Look, yes many of today's fighters are better than the ATG's of older eras but think about it this way. There's been a lot of advancement in sports science, training methods, supplementation, etc. We consider them ATG's for their level of skill and accomplishments relative to their time period. Is Tony hawk not an ATG skateboarding legend? He was the first to do the 900 but now everyone and their mom can pull it off.
Physically he's past it, but It seems he hasn't stopped learning. Sort of like Hopkins so it tends to even out until of course his physical abilities are so diminished that his boxing knowledge/ring generalship cannot compensate. We'll see what he looks like May 5th but I think he still has some greats fights left in him.
Mouthpiece flew out on that last right hand. It was a bit early I would of started the count and at least see how he looked after but it wasn't the worst stoppage we've seen.
Some of the logic you haters are using to discredit Mayweather can be applied to other fighters as well. Although I will give you the inflation argument. You have to remember also not only fans pay to see him but also people who want to see him lose lol.
I saw Sugar Shane Mosley at Home Depot once. What's crazy is it was busy yet no one had recognized him yet. I didn't want to spill the beans especially since I didnt have a camera/phone on hand or anything for him to sign. He knew I recognized him and just kind of smiled and kept walking with his shopping cart.
HBO needs to hire Atlas sure his predictions aren't always right but the passion and excitement is there. Plus he usually has constructive things to say about the fighters. Not to sound like a Floyd fanboy but you can always tell when Merchant isn't fond of a particular fighter, and the whole speech thing is the icing on the cake. Anyway, seems like Sillakh is too flawed defensively for him to be so defensive minded if that makes sense.
Well first of all everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Now, that being said, I can't see Pacquiao beating Floyd for a couple reasons:
1. Pacquiao doesn't have a good enough jab to keep Floyd out of his rhythm like Cotto was able to at times.
2. He isn't the type to cut off the ring he likes to pop in with quick combinations then pop back out. The thing with that is that Floyd will pick up on his body movement and catch him coming in. Although I'm sure Pacquiao will have some success with that to a degree purely because of his hand speed.
3. Pacquiao is too short. Mayweather always does well against shorter fighters, he'll keep him on the outside with his jab and potshot him. When Pacquiao tries to jump in with his combos he'll get countered like I said before. Also he's not physically strong enough to bully Floyd around the ring and make it his fight. I think Floyd would be dictating the pace.
Would be a tough fight for both though and would love to see it.
He looked same as always difference is this version of Cotto was on his A game and Mayweather was indeed letting the fight go to the ropes at times to make it more of a fight I believe. Not to discredit Cotto though because he does cut off the ring very well. It's inevitable to get hit more when you throw more.
theres no ****ing point if manny can fight a bigger oscar at ww why not fight a naturally smaller floyd at ww?...roach is ****ing retarded...this fight needs to happen at ww and im sure manny wouldnt have a problem with that..
its simple...floyd landed the cleaner, crisper punches and was twice as accurate(literally)...yea oscar was aggressive but wat was he landing? floyd clearley won...
