Eddie Hearn has posted today on his instagram, of a very successful meeting with Ryabinskiy, Povetkins man.
Whilst i would like to look at this as an insurance policy only for if negotiations with Haymon do not result on the Wilder fight being next, i have a strong feeling we can wave goodbye to wilder vs AJ next.
Very disappointing, and not a good image for AJ or Hearn if that's the case considering he has stated that negotiations were ongoing and proving positive.
Lets not forget AJ did an interview the other day where he stated that most of it was all OK and agreed with only small details to iron out.
Thoughts?
That's a decent fight. I never expected to see Wilder vs AJ anyway. Both of them are content to just keep their title and not fight. Both sides want everything their way and neither side will budge an inch.

I got 4/1 on Povetkin to be next as well... 💷💷
It was always gonna be Povetkin.
New IFL Hearn interview saying Wilder is still priority. Joshua deciding on where he wants to fight. If its in the US itll be in Nov/Dec. Says he got answers from Haymon over their offer, and wasnt any unworkable problems. One issue I did notice is DAZN have first and last offer for all UK PPVs now.
Tough fight for Joshua, Povetkin certainly has the potential of derailing the Wilder/Joshua fight..as do most potential matches talked about for Wilder unfortunately.
I know I'll be nervously rooting for both to stay undefeated.
A meeting is sometimes just a meeting
No one here was in the room/on the call, so who knows what was worked on.
Hearn could've convinced Povetkin's promoter to not push for the purse bid, in exchange for something (if Wilder-Joshua does end up happening in the US, having Povetkin-Whyte headline from O2 as a split-site thing, would add money to the pot for everyone; Showtime/CBS could use some of the UK footage to help with the hard sell of the PPV in the US, while Sky Sports can use the undercard stuff of Wilder-Joshua to bridge things over after the end of the live fights in the UK).
I still think that they will take a fight before they meet.
Pove is AJ's mando and it is a dangerous fight if Povetkin is anywhere near his peek.
I rather AJ and Wilder fight next but looks like they want to make this as big as they can and rightfully so.
PEDvetkin by brutal stone cold knockout, AJ ain't leaving the ring with them belts!
The Russians are promising that, that's for damn sure!
So good luck to Eddie's insurance!
I wouldn't call anyone a coward for taking on Povetkin. Especially after that brutal knockout of Price.
Even at his old age he is a force to be reckoned with and a risk for Joshua. It'll be his highest level opponent other than Wlad.
Agreed real talk.
As expected. Povetkin is a tough fight for anyone and will be a good test for AJ. Let's not forget he was Wilder's biggest challenge about a year ago. Not like he has slipped much since then. Povetkin is still legitimately a top5 HW, about on the level of Luis Ortiz.
So povetkin is going to risk his mandatory WBA spot and stupid AJ money to fight dillian whyte.. who is either going to fight ortiz as a final eliminator for the WBC, or Pulev for mandatory in the IBF?
Yeah, it doesn’t make sense for him to risk that. Whyte went down the WBC route which hasn’t proved to be great other than chalk up a better resume.
The IBF don’t mess around with mandatories, if you’re the mandatory you get a shot or they’ll strip you off that title ASAP. That’s probably why he’s gonna right Pulev in that final eliminator.
The purse bid got delayed last week as Pulev werent willing to move from the 75/25 purse split. Could be theyre going Povetkin instead, Joshua seemed pretty sure Wilder is happening next.

Povetkin is also in the list for Whytes next fight
