I like him i really do, i hope he can come back I think physically he's fine he just broken mentally. Manfredo is worse than Reid but lacy just wouldn't throw but when he did land manfredo felt it.
Manfredo fought that fight scared. You can tell he was afraid of Lacy's intimadating size and strength. His pitter patt punches were doing nothing and all Lacy had to do was apply pressure, put his punches together and back him up. He could have gotten rid of Manfredo by the middle rounds or even after that first knockdown when he had Manfredo rattled.
Morales won the second war. Barrera won the frist. IMO
Correct. The first fight should have been a split dec given to Marco. The 2nd fight should have been given split dec to my man El Terrible. Erik boxed a great fight that night. Marco did not deserve to win.
Diego Corrales (r.i.p.)......great heart and always got up but got KD all the time.
I actually thought he had one of the better chins up until the Floyd Mayweather jr fight. Before that fight I dont recall him ever being knocked down.
Side question:
Why was Castillo not "too big" for Hatton but Floyd was? Castillo is a bigger man than Floyd is.
http://www.fightnewsextra.com/cc/FIGHTS2007/06-wi-hatton-castillo/images/hatton-castillo-weighin0176.jpg
Castillo is smaller than Floyd. Floyds upper half is thicker than Castillo. Also dont forget , Castillo was a shot fighter with nothing left in the fuel tank when he fought Ricky.
Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.
I don't think many could test his jaw until he lost his reflexes.
Tarver pretty much ruined his jaw in that first fight. I'd never seen Roy take so many shots in that first fight.
Who would ricky beat easier? paulie or witter?
Hatton would crush and bully Paulie. His roughousing tactics would be too much for Paulie. It would be an ugly fight and Paulie would probably go the distance and survive but would still lose. Paulie coudn't dent Hattons iron jaw.
Michael Grant.....was he ever a titleist? I can't recall at the moment.
Good one here. Grant often fought and punched like he was afraid of getting hit. I remember the Golota fight where he was almost KO'd but came back to win. Then came Lennox...
Who had the best jab? The accuracy of Holmes? The speed of Ali? The power of Liston? Or a combination of all by Klitschko?
Larry Holmes and Lennox Lewis. Ali and Liston cannot compare to those 2. Ali had a great jab but it was more of a flickering stinging piston not a jab as heavy as Larry and Lennox's.
This fight will get stopped prematurely by an accidental headbutt for sure. Two rams going head to head. Southpaw vs Orthodox. Both reckless. I dont honestly know who would win. Maybe Hatton because he is the bigger and stronger of the 2.
At this point in Vargas's career one power punch from "Strongman" Mayorga ( lol btw...) would flatten him. Both are shot but Vargas is far worse than Mayorga.
Jones didnt impress me. What impressed me was the will and determination of a hurt and much smaller Trinidad. Jones could have taken this guy out but didnt want to risk opening up. Those body shots though Tito were landing were affecting Roy.
I hate to say that Jermain Taylor will lose again in this rematch with Pavlik. Pavlik is too big...too strong...and too much power for little Jermain. Pavlik's chin is also miles ahead of Taylor.
I wonder how many times people are going to state the obvious with Mayweather-De La Hoya II?
Vernon Forrest-Winky Wright (just because they are my two favorite fighters).
The bore-fest of the year.
joe looks like hes scared of all his opponents but when he gets in the ring he doesn't lose so what does it matter
It matters because Hopkins is the executioner and will execute a fight plan that will gaurantee him victory. Who has Joe fought really ? think deep. When Hopkins is the underdog he often rises to the occasion with a masterful performance of the ages. His chopping right hand lead will land on Joe's face all night long.
the real story will be the mind games that Hopkins will play on Calzhage. Not only will this be Calz's coming out party in America which =' s massive pressure but he is facing a guy who will fart in your momma's face to get under your skin and mark my words Hopkins will get under Calzaghes skin. Once he does that the battle's half won, all thats left is the execution.
Amen brother. Calzaghe is underestimating a fighter like X who can adapt to any style. The light punching volume puncher that is Joe Calzaghe will be the victim of a perfectly executed fight plan.
Barrera or Morales would've beaten Floyd...
Floyd stomp them? Give me a fuking break he couldnt stomp a 34 year old past his prime DLH...
El Terrible would have given Floyd fits back in his prime. A prime Morales would have given Floyd a helluva tough fight. Morales could easily fight at 140 lbs.
Yes it's possible.
At this moment (After watching Mosley against Cotto, Mosley I thought might have had flashes of old based on the Collazo fight prior etc) I think Forrest might be the best choice of anyone to beat Floyd.
I'm basing the following assessment on what I saw from Floyd in his last two fights, and how his respective opponent (DLH/Hatton) was able to at times.........win the round or parts of. Well all I could see.......is that Floyd was vulnerable to the jab against DLH and whenever Oscar threw it, it landed and he was temporarily dominating the round. That didn't happen often and it would only happen when Floyd lapses and does the 1 and done thing.
Hatton was able to land lead punches on Floyd. I don't know if that was his quickness, or that was Floyd standing flat footed. Well all I know is.......Forrest simply leads with the jab and throws a right hand behind it.
All he would do, is stick to his boxing routine. The question is.........can he deal with the shots Floyd would hit him with? LOL.
Because I'll be quite honest with you here. People say Mayorga has power........lol I don't see how those telegraphed punches are anywhere near as deadly as the accurate shots Floyd throws. If he lands in succession he'll more than likely have Forrest in trouble.
Would I pick Forrest? Nope. I'm just saying.......he'd stand a shot IMO.
Floyd by late TKO.
Forrest IMO throws more jabs than Oscar and if he were to land accurately and often could Floyd handle it ? oh...along with the big right hand followed. Good post though by you Mr Knives.
Im not sure yet, and im not sayin cotto is anything close to gatti... but in the gatti fight gomez 110% impressed me... he was quick, he had power, his punches had serious snap on them...
anyone else see this as not being a walk in the park for cotto?
id still take cotto for a win... but i dont think gomez is a push over
Might be somewhat of a competive fight until Cotto drags him into waters he's never been to. I'm pretty damn Miguelito hits harder than Manfredo jr.
according to ********** dot com tyson has a plan on making it back to the ring to fight holyfield .holyfield responded (ive whooped him twice and ill whoop him again)??
what do you think of this battle of the wash ups fight?
Is this a joke ?
I got Pavlik by KO...
MAN THIS IS GONNA BE A GREAT FIGHT.. CANT WAIT :boxing:
I got Taylor by decision.
People underestimating Jermain but he will rise to the occasion and beat Kelly by a decision no one will argue.
Taylor will NOT GET KO'd
Why in the hell would Tito's dad ever be an option?
Umm...It was a joke maybe.
Did you happen to notice Mia St. Johns name too ?
And whats wrong with Papa Trinidad ?
