It was an awesome fight. Hussein let himself down by getting into a war with Acre but he won himself a lot of fans and should get another pay day in the U.S for his preformance.
FOTY so far!!!
I wouldn't mind seeing Brewster knocking out a 7 foot neanthedral. They should fight in the U.S though, Brewster has already fought in Germany, and Valuev could get some exposure in the U.S. He's more or less a freak show who can box a little.
I learnt a lot about Kessler when he came out to Sydney to face my boy, Mundine.
I've seen his recent fights with Cesar Green, Siaca, Mundine, Lucas, and a couple of earlier fights. The guy is one of the best talents to come out of Europe for quite some time. He's big, he's strong, he's quick, and he boxes very well.
I believe that Calzaghe is on the slide and Kessler would beat him, but I think it's more of a toss-up between Lacy and Kessler. It's hard to predict because they both haven't faced anyone like each other. It's a fight that should be made with both at their physical peaks, guaranteed fireworks.
Yea...I've been looking at the Super-Middle rankings and there aren't too many notable American names. It's a division that hasn't had much limelight, but I believe it's all about to change.
The thing is Kessler is still only 26 and is younger than both Lacy and Taylor. I've been re-watching some Kessler, Lacy fights and for me now, I'd favour Kessler over anyone in the division. Lucian Bute, the much touted prospect is only a year younger than Kessler. The division is loaded with talent atm from fighters all around the world. You have contenders like Froch, and Andrade, throw in a couple of Aussies, Mundine & Green, then you got the old timers, Calzaghe & Beyer. Not bad at all.
This was on another website from his one of his Asutralian trainers;
He's just turned 12 and still 35kg lets hope he makes 105lb! he's also a black belt in karate and can do backflips and all! extremely gifted athalete! infact were trying to get him into posibly a jackie chan film!
He may not end up becoming a World Champ or anything. But talent wise it is pretty freakish for such a young kid.
I'm not sure about today's Oscar, but a prime Oscar would have been too big and strong. No way does Mayweather ever stop Oscar though, Oscar is a very smart fighter and he still knows how to win rounds.
Oscar will get past Mayorga fairly easily IMO.
Roy Jones beaten 2 ATG's in Hopkins and Toney.
While Mayweather beaten a big of a name as those 2, he has beaten a host of good/very good opponents as mentioned.
People had been calling Jones a fraud even before his KO loss, and I'm sure Mayweather has his doubters as he hasn't faced top notch opponent for quite some time. I think Mayweather will about on par with Jones if he was to get knocked out tomorrow. But the guy still has time on his side to see how truly great he really is.
Margarito is a very good banger, could well lay claim to being the #1 welter right now. I don't think any of the big names would be too interested in that fight though.
I always thought that Mayweather would make easy work of Judah. You know, it would have been great to have Judahs' name on his resume, But Zab screwed that up now.
He has had less than impressive showings in the past, he's inconsistent and he's mentally weak. Anything can happen though, Mayweather himself is far from unbeatable but the thing is he shows up for every fight.
Roy was in great shape in his last fight, he's still got his quickness, speed and reflexes. As others have mentioned though he definitely was gun shy, and mentally he doesn't have anywhere near the confidence he once had.
That said, Hopkins these days don't have the power punch, and certainly not the work rate. It should still be an intersting fight, how well can Hopkins do fighting at 175 for the 1st time in over 15 years, how would his 40 year old body handle that. Will Roy let his hands go?, knowing Hopkins doesn't have the same punch as a Tarver.
I'll probably be rooting for Hopkins, and I give him the slight edge as well.
Mayweather is definitely the better fighter. Mentally, it's not even close.
It's too bad Baldy has already done the job because a win over Judah would have looked nice on Mayweathers' record.
I'm definitely fine with it. Everyone including Floyd was looking forward to the Zab fight but shit happens, and Baldomir is the legit champ at 147 now.
What is a load of crap?
I understand that Mundine, Green have been feasting too much on overmatched opponents. I wasn't expecting much tonight but it was suprisingly entertaining night with all the commotion and outside happenings.
Also, both guys do have a lot of talent and are rated 5 and 6 in the ring rankings. It should be a good fight when they finally step into the ring is should be good to watch. The lead-up to big fights can be just as fun if not more so than the fight itself.
Haven't seen the fight but Soliman was gettin a lot of disrespect before the fight and the guy is definitely good for boxing. Not sure why everyone felt the need to put him down.
I got to say Roy Jones. People were rating him up to the standards of Sugar Ray Robinson but now they probably wouldn't dare.
Hopkins' losses hurt him too but many including myself thought he won those fights so it doesn't affect him too much in my books.
Yea..He's fighting this weekend as the main event in Danny Greens home town =].
Green is playing 2nd fiddle.
The sad thing is that they're both fighting chumps and we're stuck with that but I'm much more interested in the Winky-Soliman matchup, sadly it won't be televised here though.
The title he won previously became legitimate when Ottke retired, Mundine definitely wanted to face Ottke again though. Mundine still believes he can rule the division.
Yea...that was some crazy ass mayhem.
Let's not forget both are world class fighters and Mundine in particular has done a great job of selling this fight. While, Green has been the anti-Mundine, the saviour for all the Mundine haters. There's definitely some bitterness between the 2.
But man, this guy Mundine oozes talent, in terms of raw talent he's up there Judahs, Jones Jrs and Mayweathers. It's too bad he started so late though.
Couldn't find it but here's the final stats
Punchstats

Hopkins
