Just had a big discussion about this in my Sports Management class. Andrade is a local fighter around here, in Massachsetts, and 50% of my class and teacher live in Rhode Island where Andrade is from.
He is fighting a man named Pat Cape who is 4-2 (2KOs). Andrade is a 6'1 welterweight and he can box and punch. He has a lot of potenetial and im glad he wasted no time turning pro.
I see Andrade winning by 1st round TKO tonight.
And the fight is going to be televised on VERSUS tonight at 8:00 ET so watch it!
He's defintely a fighter to watch.....He was robbed in the Olympics if you ask me. I'm a fan of Keith Thurman whom Andrade defeated in the Olympic trials. Thurman is undefeated since turning pro about a year ago....all 1st round KOs too. Both guys are the future of the WW to MW ranks a few years from now.
I'm a huge Miranda fan but also a real boxing fan and have to tell it like it is.....Kessler would stop Miranda in the middle rounds but I'd still like to see them fight someday.
No matter what it should be declared a No Decision or No Contest but especially if everything he's saying about his eye is true than I forgive him for saying he didn't want to continue. But no matter the handling by the Ref was wrong and this bout should be a ND/NC. It will get overturned just like Toneys TKO over Rahman in their 2nd fight was.
I've always liked Vernon.....In fact I was cheering for him when he beat Mosley twice....I didn't think he'd win before the 1st fight but I was cheering for him. He was a great boxer and even greater person....R.I.P. Viper!
RJ gon beat that ass...and I'll be there. :alcoholic :boxing:
I know, I was really hoping to attend with you fellas but it's just not possible with my schedule right now......I know it's going to be a blast.
....I love you man, but what a shitbag of a fight. I may not even watch this one if it was free. Well, of course I would watch, but you know what I mean. The fact that they can get anyone to buy this garbage is the really shocking part. Roy is absolute shit now and it appears that Lacy was always overrated. He got abused in the Taylor fight and it wasn't even close. The same Taylor who has been starched and bullied by everyone else he has been in the ring with lately. Lacy is nowhere near a top tier fighter and neither is Roy. Still, Roy has enough left to deal with Lacy easily.
Thats my boy.....lol Well hell we can't all be Wlad fans and be lucky to have our favorite fighter crush everyone he fights.....
For the record I have to say I'm more passionate about Dawson and Berto now than I am Lacy which gives me exciting favorite fighters to watch......
Bah... don't knock yourself, beats being a 'fair weather fan'.
Lacy has a good chance against RJJ. After that, who knows? There is a quality selection of SMWs who might move up but Dawson and B-Hop aside the LHW division is less than impressive at the moment. And apart from Dawson, Lacy must be the youngest fighter in the top ten (B-Hop, RJJ, Woods, Tarver, Johnson... it's a fr*gging OAP club).
Absolutely......And boy are there alot of them lurking in these woods.
I'm a fan of both fighters and wish them both the best! I'm going with Campbell and his experience to win this fight though.....Tough pick em fight tho thats forsure.....
I don't feel he's any of those things.....he's just a once good fighter who is past his prime and can't compete with the top guys. There was a time when I feel he was the best 140-147 pound fighter the UK had to offer. I feel 3-5 years ago he would've schooled Hatton.....Hell his only loss for a long time was against a Prime Zab Judah.
Hmmm Dawson is bigger, stronger, faster, more polished and the next coming of Jesus Christ.....Did I mention he's also a Southpaw? Dawson is certainly a more legitimate threat to anyone from 160-175 than Pavlik is.
The fight with Hatton was closer IMO. It really should have been a draw. While the fight with Berto was certainly close I don't see a legit case that he won or deserved a draw.....It was just a close fight but clearly one that Berto won.
neither quit like a coward.....I'd like to see your bitch ass get in there and take that kind of punishment. Both corners threw in the towels too if I remember correctly......I don't remember either fighter actually quitting.
This topic has actually been done before. But, I think it's interesting. Just fun, there's always new fighters popping up.
Who do you guys WANT to lose and why?
Discuss.
Floyd.....By brutal KO. Just to hear if it's possible for him to be humble.
When Lennox was KOed by Rahman I cried. I was depressed after that. It was such a big suprise and it hurt. But revenge was sweet.....
I was also very sad after Calzaghe pummeled Lacy but I wasn't as shell shocked be cause I knew it was a good possibility Calzaghe would beat him.....Just didn't think it would be so badly.
No neither will go down as alltime greats but they will defintely be remember for an alltime great fight.....both should be HOF though IMO....just not remembered as ATG.
I don't think he should retire. I think he should step up and fight the man nobody wants to fight....especially twice, and beat Glen Johnson which I'm quite confident he can. After that it would set up a huge showdown with one of my favs the undefeated Chad Dawson. **** names and shit lets get the good fights on rather than just the good name fights. I also think as long as he doesn't lose another step by the time it happens he will wear Dawson down with his in and out style and win a UD.I hate to say that tho.....but Calzaghe is simply so good I can't see how anyone can beat him when he's at his best.
hopkins, tarver, toney, ruiz > holyfield, jirov, barkley, mccallum
Well Toney beat Ruiz too (steriods aside and it woulda went down the same way either way) but he also fought Rahman and Peter twice. And Roy himself as you put Toney as one of Roys top opponents. I think clearly Toney has fought more top fighters and not to mention as another poster stated took far more chances.
Collazo is a very good fighter and this is a good test to see where Berto is at.....I'm of course rooting for Berto but it should be an interesting match up. I'm going with Berto by UD.
I feel as tho Toney has fought more top fighters in a wider variety of weight classes so based on that I think he has a better, longer resume than Roy but Roy obviously had the more successful career overall.
toney has one of the worst resumes in boxing, this is an embaressing thread and a disgrace to roy jones jr.
toney p4p best bum beater.
I'm shocked by this post and the results of the poll to be perfectly frank. :stupid:
I cant beleive Roy even has one vote, that is just retarded.
Toney notable wins
Michael Nunn
Reggie Johnson (prime)
Mike McCallum (prime)
Doug DeWitt
Iran Barkley
Tim Littles
Vassiliy Jirov x2
Evander Holyfield
John Ruiz (Toney whipped him, i dont care what the tests said)
Hasim Rahman (He quit, **** what the no contest says)
Jones notable wins
Bernard Hopkins
James Toney
Virgil Hill
John Ruiz
Antonio Tarver
I have to agree. I mean Roy will be remembered as the more successful of the two but obviously Toney fought more credible opponents.
