Hopkins-Eastman only for WBC belt?

Hennessy Sports would like to make it clear that only the WBC middleweight title will be on the line when Howard Eastman challenges undisputed middleweight king Bernard Hopkins on February 19th. There has been some confusion over this matter following an announcement last week by HBO – and subsequently Hennessy Sports – stating that the WBA, IBF and WBO titles were also up for grabs. “We would like to apologise for this misunderstanding,” said Hennessy Sports head Mick Hennessy. “It was never our intention to mislead anybody. “Our understanding at the time of our announcement was that all the Championships would be contested. “We have since learnt, however, that Bernard Hopkins is only prepared to stake the WBC title he has been mandated to defend. “If this situation changes we will keep everybody updated.” Hennessy added: “This is no way detracts from the fight. “At the end of the day the two best middleweights in the world are facing each other and that is what counts --------Boxing-central.com That is a str8 up bitch move by Hopkins. If he loses, he still keeps the WBA/WBO/IBF belts, bad for boxing.
