As expected. Cotto out jabbed a jabber in Shane, and this was when Shane still knew his existed...even if he was past his. But, Floyd by choosing to fight Cotto's fight kind of gave Cotto less opportunity to use it...doesn't help that Cotto had nothing when Floyd decided to fight at a distance...
I think fighting Floyd is one of those things where hindsight is 20/20 for fighters. Because they ARE touching him, I wonder if they feel they're doing better than they really are.
Cotto has always had a great jab, but people who aren't "real boxing fans" think the left hook to the body was his end all be all punch.
Something is wrong with this pic and I just can't get my finger on it... :dunno:

Didn't realize Lil Wayne came with Floyd too.
Gamboa is the only one in that pic that doesn't have at least $1 MM in he bank :lol1:
Once upon a time everybody was arguing with me saying that mayweather was gonna counter his jab all night long, miguel was too slow, etc.

On a side note, im watching the fight again right now, and damn, fight is damn close, closer than when i first watched it. Many close rounds that could have gone either way and it wouldnt be unreasonable.
everyone knew going in it was gonna be a key punch...people forget you have a plan until you get hit....this is boxing, Cotto just didnt stop throwing it...Mayweather started to counter it with overhand rights and a few pull counters....also him placing his head to the leftside and throwing uppercuts and left hooks to the body got him out of the way of the jab...Cotto fought a helluva a fight but Mayweather had an answer for everything he tried

I think had Cotto used his jab as often as he did in the Mosley fight the fight would have been so much closer.
Kudos to Miguel, that dude dispelled previous demons and debunked any notions of him being a quitter.
MUCH respect to Cotto...
There's a reason why Cotto couldn't use his jab at will and that reason is Mayweather. It was the same thing that happened to De La Hoya.

Cotto wished he could use his jab all night long on Floyd but it's not because he suddenly "forgot" how to do it. He was frustrated because he couldn't find the target when he wanted to and it got him tired in the end. It was the same with De La Hoya.
A perfect timed jab will always cause you trouble. He knocked Clottey down with that jab and kept Mosley away with it.
Cotto's a southpaw but fights orthodox. His powershot is all in his left hand. That jab is really like a powerful straight right hand. He couldn't hurt Mayweather though.
Im kinda disappointed he didnt use it as much in the beginning stages of the fight. But overall it was good. Where are the people saying cotto was too slow with it and floyd would counter it all night?
If anybody has a better quality of the fight, would love to see a gif of this
(1:22-26)
Very good timing on that jab.
He should have thrown it more later in the fight, he had good success with it in the middle rounds. I think it was the jabs that had Mayweather bleeding from the nose.
I didn't expect the crowd to show their appreciation of Mayweather bleeding the way they did when they saw him between rounds, that was brutal :lol1:
Love your sig, Floyd having all those celebrities by his side was a ****in joke lol
Cotto's jab was his money punch in this fight, and imho it's the best punch in his arsenal.
