what about cristian mijares... he's da man in that matter based on his latest fights, he's always in punching position and punishes almost every mistake!! b hop looked bad against winky... and floyd is good but he doesn't throw enough punches to prove that point imo... he's been too defensive lately. :D... calzaghe has great timing because he's reckless almost always but he gets away with besides his unnatural reflexes
Fair enough... Winky's timing is very underrated IMO.
Another guy not mentioned in the poll (even though I am sounding like a fucking fanboy mentioning 2 out of my 3 favorites in this post) that has great timing is Vernon Forrest.
If you watch his last few fights, how many times has there been an opening that he didn't drop his right hand into? Not very many, which is why he was able to stop a very good defensive fighter that Mayorga couldn't stop in Piccirillo.

and yeah, forrest is great at that matter too imo... but he depends more on his reach, and trickiness... so i guess that's why he's not mentioned by many

It's the exact same reason I don't understand why everyone is writing Winky Wright off for the rest of his career because he looked bad against Hopkins... The list of how many people who have looked good against Hopkins is as long as the list of people who have looked good against Wright. They both stop at 0.
Anyways, you might be right about Mijares... in reality, very few people have seen him fight, which is probably why he has not gotten mentioned frequently on this topic. I myself haven't seen him, so... I guess I gave an incomplete analysis by picking Hopkins when I have not seen all the elite level fighters fight.

I remember you told me that Shane Mosley's speed was going to be the downfall of Miguel Cotto, but I saw Cotto neutralize Shane's speed in the ring that night. Even though Shane had the longer arms, he was constantly getting outjabbed, and Cotto was throwing the right shot at the right time, which I attribute to timing.
that and of course that shane's so old and slow now... compared to prime shane :ugh:
because he can not follow directions once the fight happens! the guy does fine all camp allegedly, but when teh fight happens all his preparation goes out the window! no wonder manny had to leave! he was probably frustrated as fuck! it's such a shame too man, because the kid has gifts that most guys don't, and he is wasting them!
yep... i think that's kind of a sickness or something, or at least some condition like people who cannot play an instrument with ease, concentrate at school, be good at math, etc... personally it happened to me while i was playing basketball, in any official game we had in highschool my coach told me what to do and it was just what we always trained, but i went out there like crazy and did whatever i wanted, even tho i played PG, and that was it, i just couldn't concentrate because everything i did was like it just flowed outta my body, so i guess same thing happens to jermain, he's just to natural that his body makes the fight, not his brains :puppy_dog

i was watching it and seeing that hopkins riight hand wich i thought would be the only thing not dirty to counterpunch winky was not landing at all... winky slipped it, avoided it, blocked it and came win a jab and a straight left, which gave him a lot of rounds, then it was just a matter of not letting bernard land anything significant as he did btw... clear wipe out... and don't forget that fckn head of bernard... what a fckn robery!! i knew this would happen

on the matter of hatton-floyd... i think hatton will not catch mayweather... cause he just follows his opponents always trying to make the fight, but in this case... floyd shouldn't have any problem cause of his footwork... he knows how to not get caught by any big punches(watch corrales-floyd... and corrales fought a damn good fight in terms on how he should've followed PBF) specially by someone that has no technique at all... besides he's proved to have a solid body too... the only thing is he hasn't fought nobody as dirty as hatton and i don't know if that could wear him down, anger him, trouble him or something like that and that's the only way it'd be closer in the scores :d:banana:
