I completely disagree with the punch stats the 1st 8 rounds of the fight. I trying my hardest to look for Floyd's countershots and all i saw was Oscar picking off many of Floyd's punches from rounds 1 thru 8. Neither fighter really landed solid shots up until that point, but Oscar was the aggressor and landed some body shots along the ropes .so you have to give him some of those close rounds. Floyd was not counterpunching as well as some think. Remember im just talking about the 1st 8 rounds.
I thought Oscar won rounds 2 ,3 ,4 ,6 ,8 with rounds 9 and 12 a tossup
Floyd - Rounds - 1 ,5 ,10 ,11 with rounds 9 and 12 a tossup
What Floyd did in rounds 10 and 11 ,that was not happening from round 1 thru 8. Oscar was picking off a lot of his punches, and Floyd also was not as aggressive those eariler rounds. Oscar wins this fight with ease had he jabbed more in rounds 9 ,10 ,11. Even if it was just 2 of those rounds, and he wins a decision.
easily? now thats nuthugging. i agree he won, but not in a very impressive or convincing manner. heck he couldnt even handle a brief exchange w/ oscar w/o going on his bike. he's contented w/ making potshots. and thats the diff w/ him and othe ATGs. ali and srl are quick like floyd, can do what floyd does, but they're not afraid to mix it up and they're not contented being on the outside the whole fight. and thats the reason also a lot of boxing fans cant seem to put floyd high on the ATG list.
you should be able to understand that
1) Ali never moved up in weight.
2) SRL never had a fight in a 5th weight division. when he fought for the lightheavy belt he fought at supermiddle, against a dehydrated donnie lalonde, who is not even comparable with Oscar p4p, (even when not starved to supermiddle).
so dont make ridiculous comparison. if you want to complain about the way floyd fought way above his natural weight you need to dig a little bit deeper and come up with robinson fighting maxim, or armstrong fighting at welter.
edit: duran fighting hagler

So you think you are more accurate than Compu Box?
Round 9 a toss up?
Round 12 DLH nearly got dropped but thats a toss up?
Sigh.....what can you say?
lol.
About 95%?!
Oscar (boxer) had it the other way, Floyd Sr (ex-boxer) had it the other way.
Ben Dirs (BBC) had it also not for floyd: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/6626009.stm
And a very nice article: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=8526 had it not for floyd
These 4 are 5%, now show me about 95% (76) other analysts, boxers, and commentators opnions ;)
dont be ridiculous... you cannot include oscar in your list, wtf do you expect him to say?
also floyd sr. is all the way for a rematch so he can hopefully get his share
ppl should understand that most ppl dont tell the truth when it is not in their best interest to do so.
its like believing floyd saying: "I am goint to stand and trade". of course he has to say that: it is in his interest to sell the fight. will he do it? no. most relevant for my point: does he even think he is going to do it? NO
Funny how about 95% of all analysts, boxers, and commentators had the fight going to Floyd.

Oscar lost the fight!!!!! I was picking oscar to win but im realistic he lost. He abandoned the jab and he lost. If he hadnt stopped throwing the jab he could won it yes but he did so he lost. Point blank period.
Your fucking ridiculous, Oscar was never hurt and was definatrly never staggered
of course you won't admitt you fucking hater but floyd buckled his knee's twice.
if you watched the fight that many times and you still think oscar won or it was that close you should just stop watching boxing or learn how to score a fight. floyd won easily making oscar miss time and time again while peppering oscar with shots buckling him twice.
thank you lol
if ou cant see the counter shotthats prob
because you dont know what a counter punch is.
oscar wasnt picking nothing but his nose in
between rounds. his jab was effective the 5 times
a round he used it and his flurries that lasted 3 seconds
were okay being floyd csliped most of the punches
and there were rounds oscar didnt even land double digit
floyd won hands down tough fight but shit jordan didnt
score 50 points every game. even ali had tough nights
shit floyd had a tough night with a game trying his best
to win top pound for pound champ of our era. and floyd
still won damn
Come on man, he is great. Carl Lewis was better though.
its obvious that Oscar is a better fighter but gassed out in the last quarter. gayweather was losing up until round 8 and in my eyes, still lost the fight.
the guy does nothing but run for 12 rounds and bore everyone to death.
He is the 150lb sven ottke with a couple of flashy shoulder rolls thrown in.
Why people think he's great is beyond me. He's mastered doing laps of a ring...big fucking deal...the sooner he's gone the better, then i can get back to watching real fighters and not pussies who dont want to war
Your fucking ridiculous, Oscar was never hurt and was definatrly never staggered
oh he was staggered at least twice. I seen them knees buckle, don't trip!

oscar didn't land the more effective punches, because i don't feel he hurt mayweather. actually, i feel floyd hurt oscar and he even staggered him with the cleaner, more effective punchers and his punches were clearer also(power punches).

This is exactly what I said. Oscar was picking off tons of shots from Floyd. A good example of this, Everyone watch round 4 and see that Floyd only landed 7 to 9 punches total. And later they say he landed 20 something. I was like Woah. What the heck are they watching. Floyd did nothing to take the titles away from Dela Hoya. Even at this stage of Hoya's career, he still gave mayweather more than enough to win the fight in my eyes. People who watched it onced should watch it closely and not listen to the commentary. Floyd wasn't landing landing near 50% like the HBO commentary where thinking. Floyd accuracy my butt. Im not even a Oscar fan and I can tell that he won the fight on aggression and pressing the fight. Floyd did nothing to take the title away. Hope Floyd doesn't retire. He still has alot of fighters left to fight in order to be a true all time greatest. And at 30 years old, he is nowhere near out of his prime. He has atleast 2 to 3 years left in his body.
Fans like myself would love to see Mosely vs Floyd, Paul Williams vs Floyd, Cotto vs Floyd. Atleast 2 of those fights will do. Then you can retire, but if Floyd is retiring for his kids and family, then go on and be happy.
Hey, Floyd has a blueprint to success, and it has worked 38 times people. End of story.
Although, I do admit that Floyd could do more offensively (even though he still outlanded Oscar by a lot) to make the fight more interesting. There were two instances in the fight where he actually stood in with Oscar and traded for a bit, and he got the best of those exchanges, so I wonder why he couldn't have done it more. But the answer is, he wanted to win. Better safe than sorry.
If there was an easier way to get by in your job on a day to day basis, wouldn't you do it? Floyd does it the only way he knows how, and he's never lost. Why change?
If you want to be the greatest fighter of all time, you have to do a little more than what he did. If was a great as he said he was he would have made Oscar look silly and a mess of him. Like the way Winky wiped out Tito. But he didn't and there's still a question mark about a lot of Floyd's punches being blocked. Floyd didn't deliver on his word.
This isn't a DLH defense at all, I just don't think Floyd is as Great as many make out.

I've only seen the fight once and that was watching it live but I thought Floyd looked great. He won the fight with his movement and he landed all the cleaner and IMO most of the harder shots. Mayweather always fights intelligently and thats what he did with Oscar. I can't see how anyway could give DLH anymore than 4 rounds- and that's with giving Oscar the 12th.
Great: intensity considerably above the normal or average. very large and imposing.
You might want to reconsider you're choice of words.
More like; he was doing enough to win.
I have no problem with Floyd winning because i think oscar blew the fight with his jab. I just had a problem with Max Kellerman and ppl saying Floyd won 9 rounds to 3 and won it easy and those punch stats. The fight was much closer then that.
