Neither Pavlik nor Dawson have a sparkling record but that's not a big issue since neither has been around the world title seen for more than a few years however the standout name from both their records is Jermain Taylor. Glen Johnson's name carries some weight however I don't think Dawson won that fight and I consider that loss more damaging than one to Bernard Hopkins.
Also, I believe Pavlik has a better chance of beating Calzaghe. I can't see Joe losing on the scorecards which makes the alternative a KO victory and as Pavlik is the bigger puncher he has the better chance.
Finally, a fight between Calzaghe and Pavlik will make more money.
Gimme a break.. You just want Joe Cal to fight Pavlik because you know he is easier to beat than Dawson.. Shame on you for trying to put Dawson down..
I don't really care who or if Calzaghe fights again. I have no interest in putting Dawson down, I think he is grossly overrated - a bit like Pavlik was before losing to Hopkins, but my main concern is looking at the whole package and considering which fight is more legitimate.
Exactly, Dawsons resume is better than Pavliks.
Saying Taylor tops all that, is just laughable.
The only other significant win of Pavliks for me, is Miranda. He took some good shots from him needlessly, and AA beat him with a broken jaw, and then much quicker than Kelly did taking far less punches.
Actually, what I said is that Taylor is the best man either of them have faced. If you want to make a case for Harding, Tarver, Johnson or Adamek being better then go ahead.
This might sound like a bit of a contradiction however just because I believe Pavlik has the better chance does not necessarily mean I think their fight would be closer. I can well imagine Calzaghe winning wider on the cards against The Ghost than Bad Chad however the only way I see either of them beating Calzaghe is by KO and I feel Pavlik is better equipped to do that.
Interesting. Your views are the complete opposite of mine. IMO, Pavlik fighting Calzaghe would look worse than the Lacy fight. Dawson has a better chance to beat Calzaghe (by UD) but he ain't hard enough to drop Joe and keep him on the deck.
Nobody is knocking Calzaghe out, you can bank on it.

I think that's a red herring. Pavlik is more than big enough to handle himself at 168. His boxing ability notwithstanding, I don't accept the other points.
Pavlik is big enough to carry 175, but he'll get schooled by great boxers. Hopkins, Calzaghe, and potentially even Dawson if he doesn't get caught/
Pavlik does not deserve a shot anywhere near Calzaghe. Neither does Dawson for that matter imo, but he's certainly more worthy then Pavlik. Joe should **** them all and fight Hopkins again instead.
Dawsons problem is his chin and he has no power so Pavlik will keep coming and Chad isnt as good a boxer as BHop so I gotta go with Pavlik getting in at least a few hard shots and I dont think Chads chin would hold up. There is no reason for Kelly to fight Dawson though, it would be all risk and no reward, for Chad on the other hand it would be a big payday so this fight wont happen.
when did dawson fight taylor?
He didn't. What it means is when you look at both their records combined the most impressive name in the win column is Jermain Taylor.
Anything above 160 would leave Pavlik with less power, slower hand speed and foot movement. Even with all of those attributes in tact he still would get boxed around the ring. This was my opinion before the Hopkins fight and it still holds.

however the standout name from both their records is Jermain Taylor.
when did dawson fight taylor?
Pavlik is a big draw and star due to his exciting fights. Dawson is pretty much a no draw whatsoever to the general public. Dawson is the better boxer though.
since when was pavlik a draw? exciting fighter? yes of course he is but a draw he is not outside of eing popular in the area he lives in.he doesn't attract interest
and I would regard dawson as more legitimate as he has has proved himself at 175 where's pavlik has never fought at that weight and not proved himself at super middleweight level let alone light heavyweight
and I think calzaghe would defeat both of them to be honest
that is if we are talking about calzaghe? we are right?
