Now don't get me wrong, I don't want to see Floyd lose, as he is one of my favorite prize fighters. But my question is, if Floyd got KOed tommorow, would you take away his whole career liked you did Roy Jones Jr.? Roy was being talked about like a god before he lost to Antonio Tarver, but when he lost, people called him a fraud. Before you guys answer no, really think about this question. I have weird suspicion that this is how it works with 90% of boxing fans. No matter who you are, or what you have done, YOUR ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST FIGHT. What do you think your reaction would be? Be honest... :D
RJJ is great but I dont think that he is as great as he could have been. I feel that taking hard fights, even if you lose them, makes you greater than winning easy fights. You then chase the rematch and win that like Sugar Ray Robinson did. You prove your heart, your will and your skill. Roy Jones only really started doing that at the end of his career
So tell me bozo where does Roy Jones Jr. rank with the greats?
If Bert Sugar, a boxing historian, says Roy Jones Jr. is great...why should I believe Gavilan 1 that says he isn't?
Bozo_no_no- What can I say? We haven't liked each other for a little bit (in fact we are off and on), but we have to say we have had great fcking debates here. While we disagree on ALMOST anything, you, and even I cannot say that we have been wrong sometimes. You are a fcking walking encyclopedia. You know FACT after FACT after FACT, it get's unreal. Cheers buddy.
The rest of you I couldn't give an arse about. You have most likely pissed me off because of your intelligence (or lack of), or you have done nothing to piss me off but your need for points, and karma has overrun everything you have tried to gain on this forum.
Also, I applaud a bunch of you ( you know who you are) for no-hate but friendly banter, and just trying to soak all the knowledge in but the lot of you are are just plain ignorant. It upsets me that an active forum has to be crap like this.
You FLAKE.
:p
Actually fine, you caught me. I was going to go into stitches of laughter once I read your hogwash.
You think that's funny, check this out:

One of the greatest middleweights of all time huh?
Would you like to quote where you're insinuating I said that?
I really like this whole 'make up something and say I said it' thing you've got going.
It really takes away from the fact you're a flake that made a big dramatic exit only to come back trolling with a new account name.
Jones is a 'Fraud' huh?
Bozo, I envy you and pity you simultaneously. Envy, as you've obviously got a more carefree life than I could ever hope to lead. Pity, as - frankly - what is the point of your insult over the internet? Step into the real world, and normal people don't act the way you do.
I don't need to bash a bunch of teenagers to get my jolly's here.
You're a really sad individual.
Need I remind you of your sensative "No need for insults" beef, which you followed up with flaming and swearing in several different discussions in several different threads?
There's no time for losers like you who make big dramatic goodbye threads about how they're leaving, only to return trolling under a new name. That shows some serious personality problems.
How many names do you need to come trolling back around here?
You're a loser, and you were never capeable of backing up what you said.
This thread is just another example. Calling Jones a 'fraud' goes nicely with all your Mayweather hating from your old account.
The funny part is, you're wasting your own time more so than anyone elses.
I've won the argument.
The one about you not coming back to this site after being banned?
Hiding under a new account name spouting biased spitefull non sense you can't back up reminds me of your good old days. :D
He fought 16 champs? I thought He fought 35? Get your facts straight, kiddo.
16 former or current. Where do you get 35 from? Go ahead and quote, we wouldn't want to give the impression you're spouting more non sense trying to take away from the exposure you've suffered here...
i don't know why I'm arguing with you anyways. Your opinion means nothing and you have proven that you don't know much :)
This coming from the guy who's praised me on several occasions before giving the ever dramatic "I'm never coming back speech".
You were always an idiot Tu, and you could never back up what you say.
You have an outright hate for Jones Jr and Mayweather. That's like a basketball fan hating Jordan and Labron.
You're a waste.
Stop hiding under a new name and go back to the rock from which you crawled out of.
Where are your arguments?
"RJJ is an assured hall of famer".
What about him dodging all of the big fights? You're a delusional and spitefull troll who has nothing better do then hate because of your spite.
My argument is that you called him a fraud, when in reality he's one of the best of his generation, and all time great, and an assured Hall of Famer.
That would make my argumnet "You're an idiot".
That slowed down enough for you ace?
16 current or former champions? I thought it was 35?
And yes, my "hate" stems from spite. Am I the only one who thinks you're a total dweeb? Maybe instead of arguing with little kids all day, you should actually read about the sport. It will do you some good.
Will it teach me to call great Hall of Fame fighters 'frauds' based on biased spite?
Maybe someday I can be as jaded and ignorant as you are.
For the third time, you pasing off one of YOUR judgments as FACT clearly illustrates how much of a dweeb you are. You call yourself a boxing fan when you can't even critically look at a fighter.
Roy Jones Jr. had behind him, for essentially his entire career, perhaps the largest media and entertainment company on the planet! Jones fought who he wanted, when he wanted, and for the price He wanted. Are you that thick that you can't get that through your skull?
