Just had a big discussion about this in my Sports Management class. Andrade is a local fighter around here, in Massachsetts, and 50% of my class and teacher live in Rhode Island where Andrade is from.
He is fighting a man named Pat Cape who is 4-2 (2KOs). Andrade is a 6'1 welterweight and he can box and punch. He has a lot of potenetial and im glad he wasted no time turning pro.
I see Andrade winning by 1st round TKO tonight.
And the fight is going to be televised on VERSUS tonight at 8:00 ET so watch it!
Danny Jacobs is going to get revenge for the L he took to Andrade when the time comes. These guys are the future of boxing for sure.
Jacobs lost to Estrada in the prelims. Not Andrade. Wrong weight class. Though it could be the same in the pros considering I can see Andrade moving up to middle.
I been down in NC the last 3 years so Im out of the loop when it comes to most of the up and comers from RI, but Caro looks ok. Good head movement. For such a small city, Providence has been churning out some decent fighters the last few years. Balletto, Manfredo, Godfrey, Estrada, Spina, Barbosa and now Andrade, and hopfully this cat Caro. Not bad for a city with less than 200,000 people.
yea man for sure. A kid Jose from my gym schooled Caro twice in the ams and went pro. He went 2-0 and had a fight on ESPN. Then he went to jail just a week before his 3rd fight for selling cocaine. He recently got out but i havent seen him at the gym.
Im trying to be the next best thing from New Bedford after Sucra Ray Olivera(hes my trainer) hes just going to be m.i.a for a little while cause of some mess. My gyms a mess right now and probably will be till he gets back. New Bedford is even smaller than Providence and we got guys like Paul Delgado, Jason Pires, and Ray Olivera. Plus an undefeated prospect named Jose Peralta who training in Atlanta right now.
Yea i agree with you man. Also Jesus Caro from there is a good prospect from the ams down here, he 2-0 (2KOs). My boy Jose whooped him twice in the ams though right before he turned pro.
Here is Jesus Caro's last fight. Hes fighting his 3rd fight on the Manfredo-Bika card in a few weeks.

I predict that Andrade will surpass Peter Manfredo and possibly Vinny Pazienza as the best fighter to come out of Rhode Island in the last 20 years or so. I was hearing about this kid in RI gyms and boxing circles 5 or 6 years ago.

Andrade looked good in there. He looked very fast and sharp. His counter right hook was faster than lightning. He did what he had to do and got his debut out of the way in impressive fashion.
He said he wants to fight again in November so it seems he wants to be active. I just hope he isnt rushed to the top. Also im not sure if he wants to fight at 147 or 154. Hes big so i deffinately see 154-160 in his future.
Nice KO. Andrade fought a bit cautious and reminded me of Tarver a bit. A Tarver who moves foward.
Damn, he did fight like Tarver in there a bit, didn't he?
I thought it might be over quicker than that, but it seemed Cape wanted to least last a round. Andrade basically did what he had to do and showed some good handspeed and combination punching.
He's defintely a fighter to watch.....He was robbed in the Olympics if you ask me. I'm a fan of Keith Thurman whom Andrade defeated in the Olympic trials. Thurman is undefeated since turning pro about a year ago....all 1st round KOs too. Both guys are the future of the WW to MW ranks a few years from now.
Haven't heard of Thurman before, but will keep my eyes open for him. I saw almost all his fights were in Tampa. Is he promoted by One Punch?
