Come on you doubters. Are you still saying that the fight was fixed? The replay clearly showed that it was a legit punch. I can not believe that some of you still want to make it look like Wladimir just blew the guy and he fell after feeling the wind. The slo mo replay clearly showed that the punch landed cleanly and had some effect. Was it enough to Ko Castillo? No one knows that except Castillo, but still Wladimir did what had to be done.
Wlad done OK, but it definitely wasn't enough to impress me. He'll have to take out another two fighters, and preferably more legit top 15 contenders. I would have preferred to see Wlad fight the Belorus guy....but maybe next time.
It would be good to see Wlad fight the old Sanders next!!......
Perhaps I misread this...
Right that's not saying he deserves it, I'm just saying it would be nice. If he deserved it there would be no way that Byrd could avoid fighting him without having to give up his belt.
The thing is, the nuthugger crew is calling for Wlad to have a title shot. He has done nothing to earn it. In the last few years he has lost by devastating KO to 2 people who shouldn't have been able to do it, he has beaten up on 4 corpses and had one fight stopped for cuts after he had been put on his ass.
Regardless of the talent he has, and he has talent by the bushel, his recent resume doesn't rate a title shot. He may have beat Byrd in the past, but he has to earn his way back to that status. He hasn't.
Right I didn't call for Wlad to get a shot in my post there though. I was saying that he could beat any top heavyweight that doesn't have a good chin and power. Next, he'll probably fight another top 30 heavyweight without the chin/power combo who would be willing to fight him.
My only thoughts on the fight are 1) I can't believe HBO televised the damn thing 2) Wlad's can still throw some great combo's and can flick a heck of a jab, but the cubian guy just didn't do enough for it to meam a while lot 3) That electrolight show was prety good but a little over the top.
Why? No one without those two essentials has ever beaten him. And everyone who has them, Sanders, Brewster, and Puritty has beaten him. I didn't realize that it was this difficult to understand, but I guess I was wrong.

Look at the chaos that I have caused. Let's just wait and see who Wladimir picks next and we will let the result do all the talking for us. I mean, if Wlad fights a couple more fringe guys then there you go. If he fights somebody reputable then we will have our answer there as well. I will give this much to Wladimir, he is the least predictable heavyweight in the division. I literally feel like anything can happen when he gets in the ring.
Also, had the situation been reversed, and Wlad had been stopped after being rocked once in a fight where absolutely nothing was happening, you would be screaming for the ref's head.
Not really. I wish they would have stopped the Sanders's fight after the 1st KD.
Actually, it was a perfect rebuttal. You came right in and proved his point perfectly.
He said that even with a Wlad win over a nobody, all the nuthuggers act as if he's one step away from being in the Boxing Hall of Fame. Your reply was that he could beat anybody who didn't have a chin and a punch, proving him 100% correct.
I don't think the fight was fixed, but Castillo WAS bouncing in the corner. He could have gone on, but he still would have lost.

Great rebuttal...

All I am saying is that to argue my comment Wlad fan's can get a little 'over-zealous' in where they think there fighter is right now, a Wladimir fan talks about him beating most heavyweights and contending for a title in his next fight. I think Wladimir is ultra talented, but right now is not the time to rush him. He looked horrible even in victory against Williamson (who is not a contender), looked horrible against Brewster (who was not a contender until after that fight), got KO'ed by Sanders (who was barely on the radar at that point) and when he beats Castillo (who is a blown up cruiserweight and is not a contender) people start talking about Wlad like he is the second coming of Liston or something. Can he challenge for a title again someday? Certainly! Can he do it right now? No chance.
You obviously are missing the point here, so there's really no point to drag this on.

At least 3 or 4? IMO Wlad would beat any top heavyweight without the lethal combo of good chin and power which very few of them have. And more likely than not, if Wlad can't get Byrd next, he'll probably be in there with a top 20 heavyweight without a good chin and/or power.
I rest my case...
This win means little in the grand scheme of things and Wladimir probably needs AT LEAST another three or four fights against the push over kind of guys to get his confidence up before he even thinks about fighting an actual heavyweight contender again. This is the one thing that bugs me about the Klitschko's, no matter what happens in the ring their fans think they are one fight away from being the best fighters in history...

OK, a couple of things. There are more crazy fundamentalists on this post then there are in the white house! (thank you, thank you, tip your waiters and try the veal) Number one, the fight was not fixed for god's sake- that is the problem with our sport, because of the rap it has the damned conspiracy theorists will just not go away! It was a legit fight and the worse guy got KO'ed! Second, why are Wlad fans already getting carried away?!? I mean, yeah your guy won- but Castillo is a fringe contender at VERY BEST.
