Man every week I change my mind on this, when it was announced I was gonna lay down some money on a Canelo KO, but last week something just hit me and I had this epiphany that it was Cotto's fight. Now I'm back with Canelo again.
I like both fighters. Both earned their respect. Cotto is a boxing legend, Canelo is on his way.
However, I do think a Canelo victory would be better for boxing. He'd cement superstar status. Golden Boy would continue to promote high level, competitive events. Plus, out of the two, I do think Canelo is more likely to face Golovkin, I won't assume for certain, but all evidence indicates Cotto wants no part of Golovkin.
Make sure you all vote for Tyson Fury to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
1.) Support boxing
2.) Spite the BBC's anti-boxing/Fury agenda

I got Roman Gonzalez as #1 P4P as of today. It's close though, I'm not saying that with much conviction.
Ultimately consensus P4P king won't just be decided on talent though, it'll go with whoever the spotlight craves the most.
My favourite Floyd Mayweather memories.
- Walking out vs. De La Hoya wearing the sombrero
- The intensity of the Cotto weigh-in staredown
- Foreshadowing the Ortiz fight, 'If you make any mistakes, you have to pay'
- Bullying Robert Guerrero at that promo shoot
- Check left hook vs. Hatton
- Toying with Amir Khan's emotional stability
I'm still mixed on what I think about Mayweather's legacy, but some of it was fun and I can't ignore that I got to witness true greatness.
It depends how he hypothetically beats them.
I think you would make the case for him easily being top 5 at that point if we're assuming the rest of the boxing world remained frozen in time as is now.
Cotto vs. Canelo.
It's got all the ingredients to be a throughly entertaining and unpredictable fight. Canelo may be the biggest name in the sport from this point forward for a long time, if he wins I'd want to see that history being made.
Klitschko vs. Fury is a great fight but some of Wladimir's fights can be damn near unwatchable, and I also have Klitschko as a heavy favourite.
Floyd's numbers for the Berto fight are impressive, not disappointing. 389K for a complete mismatch with next to nothing promotion wise? That's incredible.
Honestly that's a huge testament to Mayweather's popularity (or infamy).
No.
I can imagine a scenario where Khan beats a Top 5 Welterweight fighter, but I can also imagine one where he loses to a guy barely in the Top 15 Welterweights.
I sort of want to see Keith Thurman lose. Not because I hate the guy, but because I know I'm right when saying that he isn't as good as people claim he is.
I'm gonna make some money off his first loss.
That time again where we argue over which fighter is doing better with their bank accounts than in a boxing ring.
Damn this sport needs some kind of parent organisation or mediator soon.
Because there's a big W next to the names of Carl Froch, Chad Dawson, Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham etc. and a big Super Six trophy above the fireplace.
And there's no indication the skills that brought those rewards have faded.
This time next year seems like a semi-realistic proposition but only if Ward goes through his 'tune-ups' at a steady pace.
The Smith fight was in mid-June, and I figure he'll take a couple more fights before anything big. If I had to put money on it, early 2017 is your best bet.
And **** man at some point if GGG is 35+ & catches an L does it even mean anything anymore? It certainly means a lot less & idk if you can derail a hype train when a guys been KOing all mfers for 8yrs or w/e.
You got this point exactly right. At what point is Golovkin a 'success'? If he does unify the Middleweight division, or goes down in people's minds as a undisputed Middleweight champion, is that not a mission accomplished?
The thing is, Lemiuex was THE guy who was in prime position to derail the hype train, he came in at the right time, had the attributes, didn't happen. Maybe that ship has sailed.
Andy Lee no way .. What do you think about Quillen or Jacobs against GGG ?
Bad, bad match-ups. Jacobs has a really suspect chin, he gets blown out fast. I like Quillin's skill set but I don't think it's enough, I think that would mirror the Monroe Jr. fight.
I agree with you, I think Froch, as well as Ward, are the only two fighters that could derail GGG. However Ward is now at LHW, Froch is a semi-realistic bout...I do think Golovkin cleans out everyone at Middleweight right now though.
Not saying I agree (I have Klitschko at #2, Kovalev at #4, Golovkin at #5), but some people do P4P lists with more of a 'what have you done for me lately' kind of attitude.
Passing the eye-test means more to some people, although most people who aren't coaches/heavily invested in the sport got a hell of a lot of faith in themselves to make that kind of analysis.
I'm far from a Quillin fan and I'll get on his case repeatedly for a variety of reasons but I'll give him his dues in that he doesn't hide away from criticism, when he's posted on here he's stood up for himself well.
Joshua is going to be a huge draw. In fact I'd argue he already is. Out of all the boxers I've heard name-dropped in casual conversation, by casuals, here in the UK, Joshua tops the list.
I think he's a decent guy, does a lot of things the right way, but I warn you in advance his growing fanbase will be unbearable at certain points. He'll catch some flak by association.
i wish Angel Garcia was my uncle or something.
I don't root for either guy but I hope Swift wins so a better fight can be set up in summer (false hope maybe).
You know, it's not so much the loss that's affecting my perception of him.
It's the fact he padded the ring with foam and wrapped his hands without anyone watching.
That's some seriously shady business, I'm convinced Klitschko's team tried to cheat, and have cheated in the past.
