need to know!!.. he should be looking at Dirrell as a possible future opponant but the word on the street is Dirrell totally schooled him in sparring so i guess that fight won't be happening any time soon  ,
Groves is getting too big for his boots but rest assured it will be Degale who goes further in his career, if James stays calm and keeps working hard he could one day challenge Andre Ward, he has the talent to make it a decent fight, but Groves wouldn't last five minuets with Ward imo, not now not ever.
