Those dudes aren't even fighting each other. No one expects Pac to fight Crawford or Spence at this stage. And Thurman obviously isn't fighting at the moment.
Fair do’s.. But homecoming party’s and big street celebrations for Pacquiao for a ‘regular’ title win against Matthyse, really?
That’s right, nobody does expect him to fight Spence or Crawford at this stage, so taking that fact into consideration, let’s not get carried away and see this as some ‘big’ world title win then?
If pac wanted to challenge himself, why didn’t he call out Crawford, Thurman or Spence?
Why the ‘regular’ champion, and weakest of the champions in matthyse??
Absolute stone-wall cherry picking here by Pacquiao..
I'd rather see the Canelo rematch or a Saunders unification. Charlo just got to 160 and hasn't fought anyone worth a damn. He should be the one fighting someone like Jacobs, Derevyanchanko etc... with 4 titles, nobody ever has to fight anyone to get ranked number 1 in a different organisation than the other top 3 contenders so we get all of them fighting fringe top 10-15 guys instead of each other.
This is what should happen.
Only fight left for GGG is to fight Saunders to try and become the undisputed champion. We all know the real result in the Canelo fight so other than that he’s got nothing else to prove.
The only fights that make sense are the Saunders and Canelo ones.
Charlo needs to prove himself at this weight and at least beat Jacobs. Interim belt. What’s the point? Doesn’t seem like Charlo wants any of Jacobs..
Think this fight pans out similar to the Brook fight. Charlo starts impressive and connects with a few power shots which get eaten up by golovkin.. Put then Charlo gets KO’ed and put into a coma..
This has been going on for way too long, it has stalled both their careers and frustrated fans and boxers alike.
Golovkin has wasted critical years of his career bending over for Canelo and wasting away many opportunities to cement a legacy.
Canelo has also wasted years on this and has now destroyed his reputation with the clenbuterol scandal.
Fans have waited and waited; getting an uneventful draw in the first fight and a rematch which is now completely up in the air.
There are a bunch of great fights to be made with these two at MW with names like Saunders, Charlo, Derevyanchenko, Andrade, Murata and Jacobs. Yet it has all been swept under the rug in the name of business.
Both of them should do everyone a service and fight one of the above names before going for the rematch. Fans deserve it, boxers deserve it and the sport needs it.
Completely agree with this. It’s been very ugly.
Loma came up a division and knocked out the top 2 world champion who has greater physical attributes than him in his first fight at lightweight. So yes, he lived up to the hype..
What else do people want?
Numbers don't lie.
If you took the ratio of views : population and scaled it up to the American population, it would be the equivalent of getting around 7.5 million views in USA.
It’s impressive that he got good views last night and put on a show. And it was a good move for the Fury’s to go back to th drawing board. Also good for boxing that people are tuning in at those figures to watch a domestic title fight.
But I wouldn’t say that Hughie’s a bigger star than Wilder. No way, lol
So povetkin is going to risk his mandatory WBA spot and stupid AJ money to fight dillian whyte.. who is either going to fight ortiz as a final eliminator for the WBC, or Pulev for mandatory in the IBF?
Yeah, it doesn’t make sense for him to risk that. Whyte went down the WBC route which hasn’t proved to be great other than chalk up a better resume.
The IBF don’t mess around with mandatories, if you’re the mandatory you get a shot or they’ll strip that title ASAP. That’s probably why he’s gonna right Pulev in that final eliminator.
He’s been impressive, but lately on Boxingscene people are hailing him as some kind of God. People need to calm down. Until he beats a Spence/Thurman/Garcia at this level, and convincingly there’s no need to get too excited.
Is Errol Spence Jr. Clean cut kid no outside the ring problems,
has NOT ducked any fighter because they "run" or fight in a
"boring" style, and is the most sincere boxer to date!
Getting suspended because you are a POS and cheated
the sport NOT this kid!
MOST AMERICANS can relate to him! All around good kid!
We struck gold with this one ladies and Gentlemen.
I think you may just be right.
fighting Povetkin was a dangerous fight. AJ watched Povetkin fight Price and thought to himself "yes, now's good."
Povetkin will be 39 in September for christ sake. But AJ's fans will ignore that and say Ortiz is 70.
The difference is, I’m not an AJ fan, and Povetkin knocked David Price out COLD. Had it gone 12 rounds then maybe I’d be more inclined to agree. But Price got decimated in there so I still think regardless of his age, he’s still a dangerous fighter..
Wilder knocked Ortiz out which was impressive. And if Joshua does the same with Povetkin then again it’ll be impressive. So that sets up the showdown at the end of the year. If the Joshua VS Wilder fight doesn’t get made at the end of the year after the Povetkin fight I may be forced to change my opinion on it, but I think there’s plenty of time for the fight to be made, so until then can we really judge it?