4th time:
No matter how you want to spin it, RJJ was one of the best of his generation, an all time great, and an assured hall of famer.
Your spitefull and angry denial of this shows you to be the only one who's "to think to get it throught your skull"
You calling a great fighter a fraud makes you a deluded and spitefull idiot.
Again, just the brand of idiot I was referring to earlier in the thread.
:D
Roy Jones NEVER went out of his way to seek out challenging competition. He created artificial challenges through bogus stunts: playing pro basketball the day of a fight. Knocking guys out with this hands behind his back. Singing (actually lip syncing) a rap song during his entrance into the ring.
He needed to create challenges through ring competition. And it seemed like whatever weightclass Roy was in, when competition seemed to get close, he bailed out and moved up in weight.
What if Roy fought Collins, Liles, Nunn, Benn, Eubank, Mclellan, Michalzewskis?
You only continue to illustrate that your delusional bias stems from spite.
Roy won titles at 160 168 175 and Heavyweight, beating 16 current or former champions in the process.
No matter how angry it makes you, he was one of the greatest fighters of this generation, an all time great, and an assured hall of famer.
Flame up some more hate. See if it makes the spite you're spewing anymore accurate.
When you have no argument, just resort to name calling.
One last thing: I rewatched the second Tarver fight, and up until the KO, Roy looked the same as ever. He won the first round easily and looked good until he got caught. I really think this loss was more a case of hubris and lack of proper boxing fundamentals than that Roy is shot.
Just another product of media hype. Truth hurts don't it Boozo.
You're a spitefull excuse for a boxing fan who gets off on calling one of the greatest fighters of the last generation a fraud.
The best part is you obviously know how full of shit and spitefull you are, yet you waste your own time spewing non sense.
3rd time:
No matter how you want to spin it, RJJ was one of the best of his generation, an all time great, and an assured hall of famer.
I'll spell it out for you: FRAUD.
Wrong.
No matter how you want to spin it, RJJ was one of the best of his generation, an all time great, and an assured hall of famer.
You suggesting otherwise shows either what a biased and spitefull person you are, or that you're an outright idiot.
Roy Jones the fighter of the generation? What about Pernell Whitaker? What about Oscar DelaHoya?
You're a naive young man. It's a shame.
You're a bitter and hatefull person. Your biased drivel is a joke.
Nice job of summing up his career. Wins over other legends like Toney and Hopkins certianly help your "fraud" case.
And I said he was "One of" the best fighters of his generation.
Certianly higher than Oscar.
Your take is biased and outright delusional.
Again, when I refered to the "idiots that aren't worth talking to" earlier in the thread, that was morons like you.
Thanks for coming out. The contrast works nicely.
I really expected more from you Bozo. Why does Roy differ from Leonard, Ali, etc. Maybe because Roy's tragic fall is something that would NOT happen to an elite fighter.
When Roy faced adversity, he folded. I don't care how you spin it in your favour. All of the GREAT fighters found a way to win, found a way to adjust. All of the greats dug deep, bit down on their mouthpiece and stuck it out.
Tell me one thing Bozo (very fitting name by the way), Did Roy avenge any of his losses with the exception of Griffin (if you can call that a loss)? The years of fighting cops, and construction workers caught up to him. He is nothing but a hypocrite, a fraud, and a complete package of HBO.
You're one of the idiots I spoke of earlier.
Roy dominated through out his prime, winning titles from 160 to Heavyweight. He beat 16 current or former world champions, and didn't lose until he was 35.
He lost a fight. It happens. It took him growing old and killing himself to make Lt Heavy again to make that happen.
You're just another jack ass who never liked Jones and takes the losses that came at the end of his career to spout your hatefull agenda.
No matter how you want to spin it, RJJ was one of the best of his generation, an all time great, and an assured hall of famer.
It doesn't matter. A great fighter is a great fighter.
The obsession today with undefeated records is silly. Great fighters lose fights. They always have.
I could not agree more.
Jones defeated Tarver in the first fight, so the weight loss argument may have less validity than you claim.
He was in the Sauna for 6 hours the day before the fight, and looked obviously off in the fight itslef.
What Bloodshed is doing here is using this (like he uses any mention of Roy) to spout hate.
Jones lost to Tarver in their Rematch, and he speaks like that some how writes off his entire career.
If Mayweather makes it undefeated to 35, I'm sure there would be a small portion of fans to talk about how he's finally been "exposed".
Tarver deserves some credit for the wins in the 2nd and 3rd fights, but anyone who implys that was Jones at his best, or speaks exclusivly about those losses like that should overshadow what he did in the decade before that, has a hatefull agenda.
I'm sure when Floyd finally loses, there will be the same small fraction of people who are looking to vent some hate.
It doesn't matter. A great fighter is a great fighter.
The obsession today with undefeated records is silly. Great fighters lose fights. They always have.
