Back in the day while amateur boxing was legit I would say they were both about equal, but with the current points system at the Olympics you have to look no further than Audley Harrison to figure out which title means more.
A 6 year old would know having a gold medal is something really big. Tell them about undisputed belts in which you can still lose?
The fact that you can lose it makes it more valuable; just like your life.
And, you really can't take away something you achieve in that regard: You won the title; your name is going down in boxing history as "Champ" at so and so time.
Think of it this way. If Ali won a gold medal and never won a title, would he be great? What about Lennox Lewis? Floyd Mayweather Jr. got broze and hes the best p4p fighter as was Roy Jones.
A gold medal is a huge honor but I feel the championships, if won the right way from the right titlists, is bigger.
Hell NBA players would love a medal but not more then the NBA championship
Ali fought in a time when Amatuer boxing was actually good; not this pitty pat helmet crap we see today.
They need to go back to the old rules of amatuer boxing.
The Gold Medal today is a joke; it proves little except to say you won the t-ball version of boxing.
Amatuer boxing is supposed to prepare you fro the pros; that's how I always thought of it.
Now we have guys scared to take a full on punch because they are not used to it; they want the pitty patty crap and want to wear helmets.
Now this is what it is supposed to be like:
The ancient Greeks would laugh their ass off if they saw what we did with the sport; and then they would cry for Man's castration.
At the same time tho, I do admit that boxers who won both titles and the gold medal do say that they proudest of the medal cuz they cant lose it
I think is the most important part to those who have won it...someone else said that same thing
very good valid points bro!

Most, if not all the great boxers that have won both a gold medal and been undisputed champion that have been asked what their biggest accomplishment was would say it was winning the gold medal.
yea, I definitely agree with you
both are very long roads but im going with Undisputed Champ.... not only is there a big difference between professional prize fighting and amateur but to be fight and beat the creme of the crop of your division and bring all the titles together is a huge accomplishment
