id say if they fought 10 times hearns wins 7-3 . titos bad footwork and lack of head movement would just spell doom. unless you have a bowling ball head like hagler there is no way youre walking through those shots. his jab was a mile long and he moved extremely well. two things tito has no answer for. imagine if de la hoya and hopkins' jab gave him trouble hearns' jab was better than either of them. hearns has every punch in the book, left hook was great, maybe the best right hand pfp in the history of boxing. one of the greatest jabs ever. on the other hand, tito definately has the power to knock out tommy if he got careless. so there is definately that chance that tito can get in range but with his inability to get past hearns' jab i seriously doubt it. lets not even talk about speed difference either, hearns had much quicker hands.
who is saying hearns' chin is iron? if you look at it from a match up point of view its just terrible for tito. great jab, great movement, devastating right hand. how is tito getting past the jab? ray had his ways to get to hearns , even with all of his physical talents and skill he was still at a huge disadvantage when fighting hearns because of that right hand you HAD to respect. it took him 14 rounds to find his spot to stop tommy. ray would beat trinidad even worse than hearns imo, 10-10 times at welter weight. but like i say, trinidad has the power to make a difference but he has to work so hard to get into a position to use his money punch when hearns can throw his right hand at will. both ray and hearns murder de la hoya as well :D
when was the last time winky beat someone on his toes? hes old and just tries to bully opponents with his jab. hes a VERY hittable target. his whole body is constantly exposed. NONE of his last opponents had any power to capitalize. i think trinidad would stop him around the 8th round, maybe sooner.
shoulder roll defense defends your midsection better than any other stance. you have no shot at hitting someones liver whos in a shoulder rolls stance. you only see their lead side (shoulder) they give you half the target a fighter in normal stance does. they keep their left hand low also defending the exposed side of their body. right hand is high to block a high lead left hook. reflexes used to dodge the right hand. theyre defending themselves with shoulders , back, arms etc it is very difficult to get to their midsections.
winky and strum fight very similar. they bully behind a jab and the fact that they havent faced someone hard enough to bring their hands down. trinidad is a MUCH harder puncher than mosley. i just cant picture anyone exposing their body to trinidad and being able to withstand the barrage of punches. tito throws beautiful combinations if you give him a target. and winky is a very big target. look at the guys who've had success against trinidad, executioner and dlh. they moved the whole fight and kept a jab in his face. neither of them stood in front of trinidad. now, if winky came in with a plan to fight how he used to and move alot, then i could see him giving tito a lot of trouble. but i havent seen him fight that way in ages. when was the last time winky faced a good puncher? vargas?
Has to be Hector "El Macho" Camacho...I remember when he was at his prime, he had a song that was like "what time it is....Macho Time"
http://www.silversurfer91.homestead.com/files/camacho.JPG lol all about the gold MACHO chain
"Bugner," he says, "You haven't turned queer on me have you?" Then he says "How many kids you got?"
I say, "Five. How many have you got, Muhammad?"
" 'Bout nine," he says, "so I beat you again."
lol :D
i think joe frazier would destroy him, he got through the best jab in heavyweight history (ali). also in sparring he broke larry holmes' ribs getting passed his jab. theres no way to keep the man out! unless you ahve foremans uppercut LOL
reid had that bad eye since amateurs, danny santos did that to him. its not his fault his career didnt take off, if it wasnt for that eye he couldve been special.
im excited! i'll be at staples to watch :D
Watching the Joe Frazier fights of the 60s and 70s one would think that.
I am not sure how big Frazier was, but I would bet that he was about 5'11 or 6'. He also weighed about 210, but with the nutrition of today he could get up to 220-230 without much of a problem.
The question is, how many shots would he have to take to keep raking VK to the body.
The Foreman fights were a little indicative of what would happen. frazier would be caught coming in.
the question to me is how many shots could vitali take once frazier did the inevitable and got right past his jab or whatever he was throwing out. arguably the best bob and weave in history, he constantly fought bigger fighters none could keep him out. he just destoyed solid big men for fun. vitali is NOT big george, theres nothing similar in what they do so i have no clue why you think vitali could do the same to frazier ?? how are they similar? just wondering
i really dont see the problem, its been done forever. look what tarver did after roy jones beat ruiz. he rained in on his parade and got his chance to prove his skill. if harris doesnt call out cotto he will never get a shot at him
Taylor did get robbed. If you dont know the story, what happened is when Steele was talking to him, Taylor's trainer Lou Dibella was up on the ring post talking to him. That's why Taylor didnt respond because he was looking at his trainer, plus there was less then 10 seconds left in the fight. The ring has a light on it that flashes with 10 seconds left. The refs are trained to pay attetion to the light and not stop the fight if it goes off in the last round
when your face looks like its been through a meat grinder and the ref asks you twice to respond to him after a vicious knockdown and you dont say anything, i dont know how steele could be faulted for that. if anyones at fault maybe duva shouldve shut his fat mouth and let taylor respond to the ref (if he was even capable of doing that)
i think camacho is more ridiculous than paez because paez intentially tried to look like a clown in there to get more attention. camacho actually thought he was the shyt LOL :D
chavez showed a lot of skill in that fight, taylor was just too fuccing fast chavez would land one good shot and taylor would respond by bouncing numerous shots off his skull. the speed disparity was shocking. just an incredible performance by chavez, completely outclassed talent wise and was hit with like 30 low blows and still came on for the KO. if anyone wants to bitch about anything richard steele did in that fight it would be letting chavez get hit low so many times.
hes finished, the worst thing that couldve happened to him is he tore his knee because now his fans have another excuse to believe hes still a threat in the heavyweight division. no one is scared of him anymore, they know all they have to do is stand up through the his 1st round assault and by the 3rd round hes already out of gas and they can just pick him apart. vitalis destruction of danny williams showed just how far tyson has slipped, but the guy is broke and he needs to keep fighting to pay of his bills. tragic
i dislike cory spinks, light fisted runners just dont appeal to me. i also dislike smoke gainer for being rjj's gimp for so many years.
obviously, like hopkins. from the streets to jail to the top of the boxing world. also like james toney . big mouth and backs it up.
