Fightnews said something about him fighting Lovemore N'dou next, that would be a good fight for both guys. N'dou finally makes some pretty good money and Gatti gets a guy whos not going to be too fast or strong for him. Plus both guys like to mix it up so it would be a fun fight to watch. Anyway I'm glad Gatti isn't going into retirement he's not one of the elites talent wise but with all the great fights he's been in and all that he's brought to boxing HBO owes him a few more paydays. And I know i'll be tuning in any time Gatti fights.
Yuri Foreman VS Anthony Thompson...any thoughts??
Both guys are so fucking boring, especially Foreman. I think Thompson will be too quick for him but this fight will be a snoozefest.
The real undercard fight is Soto- Bobby Pacquiao that should be an action fight while it lasts. I think Soto takes him out of there inside of 6 rounds. Soto's good enough that I think he could give Manny Pacquiao problems.
Even though Mayweather/ De La Hoya had all those PPV buys I think it really hurt the sport more than it helped it. Promoting it as the biggest fight in boxing history was BS and it gave it a standard it couldn't possible live up to. But in the long I'm pretty sure boxing will never die and I think MMA coming into the mainstream will be a really good think for boxing. More kids will be into the fighting sports instead of going to football or basketball and they will see that boxing takes just as much skill if not more than ultimate fighting does. IMO hand to hand combat is easily the best and it will begin to show once boxing gets more substance and hopeful a little less corruption.
I think its about 95% likely that the fight goes to the cards, both guys are just to smart and good defensively. Winky is going to make Hopkins work a lot more than he's used to and I think the fight will turn out to be a pretty good fight, I'm looking forward to it. My pick is Winky to win by a couple rounds on the cards just because his game plan is just to fight like he always does, Jermain Taylor couldn't really faze him so a don't see Hopkins putting anything on him. But I'll be rooting for Hopkins and I hope I'm wrong
I agree that its good news that they are making this fight happen but really neither one of these guys has proven anything as a pro yet. One of the guys gets hype mainly because of where he is from and the other guy gets hype mainly for his amateur career, thats why they are getting pretty good money and HBO television for this fight. Don't get me wrong it is always great to get two young prospects to fight one another but they both have a long way to go to prove themselves as serious contenders.
Oh, and in case you didn't know, im 99% sure this is the same guy that stopped COTTO-CORLEY rediculously early.
The guy who ref'ed Cotto-Corley was a Puerto Rican dude who had very little to no experience. I always thought Byrd was one of the better refs in the business. I thought he did a good job of keeping the action going.
paul williams would be great, extremely long arms and constant punching,
margarito as well long armed with power on both hands and very high on activity level
At 147 + guys like that as well as someone like Clottey would give Floyd all kinds of problems. You just have to be willing to walk through his punches and not look for an opening, just bang him on his arms and go to the body. I don't even think Oscar fought that good of a fight and people had that one close just because of Oscars pressure.
Cotto is taylor made for Judah. Sure Zab has all the speed and can punch and everybody's seen Cotto in trouble before, but Cotto is one of the most focused fighters around and Zab is one of least. Every time Zab has been in there with a guy who won't let him be the boss and he can't hurt Zab folds like and accordion. Sure he beat Cory Spinks but Cory's just and awkward speedy southpaw who couldn't bust a grape. Cotto is gonna cut off the ring, stay focused and take Judah's will, it will be a wipe out after the 6th or 7th round.
I've only seen the fight once and that was watching it live but I thought Floyd looked great. He won the fight with his movement and he landed all the cleaner and IMO most of the harder shots. Mayweather always fights intelligently and thats what he did with Oscar. I can't see how anyway could give DLH anymore than 4 rounds- and that's with giving Oscar the 12th.
He just doesn't want to get hit as much anymore against the bigger guys, the last time he really came to be in a real give and take fight was against Chop Chop Corley.
I've always liked Moore but theres no doubt that he's done as a fighter. I remember watching him against some Cuban Cruiserweight a few years ago, even Shannon Briggs would have been embarrassed at his punch output in that motherfucker.
Castillo hasn't looked all that sharp lately but he knows how to work his way inside on guys and that should lead to Hatton finally getting a few points taken away for all that 'strategic' holding he does. I think Castillo's better class will show down the stretch and he beats him unanimously.
I'm still kinda shocked at Showtime Interveiw Hatton did. He was way over weight and was bitching about the fight starting at 2 AM. Along with that article Hatton is been doing some bizzare stuff going into his first really big fight-- I truely expect Tszyu to run over the kid.
I've see Rubin Williams fight and he seems like the type of guy that will get taken out by Lacy very early, I don't think the fight will last anymore than three or four rounds. As for Diaz/Castillo I think Diaz will look pretty good early but Castillo will be able to pound him away on the inside and win via a late stopage
Are you guys kidding me, I missed the news that this fight is now off. Its pretty stupid they've been talking about this fight for almost a year now they need to make it happen
As much of a fan as I am of Corrales, I think Castillo will win. Its pretty easy to underestimate Castillo untill you actully get in the ring with him, this will be a hard hitting fight and I think Castillo will ware Corrales down.
Its kinda nuts Riddick Bowe is still fighting a decade after his prime. I like Bowe but I think pretty soon one of those thrid raters he's fighting will show him why he shouldn't still be in the ring.
Lennox would have kicked his ass, it didn't seem like Lennox wanted to fight no more the man in that moon that night. But if Lewis comes in ready and prepared to fight his size and skill would be to much for Vitali Klitchko.
I give Berrera a few feel out rounds and then it's no more than a sparring session for him.......and it really shouldn't be that easy to predict for a PPV card.
I really wasn't all that high on Million doller Baby, it had some good acting but the script was crap.
Like a lot of people my favorite boxing movies are Raging Bull, Great White Hype, Rocky 1 and When We Were Kings.
I don't think Buster even was that good a fighter and was always a pretty lazy guy, but before the Tyson fight his mother died. Mabey with that kind of emotion inside of you can get dediced for a short time and do things you normaly wouldn't be able to do.
My only thoughts on the fight are 1) I can't believe HBO televised the damn thing 2) Wlad's can still throw some great combo's and can flick a heck of a jab, but the cubian guy just didn't do enough for it to meam a while lot 3) That electrolight show was prety good but a little over the top.
