Former world heavyweight champion David Haye will announce on Tuesday he is to return to the ring after an absence of more than three years.
Haye, who has not fought since he stopped fellow Briton Dereck Chisora in 2012, is to hold a news conference at London's O2 Arena at which his next opponent will also be present.
The 35-year-old has been training with Shane McGuigan - son of former world champion Barry - and has indicated he wants to reclaim the world title he lost to Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.
Legendary former world heavyweight champion George Foreman believes Haye could be the only person who can take the belt from Ukrainian Klitschko.
Londoner Haye tweeted: "You sure know your stuff George Foreman and you'll be happy to know I'll be back to regain the heavyweight crown #HayemakerIsBack."
Klitschko, 39, is preparing to fight another Briton, Tyson Fury, in Germany on Saturday. He has not lost a fight since 2004.
Former two-weight world champion Haye - who has won 26 of his 28 bouts - says he has had offers to fight Liverpool cruiserweight Tony Bellew, Irishman Martin Rogan, American Malik Scott and Mark de Mori of Australia.

Who do you think it will be?
Are you saying that Delmori is not fleet footed enough to be considered fleet footed? :fingersx:
That's exactly what I'm saying - glad someone here is paying attention...:soapbox:
I think I'm more agile than De Mori. His footwork and mobility are pretty piss poor

Groves headlining on 30th Jan.
ahh must have missed that one, i did hear Hearn mention the 16th for something.
Well then, Haye must be confident he can shift enough tickets himself.
I wonder who will be showing it on TV.
I'm expecting it as a co-promotion with Matchroom, i'm actually thinking Haye will be doing down this route.
The reason i think that is because i'm sure i saw Hearn say Groves will be back on January 16th...obviously Groves and Haye are good friends so they might share the same bill. If Hearn gets Groves a half decent opponent and a few other decent undercard fights then people will tune in or get tickets.
Haye is still a big name and people know him who don't even follow boxing. He'll probably sell tickets to people who don't even know if his opponent is good or bad.

He's just a big stiff idiot.
He might punch hard ish, but that's about it.
Is he headlining the card at the o2? If so, wow, this will bomb.

That marko monk guy is absolutely horrendous.
Look at this fight:

Holy hell he's awful. The guy he was fighting was 2-0 and looked to have better skills. :lol1:

That accusation gets thrown around any time a fight gets canceled.
You believe the injury to Haye was genuine ? I thought it suspect it was cancelled twice, I honestly feel Haye wasn't to make what the guarantees he was expecting and took the fall, now we're seeing him make a comeback right when Joshua is making his ppv debut, it all adds up. Joshua is an official Sky/Matchroom project Fury was he ever really that well known in the UK around the time of the Haye build up. I think this is why we were seeing Batman pranks etc, to really put himself on the map, nothing to do with psyching an opponent out just giving himself an image and a brand, one he clearly failed to establish fighting on channel 5 which really is not at all a very popular outlet for sports let alone boxing.
If Fury had been handled by Hearn from the beginning I expect he would have fought for a world title long since and not had to suffer the indignity and psychological humiliation from the Cunningham fight. After his Johnson fight they'd have likely billed him as a superstar on ppv as the are right now with Joshua.
Wasn't their rumours circulating Haye vs Fury pre sales were low and possible reasons it never came to fruition.

Povetkin juicing? Well Russian labs' rep has been under scrutiny lately . . . .
You seriously think Haye has never juiced?!
Why would I think Haye is on the juice? The guy has been a power puncher with explosive speed and sharp reflexes the entirety of his career, from cruiser to heavy.
Povetkin has not.
Shock me, when was he at his best ? This I am in suspense waiting for, whilst you are in your suspenders applying your lip gloss.
So you do not want Haye to gather momentum leading towards a potential blockbuster ? Are you that insecure and worried Haye would defeat your new British poster boy and potential opponent to finally dethrone Darth Steelhammer ?
I sense butthurt.
You seem to think I think Harrison was ever any good :lol1: This is a reflection of how absolutely awful this monk guy is. The fact that you're trying to say this guy is better than a former Olympic gold medalist and european champion as well as a former 2 time world champion shows how little you know about boxing :lol1:
Lol wtf. You honestly have a screw loose I think. Where do you get this stuff from? :lol1:
The guy he's fighting is horrible. No two ways about it. But he's entitled to fight who he wants to fight as he's been out for so long.
Is he headlining the card at the o2? If so, wow, this will bomb.

I don't think you've ever seen the guy fight.
Audley Harrison at anywhere near his best would absolutely wipe the floor with this guy with no problems at all.

Of course Haye vs Joshua would be PPV.
It would be the biggest heavyweight clash in Britain for decades.

De Mori is ranked 10th in the WBA, it's a signal and statement of intent IMO. Now I am no fan of Haye but he hasn't fought in three and a half years, it really is not a bad come back fight. If he selected De Mori after a ring rust shaker I would have issue as I did with his Barrett, Ruiz and Audley run.
I don't understand the issue with it, he beats him by big KO and he's ranked in the top ten of the WBA immediately, then he has to face a live dog, hell he could be facing Joshua or Teper after that. Let the man have a warm up ffs no ?
I can't say I'm overly receptive to the idea of Haye just gate crashing in after all this time but he's playing the game and system and why shouldn't he, if his shoulder is good and he's ready to go he's an addition to the division. Certainly a top ten guy in its current state if he still has his best attributes, speed and power.
I would like to see Joshua vs Haye, if Haye vs Fury was ppv I'm certain this would be, likely the reason he is back, we get to find out if Joshua is the real deal or he is just another over rated, china chinned bum like Price was. I honestly think the only ones disliking this Haye return are shyttin theirselves Haye is gonna burst the Joshua bubble, desperately clinging to Joshua as the man to defeat the villainous Klitschko who has caused them so much heart ache and butt sores over the last decade.

'Harrison would ice him in a round' yeh sure.
And in other news, Elvis has announced his comeback tour from a subterranean motel on the dark side of the moon.

I had low expectations, already, but this guy is a joke. The doorman at my local boozer would put up a better fight.
Heck, Haye probably has better sparring partners.
Who is promoting the fight? I am yet to see footage of the presser.
My expectations were also relatively low, I'm just not all that concerned about about him fighting a top ten guy after three years out. As it is I feel it's a good comeback opponent to look good against and get yourself momentum for a potential ppv vs the hunk of British boxing right now, AJ.

Decent comeback fight, who would you prefer he face someone one the level of Harrison, Ruiz or Chisora. ? All three are useless at least this 'Marko Monk' guy looks after himself even if his talents are lacking.
Haye has always been selective whom he faces, it isn't an exciting match up but if he fights a live dog next I'll be happy with whoever he fights next, is it really any worse than who Fury and Wilder have faced to date with the exception of Stiverne. The answer is a conclusive no.

how was he prizefighter level when he won it twice + was European champion?
Lol, this guy would seriously get iced by Harrison in one round. :lol1:
He's a clubfighter.