You just dont understand boxing. Saying Wright is very hittable is like saying that Floyd and Toney are very hittable. Floyd and Toney let guys hit them and they roll the punches or block them with their hands, arms, and shoulders. This tires fighters out then you can dominate them when they stop punching. Wright also lets people hit him. He always keeps his guard up. You cant penetrate his D. He keeps his arms straight up so that's all you hit. All Mosley was hitting was his forearms. You could see that he was frustrated because he couldnt get through. Wright leaves his body exposed for shots just like Sturm, but when you have used this technique for a long time then your body is trained to handel the body punch. Oscar watched tape on Sturm and thought he could eat this guy's body up, but it never hurt Sturm because he has trained his body to handle them. That's exactly what Manny Steward was saying after the fight. What Oscar was doing early on looked good but it never hurt him because he is equipped to take that, and what happened. Oscar started to wear down. Tito never goes to the body anyway. He will hit Winkys arms all night long
LOL i dont understand boxing. youre trying to say winky can stand in front of trinidad with his hands up and win a fight? who has EVER stood in front of trinidad and won? and i dont understand boxing? how are floyd/toney similar to winky? winky gives you his ENTIRE body including his liver. floyd and toney show half of their body, and keep their left hand low to defend it. they leave the left side of their head open and depend on reflexes to dodge and counter. floyd and toney use shoulder roll, winky does not. they dont fight ANYTHING alike so how can you compare winky to floyd and toney? i just find it hilarious since shoulder roll stance is ALL about defending your midsection. your liver is hidden in the back and you keep your left hand low defending your lead side. winky has both hands high exposing his belly. you have absoluetely no clue what youre talking about. oscar and mosley have absolutely no power to break that sort of defense strum and winky use. please up your boxing iq before you step to me again
Big difference is . .Foreman was a much bigger puncher then Klitschko, and had much quicker hands, and notably a MUCH better uppercut. Frazier would be way too fast for Vitali, and his work-rate would get Vitali exhausted by the 3rd round . . .
Bonavena hit harder then Klitschko and Frazier steamrolled him . . .Mathis was also a huge HW with a good punch and Frazier steamrolled him. Size is not the issue. Klitschko has actually been outweighed in 3 of his last 4 fights. Its conditioning and proper boxing technique. Danny Williams would've given himself a greater chance if he'd weighed in a good 40-50 lbs less then he did, but even with that the man displayed a horrible defense and an awful fight plan . . .
 Corrie Sanders is now one of the hardest hitting HWs of all time!??! LOL. How did he achieve this? By knocking out Wlad Klitschko? . . .Hasim Rahman took his best shots more then a few times in their fight and kept coming, but was put on queer street by Masgaev, Tua and Lewis and hurt by Ruiz.
i didnt see this post because of that clown who spammed up the thread, anyway this is exactly what my train of thought is. frazier was just an animal in the ring, he was constantly pressuring, bobbing and weaving and destorying bigger men for 15 rounds. his conditioning was incredible. the pace he would set there is no way vitali could keep up. even if danny williams was in better shape vitali would still destory him. hes a bum. all he has is a big punch but hes wobbled anytime hes hit with solid punches. he has almost zero head movement and a pathetic jab, giving him absolutely no chance to get in on vitali no matter what kind of shape hes in
mosley is going to rule? what if vernon forrest decides to go back to welter and pimp him up for a 3rd time? lol anyway who the hell cares about jose rivera he turned down a shot at zab judah to make a name for himself.
i absolutely love injin chi. the guy is a piece of concrete windmilling punches. not sure if he can take mannys bombs though, but if his chin held up hed definately give him fits. 3k battery did look like a boy against a man in there, how tall is he 5'3?
how many low blows did taylor land in the fight? 30? 40? it was a ridiculous amount. to say that steele was biased towards chavez is absured. if he was why didnt he take any points away from taylor? if anything he looked biased in taylors favor throughout the fight.
im not in total belief that old school fighers always beat new school. i personally believe lennox, evander, tyson etc all in their primes could give hell to heavyweights in ANY era. however, 80s welterweights were just in a league of their own. leonard, hearns, benitez, duran etc etc the guys from the 90s dont even touch them imo. all 4 of these guys would abuse the 90s welters, oscar, tito, quartey, whitaker. their skill level was just that much higher, fight tapes and analysis dont lie. hearns would turn sweat pea into his retarded step child.
roy was a great fighter, i think when people go over his career after he retires and study his fights they will see that. great natural ability, its all gone now obviously. he cant see anything coming anymore. he needs to retire asap
its because yah boy X is in LA and can walk to staples center to watch the fight. damn im lovin this trend i hope more and more fights are at staples :D :D :D
exactly, this is a financial decision no security blanket for hopkins. if he loses he will lose the WBC and the ring title to eastmen. to my knowledge he will be stripped of the ibf and wba titles because they strip any champ that loses, defending the belts or not. not sure about the wbo, so if hopkins loses he will pretty much lose all his belts
but we all know that AINT' HAPPENIN LOL
