When people like mayweather and toney use that hitman kind of style, they roll with and duck the punches. I never see Taylor trying to roll the punches. Instead, he just tries a short quick slip.
It doesn't seem to be effective. Basically, if he doesn't dodge the punch, he gets tagged. Could somebody explain why he fights with that style.
Pavlik's gonna k.o. him again if he doesn't change something. I think JT throws a more effective jab than pavlik, it's just that pavlik keeps his hands up, so they don't land as much.

i've always wondered why too.....he's a squared up version of Floyd
because he can not follow directions once the fight happens! the guy does fine all camp allegedly, but when teh fight happens all his preparation goes out the window! no wonder manny had to leave! he was probably frustrated as fuck! it's such a shame too man, because the kid has gifts that most guys don't, and he is wasting them!
yep... i think that's kind of a sickness or something, or at least some condition like people who cannot play an instrument with ease, concentrate at school, be good at math, etc... personally it happened to me while i was playing basketball, in any official game we had in highschool my coach told me what to do and it was just what we always trained, but i went out there like crazy and did whatever i wanted, even tho i played PG, and that was it, i just couldn't concentrate because everything i did was like it just flowed outta my body, so i guess same thing happens to jermain, he's just to natural that his body makes the fight, not his brains :puppy_dog
roy helped to make this famous, and alot of guys do it, but it is sad to say 99 pct of them are not quick enough to keep from getting hit. taylor included!

i've taken a liking to keeping my left at my hip, and i've been sparring this way recently. i really like snapping my jab from down low. it's harder to see and it feels quicker and sharper to me. of course you're more susceptible to straight rights (or left hooks if you keep your right hand across your body, on the left side of your face.) but mainly you're looking to leave that opening, and counter.
some guys just feel more comfortable fighting this way, and i'm assuming JT is one of the.
I agree with blackirish137. I think its a bad habit. He's been doing it as long as I can remember. I don't think he can outbox Kelly. He's gotta be rough and try to catch him again by trading. If he lets Kelly walk him down and catch him he could get Koed again.
He also has to stop backing up into corners. In the first fight when he did Kelly knew he was stuck and would just tee off on him. Jermain's flaws are easy to point out.
he probebly did it and got away with it in easier fights and in the amateurs, and it became a bad habit that he cant get rid of in the middle of a fight.

It's something I've noticed with JT as well.
I assume he thinks he's a lot slicker than he actually is.
Taylor developed that style so that anyone who actually wants to see him win ends up biting not just their fingernails, but the entire finger off, during the course of the fight. It's a promotional deal he has with Fingerkind prosthetics- one of the only prosthetic finger makers in the country. They get tons of business from all the nervousness this risky tactic causes.
